I wonder if SNL survived the weekend....I barely did but I really enjoyed having the grandones.  My son picked the younger one up yesterday mid-day and he was off to a train  exhibit with the other grandmother, and we had the older one until I took him home last night, and then he was off for a sleep-over with another friend.  Where do they get all of their energy?

Richard - you do have a point there!

Susan/Linda P - I'll second your recommendation about Gran Tortino - Eastwood was great!

Happy Belated Birthday Mr. Barker....hope it was a good one!

Tomorrow is a special historical event for those posting on this website......for the first time, we'll be older than the President of the United States.  I guess that's a good thing...I guess.

Susan -- We saw "Gran Torino, " Saturday night.  Just like you, I LOVED the movie.  Thought that it was the best movie I've seen in a long time.  Of course, Clint (now) isn't as purty as Brad, but he was "in the day."

Sandra -- When are you coming over to my house to help me get ready for my Feb. 5 meeting?  I need some expert advice on where to hang some pics of my grandkids.

Baywatch, Botox is headed to Jackson Hole Wy. this week. Think we can find a few geezers with $2.00 to join us? Have you been taking putting lessons from Cold Cash Dagley?

I don't know, Sandy ... "dog" movies always make me sad.

Except for "Cujo".

John, you should go see Marley and Me.  At the end of the movie Marley turns in to Marley the Magnificent and flies away.  He comes back as Marley the Monkey.  You'll like it!
Yes, it's a long break.  I'm trying to hang a picture now.
Hi Gary D.  It's been a long time since you wrote anything.
SNL must still be sleeping.

Yes, it was a '72 Ford Gran Torino.  In the movie, Clint Eastwood owns one.

JS, I don't want to give away the ending.  All I can say is it's a very good movie and I'm glad I went to see it.  You'll have to draw your conclusions from that.

Dear Susan, answer two questions for me about the movie.

1. Does it have a happy ending?
2. What is the translation of "Gran Torino"?

The movies I see need to have a happy ending. Back around 1980 the sci-fi movie "Alien" came out. My next door neighbor was one of the first to see it. The previews kind of scared me. I asked my neighbor (David Bounds) if it had a "happy ending"?

David paused a second then said "Yeah. Yeah, it does. You'll like it".  The next week my wife and I were sitting in the theater as the 8th of the 9 spaceship crew members were meeting gruesome deaths. Only "Ripley" (Sigourney Weaver) survived.

I asked David "what gives?. The movie was a blood bath!" David replied, "Well, weren't you happy when Ripley made it out?"

[insert heavy sighing sound]

We went to see "Gran Torino" last night.  Excellent!  I highly recommend it.  Classic Clint Eastwood.

John - Following MLK Day tomorrow, I think the inauguration would be a good day to mark the beginning of a new era - one that credits this generation for trying to reconcile a portion of our history & considers spending a bit less time feeling shameful of it.

BTW - Due to other circumstances beyond my control, I have to work tomorrow.

So, who's your pick for the NFL playoffs and/or Superbowl?  Not the Cowboys or Texans, unfortunately, again.
