Comments: I'm trying to recall, from the previous general election, whether there were more than just the 2 main candidates & their political parties on the ballot - does anyone remember? I know there were about 10-12 total candidates during the primary, even though most of them had dropped out of the race by the time we voted in TX. If there are more than 2 on the ticket, I'll be taking a hard look at the alternatives. If I go with one of them, it'll be as much a vote for having more choices as it will be a vote against the other 2. It'll probably seem like a wasted vote, but why shouldn't we have more options? At least, I will not feel guilty for helping return things to 'business as usual', as it has every other time. Did you hear all the congratulatory 'smooching' by Senators last night, for their bi-partisan effort in passing the bail-out bill? I almost had to pull over & lean out the door of my truck. Yep, guess I'm fed up to my 'high water mark'! 
Comments: One of the main reasons why America seems to be losing respect around the world is the open America hatred of some media big-mouths like Michael Moore et al who prefer places like Cuba---why don't you just get a one-way ticket to Havana Mikey? My family in our many years living overseas spent time passing through Communist countries enroute to places, and we should never forget history---believe me it is hell even to visit totalitarian states. The video of children singing praise to their "Great Leader Obama" gave me the creeps. Today I read an article about an energy company in England recruiting kids to spy and report on their parents for sinful energy activities. SHEESH!

Comments: Richard, Obama got here on a ticket from the Kennedy's and was supported and groomed by them as well as several Black actors. He was actually manufactured for what he is currently doing, and its unfortunate that someone like him is allowing himself to be used in this fashion. OK John, I know you are out there some where waiting for this to jump on.
Comments: Jack that could be dangerious for Obama, as there have been people who have misteriously been found dead around the Clinton's.
Comments: Want to lighten up the conversation for a while, Jack? I can't say I've been burned lately with Mary Ann's curling iron, or had any lizards running up my jeans, but there must be something we can hee-haw over. I thought about getting involved in Bovie's nudist colony remarks, but decided to stay away from that one....lots of joke did come to mind, however.
Comments: Nice response there Jack, and don't think I'm campaigning for Obama; I just think (hope) he has a better shot at bringing this country's global reputation back to where it was 8 years ago; and he has better handle on financial cures for the economy. The "socialist" argument just doesn't fly with me...we have controls in place and they've been there working since the 30's. I also tend to have confidence in a guy that's gotten where he is with a name like his and coming from a broken home, poor, etc., etc. He's just not my definition of an empty suit.
Comments: JD - I liked your answer to RN's question so much about who you are for in the election, I read it to a co-worker. He liked your answer and we understand why you state BHO's full name. I'll be voting for McCain although there are some points that Obama makes that I like. On the news this morning, I saw Sarah Palin practicing for the debate on McCain's ranch. I hope that she's learned from some of her previous mistakes. BLB - glad that your daughter's tests were good. I know that you are so thankful.
Comments: Richard, I think John Southworth said it is John Sidney McCain. He (McCain) isn't my first or second or even third choice. But I can't find a single reason to vote for Obama. To change things just so they are not the same is not good. If you don't have a plan to make things better, changing them may make them worse. And yes, things can be worse. In my opinion changing Presidents is not going to make much difference. If we really want change then we need a complete change over in Congress. The only realistic way that is going to happen is IF we get a term limit law passed. Too many professional politicians, too long too far removed from local life.
Comments: S. Reynolds I'm also a Republican...I just can't support McCain. JD, I noticed you always refer to Barack with his first, middle & last name. It's probably not necessary as there's very few Obama's running for Pres. Anybody know McCain's middle name?
Comments: Great News, Bob. You may have to just "take your Mom for a ride" and end up at the doctor's office. Tickles me what is being said about Palin being "kept under wraps". Seems I see her on the news almost ever night out on the stump. I never see or heard ANYTHING about Biden. Sill hear the story that he will resign after the debate tonight for "health reasons" and Hillary will step up to fill-in. I don't think she is interested in the VP slot unless she knows (forsure) that she will end up as president.

Comments: Don't forget Thursday night is the big VeePee debate. I'll be watching it word-for-word (unless it's on at the same time as "Survivor - Gabon" - in which case, I'll be watching Jeff Probst and his rag-tag bunch who just can't seem to get the hang of how to start a fire). During the convention, she was the toast of the town. Now her handlers seem to be keeping her in a back closet. I think she'll do fine in tomorrow's debate as long as they ask "Yes" or "No" questions. With open-ended questions, she has that tendency to ramble. Okay, okay. I'll concede that Biden may "ramble" a bit tomorrow. Alright, he's a major Windbag, what can I tell ya? Cut me some slack.

Comments: RN...I'm not sure it matters...although the polls are really changing and getting closer...I've said it all along...Barack Hussein Obama (did I spell this correct?) is a complete empty suit... I want change but not from the democracy I tried to defend and almost my complete Hospital Corps School Class died for (57 out of 60) to a complete socialist country where everything we give in taxes is given to those who don't want to work...total redistribution of income is his goal...not mine. I hope that clear up any confusion on your part RN...no pun intended. |
