Comments: McGee, I haven't thought about Rocky Ridge Rd. in years. Did you know any of my '63 classmates like Jerry Vessels, Liz Gerbetz, Ronny Kurz or Raymond Ayala? Up there across the street from Laureland was one of the highest points in Dallas - probably explains the "thin air" you referenced.
Comments: Mr. Robert (the other) Norman, if you grew up 2 houses from Cap'tn Happy Jack Hawkins, I understand your messed up thought processes. I grew up 2 houses from Ronney McKee, and 1 blk from the Rev. Sammy Smith. The air was also very thin on Rockey Ridge Rd. I'm pleased to know there is more of us out there........
Comments: I'm glad that several classmates were able to attend Christie's service. Robert, I hope that you and Jolae will surprise us by showing up at one of our mini get-togethers. [Wait until the next one, though, since I won't be at the June 7th shindig (she said, selfishly)!] - Carol
Comments: I thought everyone had to have drugs to talk , eh ?  Also I have known Happy Jack since around 1950, we lived one house apart growing up, I know his family and he knows mine, which I am not sure that is a good point or not, lol. sometimes I think the thin air up here messes with ones thoughts, anyway that is what the wife here says. if you need a golf buddy get a hold of Bill Nelson, that is all he does now days. and if I go golfing can I drive the cart ? 
Comments: I got back from Christie's service about an hour ago. It was lovely with lots of family, friends and flowers. And SOC was well represented to give our friend a warm and loving send-off.

Comments: Howdy, right now I am having more fun than a puppy with two peters. yehaaaa. at google map site , http://maps.google.com you can zoom right down to street level. now live search at msn does a birds eye view but this goes down to the street, just like riding in a car. Does anyone know how they do that ? check it out. I have told all of you that I have diabetes with all the curses to go with it. but did I tell you that about a month ago I had a bad nerve pain and went to the doc to get a shot of demorol <sp?>. well as it went the new nurse over dosed me and Jolae could not even get me out of the truck , I passed out cold. she got an ambulancee to take me to the hospital, she says, cause I did not wake up for two days, spooky let me tell you. sitting in the front seat of the truck and then coming too in a hopital bed and to top it all off I missed Fridays episode of BattleStar Galtica. chit. ha ha. Last week I got to me another web buddy, she came by the house while here in colorado. she is from London. ok folks have fun at the meeting and say hello to everyone for me, otay ? Comments: Carol, it's nice to see you posting & I really hate you can't make it in June. Yes, we'll have a 2nd get-together! We always have at least two get-togethers a year! The only time we've only had one in a yr was in 2006 when we had our big 40th reunion party. I've been talking with Barbara Dobbs, Christie's older sister, and I gave her the link to Donnie's beautiful video of Christie. She told me she loved it and how great it was to see her smiling with all her SOC friends!
Comments: "AMEN" to what Sandy said about attending the June 7th mini - especially if you're in the Dallas area. I'll be there in spirit - and I'll be at the next one "for real"! (I like Jack's idea of having the next one in late September. We could have some really good football rivalries going by then!) - Carol
Comments: I had to miss the 35th reunion because I was working a show in Oklahoma that weekend. I'm glad to learn the details of how the mini reunions got started. SNL, I really hope that everyone will take your suggestion to come out "in honor of Christie" who helped get it all started in the first place and have a fun day of comraderie with our friends and classmates. You may discover someone you didn't know well before but will really enjoy knowing now.
Comments: Some of you have good memories, but for those that may have forgotten, I'm going to tell you a little diddy about Christie! Our 35th reunion was in Aug 2001 & not many showed up! Kinda a bummer. Then we all know what happened shortly after that . . . 9-11!! In Oct Christie decided there was no reason to wait another 5 yrs to see our SOC friends .... why not see them now! She & Eileen started calling friends & they ask each person to call another friend. We were all to meet at noon at Dave & Busters in the bar for a mini get-together!! About 40 of us showed up & it was great! I grabbed a piece of paper & had everyone write down their name & contact info including email. I compiled it into an email & pho list in my PC. From there it grew like wildfire because I could send email messages to everyone rather than us calling each person. As you can see, the original idea of having us all get together more often than every 5 yrs came from Christie!! It was her initiative that got the ball rolling! She never missed a get-together or a reunion. She loved a good party and especially if it was with her SOC friends! With that thought in mind, I encourage you to make the effort to attend our next get-together on June7th. As we've all learned this week . . . you never know when you'll see someone for the last time. Why not take the opportunity to visit & enjoy your fellow classmates on June 7th, as some will have traveled great distances to get here. In honor of Christie . . . show-up & enjoy the day visiting with friends!!

Comments: Ms. Susan P., I spent 4 hrs. in a golf cart with "Mister" Fugate yesterday. He did not elaborate, but stated his present planted a big smile on her face. The boy did chip in a 75 ft. shot and hit his drives out of site. We could not find half of them...... Capt'n Happy Jack, golf clubs are on sale, the air is cool, the beer cold, and Botox Bovie has the golf cart waiting....... |
