Isn't it gorgeous out today as well a yesterday! I bet the guys have a great time on the golf course.  I got swamped yesterday at lunch so went last night & bought my toys.  Kinda got me in the Christmas giving spirit!

I know what you mean KMG abt forgetting!     I've been gathering up my stuff all week.  I have a box & as I remember it I put it in the box.  So far I have Snacks, bowls, tickets, bowl for tickets, name badge, paper badges (for those who don't wear their reunion badge), pens & last but not least... the toys.  Yeah, it's a big box.   Plus I have the big SOC picture.  Tonight I'll set it in front of the door so I have to stumble over it to leave!!  OH, did I tell you we'll have another drawing tmo!  One of our SOCites has created and donated a very nice item I bet ya'll will fight over!!  He asked me to have a drawing for it as a gift to one lucky person.  Plus Gordy is bringing a dynamite chili stick so each person can take one home and try it.  Plus JD & Carol are traveling in from afar & Don L will be here too.  Looks like we'll have a good crowd & it will be a fun day!!!!!

Sandy Mc, keep in mind I'm still a Republican (although a disenchanted one) and I'm pretty much still behind most of the positions. On the other hand, our generation, those on this GB, are rapidly approaching the age where only two things are going to be of real importance to us (family/friends/religion aside); retirement income to pay living expenses, and health care. And when it's needed we're going to want the health care cheap, and even better, free. If we don't get that, an accident or sickness issue can wipe-out our entire retirement plans/funds within weeks or months.  I think the gov't is going to have to step in on this one...if fact, I think it's inevitable.

RW,
Sally, it wasn't public transportation.
I love the diversity of this country.  I love the fact that I can go to church and worship with people of many colors.  I don't like pressing one for English.  I don't like the fact that Madalyn O'Hare's voice was heard among thousand of others.  I don't like our health system, I think the government needs to stay out of it.
I must be the Sandy that's the instigator

Was there public transportation these people could have taken to vote or would they have had to walk if they did not own a car?  How are they expected to get there?
When I vote there are always people outside telling us how to vote--often both sides have copies of their ballots that they hand out.

Richard, I hear what you are saying with your 100% and I understand the 98% vote too. They have felt suppressed and this is their chance to change that. BTW have you ever noticed, in EVERY election the candidates tout "it's time for a CHANGE"
but after the election it's the same old thing.
Congress adding "pork" to every bill to get their pet projects passed so they can direct federal taxpayers money to their constituents or their home state. When Bush wanted to pass the line item veto, congress said no.
I WONDER WHY. It's no wonder a sitting President can't do what he promised, with congress pushing back everything he is trying to change. So why does everybody blame the President for the economy problems. We should be blaming Congress and the Senate for not passing bills that correct the problems and passing bills with "pork" attached. So congress is the problem not the sitting President.
Well have I sold enough soap?

Richard, I'm not a racist, I'm a realist.  I have never seen a bus before at an election.  Nor have I been told how to vote.

Ok Carol C., ...you only named one....the jury is still out on Southworth.  And RW, I'm sure there's a point in there somewhere; I'll see if I can find it...other than to point out that in the past 100% of the black voters in this country voted for a white male candidate, 100% of the time. (frankly, I'm looking for a point in what I just typed and I'm not sure there's one here either).

(and RW, in case you get in too much of a twist, just remember that one very astute SOCite who is greatly involved in Veteran affairs picked up rather quickly that if you let your chain hang out I'll try to jerk it....all in good spirit).

SNL, I remembered to purchase toys (one for boy and one for girl just to keep it equal) to bring to the mini. Now if I can only remember to bring them. (lol) Anxious to try Gordy's latest product. Good luck to the guys at their golf outing tomorrow. May the best (soberest) man win!

Carol, I agree with you based on his vast lack of experience, plus the fact that there are too many unanswered questions about his past. How can he know a preacher for over 20 years and NOT really know his true feelings.

We will not be there this week-end so all of y'all have fun.

John, I absolutely don't have a clue.  I know that many intelligent citizens are supporting Obama - you and Richard, to name two - but I truly don't understand why, even when I'm told why.  Maybe I'm just dense.  I hope that you and Dru will be at the mini - we can talk then if you want.

See you all soon!

Love - Carol

Toni;  I'm sure Bovie would be GLAD to share JD and let him stay with you and Bruce one or BOTH nights. Rumor has it that Bovie sleeps with one eye open and  Charlene doesn't sleep at all when JD is in town.

If Colin Powell were running for President
I would vote for him, even knowing that he was endorsing "o", which solidifies my 98%
statement in the previous post.

Comments:

Richard, as for finally getting past racism, I have heard it estimated that 98% blacks are voting for "o" That doesn't sound like objective voting, or considering the candidates merits. Some of us are past it but are they?
