Comments: Ada Ann, SNL -- The only time my husband has swept the garage (completely) is when his mother spent 11 days with us b/t Christmas and New Years. I was wondering where he was and opened the garage door and there he was sweeping and sweeping and sweeping. I don't think he wanted to come back into the house. Would you, if your mother said that you weren't stirring the gravy correctly? He makes excellent gravy. Anyway, she's now gone to a better place (I hope) and now I sweep the garage.
Comments: I have really gotten behind on the GB so I will try to catch up. Happy Belated Anniversary to Shortcake and Bobby. Happy Belated Birthday wishes to Jimmie H. and my beautiful, YOUNG pal, Toni. Get well wishes go out to Ada Ann and Rick and any others feeling sickly now. Thanks Don L. for putting it so aptly and beautifully regarding the touching service for Brandon. It was moving but spirit lifting at the same time.
Comments: She has been in NH since Dec 19, and in our house since NYDay. She will not do anything to help unless she can take over completely. Not an easy person to deal with....and all of you know how easy I am to get along with!
Comments: I know what you mean Ada Ann!!!
Comments: I am feeling much better, but will feel even better when MIL goes back to Dallas on Sat!
Comments: Yes a little better . SNL, Thanks
Comments: Don, you described the service beautifully!!!!! It was quite emotional & a great tribute to a wonderful young man. May Michael, Belinda & Aaron and Donnie & Barbara all keep those beautiful memories forever in their hearts! Hey Rick & Ada Ann - are either of you feeling any better tda? JD, how's your neck doing? Can you button your shirts yet??
Comments: Coasty Don's account of the service was right on target. I would like to make note that Bovie's phone didn't ring, not even once during the service. JD has the swelling gone down yet???
Comments: Ronney, I don't know if she is doing well, I just found her through the Internet, I can't get a PH no. so will have to send a post card.
Comments: On a more serious note - Don & Barb's post below mentions that Mike put together a video celebrating Brandon’s life at the memorial service this past Sat. As many of you already know, Don does quite a terrific job of producing reunion & mini get-together videos. Well, having attended the service, I can tell you first hand that this sort of artistry runs in the family - Mike blew us all away!
Along with a hotel banquet room full of guests, we were treated to a viewing of what must've been nearly every Fugate family photo for the last 18 yrs or so; laced with words of encouragement and a variety of music - some appropriate for such an event, plus a few non-traditional tunes that picked up the tempo and even rocked us – Brandon would approve.
We saw pics ranging from chubby, grinning newborns to handsome high school graduates with winning smiles. There were birthday parties, complete with silly “I am (age) yrs old today” messages written across bare chests with red marker; school student photos for each year and players in uniform for every youth sporting activity imaginable; numerous family and friends, many hugs & lots of kisses; laughing together, fun-loving and just simple rip-your-heart-out tender moments. There was not a dry eye or clear throat in the room for at least half an hour during the presentation, plus a few of us needed some additional time to catch our breaths out in the lobby afterward. Mike hit a heavenly homerun with this outpouring of fatherly love to pay tribute to a one-of-a-kind son. May God bless this family with peace and many more fond memories.
Comments: SNL - Re: Ronney's b'day comment about Toni's age - I think you misspelled 'short list'. After all, Ronney's been her life-long snake charmer & he'll never get that one off her list.
Comments: Happy Big Birthday to you dear Toni---and remember---- You're not 60, you're 21---with 39 years of drinking experience!
Comments: Ada/Rick, I hope you guys are feeling better soon. Bruce did not go to work today. I guess he has the crud too! He didn't complain a time during my birthday celebration yesterday with my family but when they all left, we both collapsed. Entirely too much fun was had with the Wii bowling, tennis, golf, and Rockband I and II...geez, were we exhausted. Happy belated birthday, Jimmie. We also check out the cabin when we board a SWA flight to check to see if you're on board! Each week as Bruce travels through Meredian, he calls and says, "hello from Meredian"! Well, what a dismal birthday-day...rain and ice everywhere! Darn, 60 sounds so old. Thanks everyone for the nice birthday wishes. I've lounged around all day while Bruce slept the day away. I'm off to get a mani/pedi to treat myself for my b/d. John Southworth, thanks for the special b/d wishes but I think J.D. nailed the sombrero story! Mexican food sounds good but I think we'll wait on that until this weekend when we celebrate with Shortcake and Cubby...we're killing two birds with one stone...their anniversary (belated anniversary wishes you two lovebirds) and my birthday! Linda P, I had almost forgot about the bug flying out of my roll at N-M last year. That was fun...except for the bug thing! Ronney, thanks so much for the well-thought-out birthday wishes....and it's great to know that your new job landed in your lap...and that you still have a lap! Just kidding, of course! ![]() Before I forget, I received the best birthday card ever...from my Ya-Ya sister, Sandy Crowe....it's a talking card about sending greetings to an elderly person. We've listened to it no less than a couple of dozen times, and have laughed each time. Thanks again, Sandy, for thinking of me. Here's to a better and brighter 2009 to us all. P.S. Would I now get a senior discount on that cruise?
Comments: I have asked the government to put me in the witness protection program before Toni can find me.
Comments: Thanks, Rick. I am the one who asked about Dorthea. Glad to know she is doing well. If you have info on her, please invite her to our mini-reunions. I am sure a number of us (especially those of us from Bushman and Zumwalt) will be glad to see her. |
