Comments: Hello to Rod S. I think I have the wrong e-mail for you. Good to see you post and stay warm. I do not see how you , JD, and Ada (plus Sally T. in NY) stand the FRIGID cold. I had basic in NC @ Ft Bragg and I almost died. Hey Sally - we went to Bossier City last night to see the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular - and it was great. Very entertaining. Ann H. - So sorry to hear of Liz's death. She was always gracious and kind. Picture of me and JD on the Misc. Page was taken at the Hopper's house on Woodacre, I think.
Comments: Jack, most of use are doing OK up here and a lot better than those in the Northeast. Our storm was very mild compared to that in Ada's area. We had rain Sunday and then 3" of snow Sunday night along with cold temps. It was a wild drive to work yesterday with semi's and cars sliding all over the place. It's now 13 degrees after a low of 11 and clear as a bell. The forecast is for freezing rain and snow for the next two nights and then another snow storm coming Sunday. Since I'm not driving truck any more I really don't care what it does but most are not used to this any more. People either go way too slow or too fast. The cowboys in their 4 wheel drives don't know that even with a 4 x 4 they still can't stop or steer and go sliding through an intersection and sometimes hit someone else. Saw one yesterday do a 360 plus another 180 and end up sliding backwards down the street into the curb ahead of us. When I drove by him after he hit the curb and got high centered I pointed at him and laughed. He was going over the speed limit at the time for regular weather so it made me feel extremely good seeing him sitting there unable to go anywhere. I can only hope my laughing mad him madder than he already was. It looks like we will have this into next week making a white Christmas a very good possibility. Haven't had one in several years so the kids will be happy, and that includes this kid too. I've got 40 gals og gas for the generator, lots of propane for cooking and the lanterns so I'm about as ready as I can be. Hope everyone is doing OK, Barb and Donnie, still thinking of you and your family and those affected by the Northeast storm are getting by OK as well.
Comments: Jack, I hope the frosty weather doesn't numb your fingers as you attempt to remove the losing candidate's bumper sticker from your car.
Comments: JS; saw the video clip. Hope that didn't give you and Richard any ideas for welcoming the President back to Texas. Richard; Glad you were finally able to find something positive to say about the President. We had a sleet storm last night and right now it is snowing real fine, small flakes in Richardson. Is Ft. Worth holding the fat stock show early this year?? This is the weather that usually goes with it. JD is your electricity flowing? Rod, what's it doing in your part of the world??
Comments: Southworth, I saw that bit. Bush may not be able to speak in complete sentences, but he certainly has good reflexes...nice dodge.
Comments: John, You miss read, they were not new shoes, they were used and they were a gift from a reporter. If they cost more than $50 he will have to list them on his income tax.
Comments: Jack, did you see where George Bush went to Iraq over the weekend to pick up a new pair of shoes?
Comments: Happy Jack - I soooooo agree
Comments: Happy Jack you are absolutely right we don't know how many lives we touch, but with Gods guidance he weaves a beautiful tapestry I must say. You 66 grads are a delight to read and at times so touching. I am reminded this time of year also of the losses that we experience. Last year my wife's oldest brother, and before that one of her younger brothers in a jet ski accident. So my heart goes out to the couple that lost their grandson as we experienced some of the same things that they are going through. I am here to say that God is still in control of all things and the right time will come about, and he will see them through this tough time. Adversity brings about perseverance, and with that character, and with that hope.
Comments: Happy Jack, are you spicing up your morning java or what....you almost had me tearing up...lol....still love ya though!
Comments: "At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person"......Albert Schweitzer Thank you SOCites for your "sparks" this past year and the years past. Your years of friendship has rekindled me many times. Watched "It's a Wonderful Life" again this weekend and its' story always hits home. We never know how much or how many lives we touch. We are all intertwined and have had an effect on each other. The goodness continues to shine through. SOCites are special!! I'm proud and lucky to have you all as friends. Now if you all will just do as I say and vote as I wish everything will be OK!!
Comments: Thank you very much for the update. I was questioning David just this morning on my way to church why he may not have been found yet. He was a Rescue Diver with the Duncanville Fire Department for 5 years. He told me pretty much what you related. I am so very sorry for your situation. I'm keeping you in my prayers and watching for the answer, with you. You are very strong people, I know none of us understand but it is in God's plan and I pray his blessing upon you.
Comments: We know there have been a lot of questions about how things are going with the search for Brandon and how our family is doing. I thought I would try to give everyone an update.
The search for Brandon has not produced any results to date. There have been a few positive days when everyone thought that this would be the day, to no avail. The temperatures and wind have not been an ally in this battle. Hopefully there will be boats back in the water this Thursday. We still hope and pray that he will be found soon. The Game Warden captain told me that this has been the hardest search he has been involved in his 28 years.
We are asked often- “what can we do?” By being our friends and keeping our family in your prayers, you are doing all that anyone can do. We are all grateful for your concern and caring.
We love you all for being our friends and extend our wish that you have the happiest holiday season. Hug you love ones every day and tell them you love them.
Love Barbara & Donnie
Comments: Happy Jack, I did join the Old Pro's Stint Club on Friday. Had a little blockage, the Doc fixed the problem, good for another 200,000 miles. All you guys should think about taking the stress test. I had no clue I needed the procedure. Bay Capps will now move me into the Heart Patient Foursome. They don't talk trash, politics, or sports. It's Flomax, Lipitor, Plavix and little blue pills. I will have the Botox Kid assisting me Monday. It's kinda cute watching him dig a drain line in tight pants and pointed toe shoes. |
