Comments: Susan: That employee discount "ain't" much, I assure you. We have a Jenn-Aire refrigerator/freezer. It was great for 8 years. Now it is a monster. The repairman cannot seem to get the defrost feature straightened out. It works about a month, then blows out the circuit board. Luckily, I learned how to manually defrost it. I got sick and tired of throwing away food. Our Kenmore in the garage is 26 years old and has only had one minor service. I will stick with Kenmore from now on. My daughter said it was good that I would be selling refrigerators at Sears because I could get a discount. The discount is HARDLY worth the effort. I would save more buying one when it is on sale than I would with the employee discount. Thanks, for the congrats on the Director of Admissions and the Sears jobs. The work getting a new seminary started is a killer. SO much work to be done.
Comments: Karen, I apologize for typing in the wrong name for Bobby. Sounds like you had a good New Years. Did you and Toni go to lunch at N-M this year? If so, Toni, how were there any little critters flying around your bread (was it Yorkshire Pudding?) Hope not. Two times would be too much. Congratulations Ronney on the upcoming Director of Admissions job and the current job at Sears. Ask Sandra McMakin Crowe about Sears. Her family had a long relationship with the company. Don't people surprise you in a negative way when you think they would never. We drove to Hico today. It's such a nice little town with some upscale stores. One of the stores reminded me of a store in Fredericksberg where the furniture and material (very expensive) looked old, but was new. Ate supper at the Koffee Kup. Pie was better than the grilled catfish. Also went thru Meridian. Found a fun shop to browse in with mostly new accessories and a few antiques. I liked the town and even in winter the countryside was rolling hills and lots of ranches.
Comments: Congratulations, Ronny! The admissions postion sounds like it will be really interesting for you! In the meantime, do you let your SOC friends use your employee discount at Sears??!!
Comments: By the way, everyone. I am now the Director of Admissions for the International Christian Theological Seminary. It is a new Baptist seminary just forming in Plano. I never applied for the job. It literally fell in my lap. (Who would ever imagine me in a seminary???? )One of my close friends is a retired preacher, named Larry. He is about a year older than I. He is the director of the seminary. He asked if I would consider writing some grants for them. I told him I would be glad to. Next thing you know, I was asked to teach a couple of classes....than asked if I would be Director/Dean of Admissions. I am now doing extremely excellerated work on a theology degree. I always thought theology would be boring. I am finding it fascinating. The new seminary's goal is to reach people who normally might not be able to afford other seminaries. And, we want to better train people for the mission field. You can read more about it on the Faith Baptist Missions, Inc. website, at www.fbmi.us. We probably will not have classes until the fall. So, I probably won't make money, except from the grants, until then. To get by until that time, I will start selling refrigerators at Sears at the Stonebriar Mall in Frisco, this week. If you need a refrigerator or freezer, please remember me. You can e-mail me to find out when I will be at work. Thanks everyone. You are a great group and I am proud to be a member of the SOC 1966 class.
Comments: Well, "Wrap," I could probably use the hosing down! haha! I will just have to make a trip to Kerrville someday and try The Stagecoach Inn, on your recommendation. Glad you had a fun New Year's Eve. We just went to the movies and came back home. We usually spend New Year's Eve with another family. But, after the things that they said to us on Thanksgiving (one issue for example, telling us that we had to chose between our new daughter-in-law or their friendship...apparently they didn't like the new pecking order in our family) we have broken ties with them. They are trying to apologize. I am an extremely forgiving person (too forgiving for my own good probably), but the rest of my family isn't. So, that 23-year friendship is down the drain for the time being. We enjoyed spending the evening alone with one another. We haven't done that for years. It was very relaxing and enjoyable.
Comments: Watch it Ronney - you know I can run faster then you and I do still have my water gun from Gordy's party-Tallcake, and the rest of us got real good with those things! We really had a great time & the weather this year was absolutely wonderful. We had two parties on New Years - 1 indoors and 1 in the afternoon outdoors. Bobby & I stopped at my favorite place to eat coming back from Kerrville-The Stagecoach Inn. I have gone there for many years & just love that place. The food is great!

Comments: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, Bubble-Wrap...I mean Reynolds-Wrap!!!!!! My mother (always the optimist) gave our marriage about 6 weeks. I wanted to slap her for her vote of confidence. Well, to prove her wrong, we will have our 30th on St. Patrick's Day. ![]()
