Not a single post on the g/b all day?  Can't allow that to pass.

Older son, Greg, arrived from Iraq last weekend.  Middle son (my stepson) Chad & his wife, Meredith, arrived from Dallas, GA, late Xmas night.  It's been a real food & drink fest ever since.  We're going out for Tex-Mex tonight to inject a little variety, then back to leftovers again tomorrow.

Kathy rcvd a new 'Lady Smith' (S&W) .38/.357 cal. revolver from Santa, so we all headed out to the range yesterday for test firing.  She says it's a keeper - that makes 2 of us.

Best wishes to all!

Happy Birthday Barbara.  Sounds like everyone had a great Christmas.  We had a great one so far. Still have one more to go with the kids at the lake on Saturday.  Then it is off to Kerrville on Monday with a couple or stops on the way for New Years Eve.

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND STAY SAFE

Hey Barbara Williams Arnold - - Happy B-day girl.  People always think it's great having a b-day at Christmas, but we know differently, don't we!  Hope today was extra special for you!!

I've had a great 24th & 25th!!!!  Lots of family & food.  I cooked for two days and we have eaten all day long.  It was so wonderful to share the first Christmas in our house with all our family, they made it special!!!

Virginia called yesterday & asked me to thank all of Don's friends here on the GB for being so kind & supportive.  She appreciates the cards, calls and those who attended the visitation & funeral services.  A special thanks to Charles M, Jack H, Len R, Craig J, Bovie B & Rick W for carrying out Don's last wishes by being his pall bearers!!!  Virginia doesn't have a PC.  She will remain at the apt for 60 days as that's when the lease will expire.  After that she will probably move.  Her dtr lives by herself & wants Virginia to move in with her, at least for awhile.  Don & Virginia's address in the dir is wrong, they moved into an apt about a year ago.  If you need the current address - -  email me.

I know for some this has not been a joyous Christmas.  But I pray God will lift the burden from your hearts and bring you peace once more.  Please drive safely this New Year's Eve & let's pray 2009 will be kinder to our GB family!!
Merry Christmas and have a safe & Happy New Year!!!

Hey Richard N. - here is a comment regarding your brother Jack that was posted today on the Class of '62 Guestbook. The poster is Paul Speaks who spent many years in the Navy, then got into the "acting" business. He is directing his story at Mike Wolverton:

Quote:

Mike W., a little story cause I haven't told one in a while. I, and my late wife's family, were friends with the Nance family and were lucky enough to have Brother Nance, Jack's grandfather marry us; the last wedding he did. When we lived in LA, Jack would come by the house from time to time, always sober though no one in LA would believe it; Dennis Hooper, who dryed him out, called the house more than once looking for him. He had a little problem with his in-laws as you might have heard and thanks to the Van Dyke's I think, had alienated himself from a lot of producers and directors, except for David Lynch. There are a lot of stories floating around about Jack and admittedly enough were true to have Dennis keeping an eye on him, but at my house and in front of my kids, he was always a gentleman. I encouraged him a number of times to come to that reunion and he wasn't interested. I was shocked when he walked through the door. We talked a few times of doing something together but the money was never there, or the schedules didn't fit, or no one would listen to us. I wish very much that we could have; Jack, when given a decent script was a very good actor. I miss Jack and think of him often.

Kathy & I wish all our dear SOCite friends a very Merry Christmas today, wherever you may be.  Please know that if ‘merry’ doesn’t seem quite the case, it is our sincere wish for you & yours, just the same.  Our prayers continue for all who have suffered the loss of loved ones recently, and for those still recovering from medical issues.  May God bless all our SOC “extended family”, those who have departed our earthly presence and all our troops in harm’s way.  ~ Don & Kathy

Than ks to everyone for the good wishes yesterday.  i spent the day with an IRS agent at a clients office.  Won't go into details but I have had more enjoyable days.  After I finished with that things got much more enjoyable.

I think several of you have said it as well as can be, previously.  Merry Christmas To All

It is really nice to have some old friends when times are are trying.  Joyce and I are keeping those in need in our thoughts and prayers as we celebrate this time of the year.

Wanted to take a minute and wish a Very Merry Christmas to all the Golden Bears our friends who join us here. This has been a tough year for the Class of 66 and this is not the most joyous season we can remember, but we have leaned on each other and gotten closer going through it. Makes hugging when we see each other all that more important.  Remember the reason for the season. May blessings and peace be with you all!!
