Aren't you retired John?
You better check with Mr. Patel before you give me the day off. (that's an evil smile)

Yes, Sandra. No mail delivery on Monday.

You have my permission to take the day off. I plan to do likewise.

Memo To Carol Carpenter:

Your approach to the annual ordeal of "resolutions" is far too labor intensive. Consider this alternative which was posted on the Class of '63 Guestbook by one of their elite thinkers.

J. S-worthington comments:
Quote:

A few days ago I "outsourced" my 2009 Resolutions to India. For $400 (about 8 Rupees) a fellow named Kundawala Patel will be responsible for selecting and achieving ALL my resolutions. He will report back to me at each quarter-end with a detailed progress report. I can hardly wait til March 31 to see just what my Resolutions are! Wish me luck!

Also, Carol, don't forget that Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - a great opportunity to feel ashamed of our white ancestors.

1)  Work on my tendency to procrastinate.
2)  Do not get behind on the '66 Guestbook.
3)  Lose 15 pounds - again!
4)  Transfer my vast fortune to a Cayman Islands account prior to January 20, 2009.
5)  Acquire a vast fortune prior to January 20, 2009.

January 17, 2009
1)  Am in the process of perfecting this tendency.
2)  Starting today.
3)  We'll see.
4)  Depends upon #5.
5)  Not looking hopeful.

Love and good wishes to all, but especially to those who are / have been ailing.  ...and congratulations on recent birthdays, anniversaries, and Ronney's new job!

Isn't it great to know that you will, at some point, be able to give them back to their parents.  It is great to play with them and spoil them rotten, but it is great to give them back and collapse in a chair also!

Ada Ann -- Last night we had Bible study and I put your name in for prayer concerns.  So, now, you have First Baptist Church of Duncanville lifting you up in prayer.  From 1990 to 1996 I worked for a liver disease specialist at UT Southwestern.  He was rated 1 of the 3 best in the world.  A lady I worked with was a devout Catholic and a wonderful woman.  She had 4 (living) sons and one of them lived in North Carolina and had some kind of chronic  problem caused from a deficient liver.  He had to have all things a liver transplant and guess who we worked for.  She told our doctor about her son and he put her in touch with a liver disease specialist in North Carolina near where her son lived.  Her son was put on the list and eventually received a liver transplant.  She and I joked that if the Baptists and Catholics were praying for him, how could he not get his liver and God put her in a place working for a liver specialist.  Her oldest son had passed away at 18 from the same chronic liver disease, but at that time, medicine had not progressed enough to know how/what to treat it.

ADA:

I hate to hear the news. But, you hang in there and keep a good disposition about this. You will be fine. I am glad you can feel all the hugs we are sending your way. Our class is really good at giving hugs and prayers. Just wish you weren't so darned far away so we could literally give you hugs in person. You know that we love you.  I am praying for you.
