Comments: BLB, hope your mom continues to improve and that Sarah gets a good report from her doctor. We still have Robert Redford. He and Newman were adorable in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The Sting was great also.
Comments: JD- my good man ! Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), Chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee has a real deal worked up for the tax payer. Him and reelected felon Cold Cash Jefferson (D) LA. spent all week end ironing out the details with a good plan on how to spend 700 billion. Split it right down the middle 50ty 50ty no ethic problem here !!!
Comments: There is a new Cafe Brazil on 8th St. @ Bishop. Same good food as the one off Central. On the front door was a sign advertising Old Oak Cliff Fall Home Tour, October 11 & 12 from noon to 6 pm. website www.ooccl.org, ph. 214.989.3916. Thought it might be interesting to tour some of the old homes in Oak Cliff. There were no locations listed or how many on the flyer.
Comments: BLB -- sorry to hear about your mother, but glad that she is doing better. I will be praying for your mother and daughter. Richard -- Elizabeth Taylor is one still with us. I used to think that she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen and was going to name my 1st born after her, but changed my mind. I still think it's a beautiful name. I'm trying to think of some more, but will have to "work on it."
Comments: The day that I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003 changed my life forever. I've learned that breast cancer is not a death sentence but it is a life sentence because you have to live with the fear of recurrence. I'm hoping that more of you will join the Boogity Bears for the Race for the Cure at NorthPark Center on October 18. Comments: JS, that's interesting about the autographed stuff showing up on eBay. Newman was notorious for refusing to sign autographs...thought it was demeaning. I think he was a bit more understanding during fund raising events for his products.
Comments: Business as usual in the stock market as Wachovia Bank circles the drain this morning, while our friends (on both sides of the aisle) try to loot 700 billion more of our taxpayer dollars. $700 billion that WON'T be going to highways, bridges, schools, hospitals, health care etc. Mostly, just going to foreign banks and to prop up the salaries and ongoing jobs of the very folks who created the financial meltdown now taking place. I say "Let 'em sink". While our U.S. market is tanking, there is a bull market going on eBay in Paul Newman memorabilia. Over 1,900 items currently up for auction. $77,000 watches, $2,000 autographed 9 balls (as in pool table spheres), countless signed photos. Get 'em while they're hot!
Comments: Oh....you were talking about me & Jack? SNL, about that new kitchen of yours. We talked about it a while back and you know we just completed the same make-over of our kitchen (pretty much the same products in fact). Thanks for straightening Richard out as to "why" McCain doesn't do email... he can't type! Not because he doesn't know how, but because of his extensive injuries suffered while a POW! He does surf the Net some, but Cindy sits with him and does the typing. McGee & Don L - I accept the nomination to be the "Coordinator" on the flotilla!! I'll take care of securing us a party boat, uh... I mean ship, and all the supplies!! Let's be sure to bring JS along. We'll need someone who knows his way around the Internet & he can serve as the designated Captain while DL is helping McGee taste the "tea"!!! ALL ABOARD . . . !!!   Richard - - I'll take age & experience any day over youth, arrogance & inexperience! Paul Newman . . . what a wonderful actor. husband and humanitarian! I had heard on KLUV from Mike Evans, their Hollywood Insider guy, that Paul had cancer and was making pho calls telling all his friends good-bye. He said there was no public announcement, but it was true... he had terminal cancer. Some of my favorite Paul Newman movies are "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", "Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid" and "The Hustler". He never bragged about what he did, he just quietly went about giving more than 200 million from his salad dressing profits, helping kids at his camps and giving to other causes. They estimate he has given more than 500 million to charities!! JoAnn Woodward has lost her best friend!
