Comments: Sandy and Don, Happy Anniverary! 24 years! WOW!
Comments: Thanks to Sandy McGee and others who confirmed the old neighborhood was "Glenview", not Singing Hills. [Dale Smiley, take note ... I'll collect later]. I can remember that my folks wished they lived in Singing Hills. It was considered upscale to the homes in Glenview. As kids we would razz our friends who lived in Singing Hills by accusing them of living in Screaming Hills. On a more important topic, Dru and I would like to take a moment to wish SNL and Don a very happy anniversary and a romantic Valentine's Day.
Comments: Sally, Barb D., we did live in Glenview. The people that lived in Singing Hills had the bucks. There was a golf course, lots of hills, nice houses. I would walk over to Wayne Pennington's house and slide up and down the streets when school was closed due to ice and snow. Old Cable Guy Fugate would join us, we had to wake him up. The boy partied all night , would sleep late. We did spend alot of time at the end of Rocky Ridge. All you girls wore those tight short shorts. Really nice, and you thought we just wanted to play, tee hee.....
Comments: Sandy and Don, I wish you a very happy anniversary....celebrate all day! To all of you, happy Valentine's Day....make someone happy!
Comments: H a p p y 24thA n n i v e r s a r y !!! to Sandy Norman Lynn & Don Broughton, on Valentines Day, Feb. 14th! Major congrats, you 2 love birds - best wishes & may you celebrate many happy returns!
Comments: Well all, guess I was early, but I had flowers and chocolates delivered to the love of my life today. She sent me a text and they delivered them to her at work. Just got a big hug and kiss. Told her though she needs to leave since Sarah will be home in 20 minutes. Happy VD tomorrow ladies. Love ya, Sam
Comments: Barbara, I am sure Don Radke lived there. He, Dennis and Rob Williams were always doing things-- were you there when they sent a rocket with a doodle bug or beetle off to space? I thought that was so exciting. We were probably in 7th or 8th grade. Yes, Sammy stole my shoes and put them in his bicycle basket and took off. He didn't know I was fast enough to catch up to him. I grabbed his bicycle, it stopped short and he flew over the handle bars and broke his arm. His mom never liked me after that--wonder why? But MY mom was such a sport-- she took us (girls) around and we threw his newspaper from the back of our station wagon. I think Mom had fun-- we did! The neighborhood I live in IS a neighborhood. Of course the people change--mostly they get old and . . .I walk down the street and almost always meet somone I know. You don't believe it but it is like a small town here, if you work for the university and live in the neighborhood.
Comments: Thanks SNL but the date may not work this year...won't know for a couple of months.
Comments: Hope all never forget that some of us lived a little further East...like next to the Loop 12 Drive-In Theater...but my memories are still good...and I too wish we had the opportunity to return to the area we grew up in like many small communities. Where we live in Kenosha, it is somewhat like that in that most graduates come home and establish themselves in the community and take over the role their parents had when they were alive...it just makes friendships stronger. BTW...it's nice not talking the "P" word...
Comments: Sally - I have great memories of us being outside all the time too. I also remember when your mom had to drive Sammy Smith's paper route because somehow you were involved in him breaking his arm??? And I may be wrong about Don Radke living in that neighborhood, he may have just hung out over there because he was Dennis Bishop's best friend. Singing Hills was farther out Marsalis; our neighborhood was off Laureland just a few blocks south (I think south; going toward Laureland Cemetery) of Marsalis but I don't remember any neighborhood name. I lived on Hillvale. |
