Don L - In keeping with the Clinton Gang theme . . . You nailed it!!!

Seems the Clinton's took anything that wasn't permanently attached. Laura was replacing some of the missing dishes as they needed more place settings for the number of guests during dignitary dinners. She should have sent the bill to Hillery.

I have a TV in my ofc and was lucky enough to watch the Inauguration Ceremonies. Lots of pomp, circumstance & tradition. Very impressive & quiet moving no matter who you voted for in Nov. Only downer was Aretha - she sang and was awful!! Off key, mumbled her words... terrible!

Donna - You are a walking miracle! Sounds like you are moving back to TX!! Please give me your new address when you get here!!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I have 3 kids, 9 grandkids and 4 great grandkids. Never a dull moment. Ada Ann I was told by two different doctors a couple of years ago I had lung cancer. After a PET scan during which I died and was brought back and later a CAT scan where it happened again I am still here proving them wrong. You keep a positive attitude and know that all your friends here keeping you in their prayers and sending you toms of love. To all that are ill, feel better. I don't know about ya'll but I can tell you old age is a pain. EVERYWHERE.

JS/RN - The former 1st lady was probably just trying to do a final good deed for the incoming residents - replacing a portion of what the 'Clinton Gang' rode outa town with when they left - that's just the dishes!

RoseMary called last night & asked me to tell ya’ll she certainly appreciates all the prayers from everyone. She had surgery Thursday & went home Sat afternoon. The repair work & surgery went well & she’s glad to be home. She doesn’t have a PC at home so she is unable to access the GB until she returns to work. She sends her love & thanks to everyone with a special note to Ada Ann and Donnie & Barbara - - She continues to pray for ya’ll & sends hugs!

As I watch the inauguration taking shape, I find I am still angry at Laura Bush for spending $485,000 on new china for the White House. Heck, she won't even be there to enjoy the purchase.

And why didn't she just do like the rest of us? Spend six years saving up 40 books of Green Stamps to purchase a nice floral print set of Melmac dishware. Could it be that she's gotten above her raisin'?

One more observation - what if she bought the NEW plates just to replace some old plates that she's sneakin' out the back door? Mark my words - if we start seeing a bunch of White House dishes for sale on eBay, we will all know who the Seller is!

it's still there, I hear the bank has forclosed on the property and the City has shut them down for operating a fruit stand without a permit. Sorry that was a bad joke.

J.D., I wonder if either the South Loop Drive-In or your old homestead is still standing? Could you see the screen from your porch?

At the drive-in, I had the habit of placing the speaker on the passenger side window of the back seat - to get that quasi rear-speaker effect. One night I drove off and ripped the speaker right off its post. Somehow it didn't damage the car window. Scared the heck out of me and Betty Gibbs (or whomever it was I was with?).

I kept that speaker for a couple of years but there wasn't much you could do with it.
