Annette, read it closer Dudette. They're rejecting "some" of the money...I would expect just enough to say they're tough guys.  Republican, Democrat...doesn't matter,,, these guys don't turn away money....how can they steal it if they don't have access to it?

Don't worry John, I'm NOT selling my coveted 1953 Den....  not every!  It sits right on top of my other 3 Dens from my SOC days.

Robert, it's good to hear from you, but am so sorry about the loss of your eye.  Let's pray your other one holds it own and remains good.  Take care Robert!

SNL, you might want to follow this one closely as a value benchmark ...

A true piece of vintage SOC history has arrived on eBay this week. A vendor named Sherry out of nearby Spring, TX is selling a copy of the very First Edition of The Den from 1953.

Current bid is $36.00; auction ends Friday. Should be interesting to follow. Go to www.ebay.com and enter "south oak cliff" in the search box to locate the item. Original owner was Bobby Plyler.

Don/Annette, those articles are a bit dated. My understanding is the momentum is going the other way.  The notion of a politician turning down cash seems counter-intuitive to me (republican or democrat).  I'll bet you a drink at the next gathering all eleven states end up taking some, if not all that is offered to them.

FYI - A little info about the base where our older son, Greg, has been working since Oct. '07.  At last, he's finished with his contract & will be leaving there sometime this coming Sun., assuming flight availability & no interference from sandstorms this time.  Cross everything & pray hard!

Annette - Great article.  An earlier link from when there were only 5 States' Governors, including TX - bravo for their courage & hope it builds momentum:

Don and Barb,
The Website is wonderful.  I'll be budgeting a donation.  David worked in search and rescue when he was with the Duncanville Fire Department and I know how appreciated the dive teams are, but little known to do to help them.  Most help was from the spouses and fellow dive team members in getting them through each rescue, as each was different in it's own way and brought different trauma and nightmares, etc. to each of the rescue team members.  No matter the affect on them, they were focused on their calling and would go right back out there.

This is a wonderful memorial.

God bless each of you in your personal struggles.
