Happy Jack & Toni-Did you think I could not check the GB from Galveston    Just so you will know "Cubby" & I talked with the DPS director and he is having his troopers keep a watch on the RV.  They have a description of you two & one of them is setting into just waiting for one of you to show up   I'll be looking for empty bottles!

Sandy, Sandy, Sandy ... Don't forsake me, oh my darlin'.

Obviously you and Dale have forgotten my deep western heritage, being directly descended from the lineage of Tex Ritter and my Aunt Dorothy Fay.

Ranchin' and Foremanin' are in my blood.

Dale, he may just have something there.  If you got some "doggies", John could be your Poo per Scooper Engineer. (Just tell him he cannot go near the lake) It might make him feel worth while.  Maybe Dru just needs to let him out of the computer room more often.

Sandy,
You are so right about John. I don't think he qualifies as a ranch manager. He asked me if we planned to raise Dachshunds because he had heard cowboys on a ranch say " get a long little doggie"

Dale, don't fall for Southworth's, he'll watch the Ranch.  Before you know it he'd be opening a fish market and your grand kids would have nothing to do when they come.
I've figured you out JS

Mr. Southworth,
The gate at the ranch already has letters 14" tall saying " Lazy G Ranch" (the previous owner was named Gaylon) and has a registered brand. We are thinking of just replacing the "G" with an "S" for Smiley. Seems like a good name.

Jack - Yes, we have a karaoke bar here in Lago, but I didn't know that was Bruce up on stage!

Toni - What's the 'official' purpose of Bruce's trips out our way?

Toni - Jack, I caught that "karaoke" reference!!  It made me laugh!     I know for a fact Jack has a good voice & Bruce is another Dion or Bobby Rydell.

Hi Y'all - Well, we have internet service, but my e-mail (not Kathy's) is down.  Last e-mail was rcvd fm Jack about 6:15 night before last & nothing else since.  So, pls hold e-mails til I can get a PC-enema to make Outlook regular again.

My back-up hard drive is down & need to work on it.  Our central A/C unit is also inop, so a repairman is coming out later.  Glad it's still somewhat cool outside & ceiling fans are keeping us comfortable.

Toni - Yes, we had quite a thunderstorm night before last, including enough hail that it looked like snow covering the ground.  Some that were golf ball size knocked a coupla chunks out of our sky-light, but luckily it's double-layered & didn't get all the way thru.

Probably need to have the roof inspected for cracks, altho no shingles missing.  Severe hail damage isn't easily recognizable, except by a pro & can cause leaks later.  Hope we don't need another new roof - this would be the 4th in 13 yrs.

So, I guess this is gonna be a fixer-up weekend & I need to get up on the roof with some duck tape to patch holes before it rains again.

Memo To Rancher Dale:

With 314 acres, man, I'd fit right in; plus it would allow me to follow the words of that famous group of female philosophers who once sang "I need wide open spaces .... room to make a big mistake".

You MUST come up with a suitable "ranch name" and corresponding branding iron. I think it's a law. Here is one to consider - "El Rancho de Sonrisas" ... the Ranch of Smiles (get it? ... kind of a play on the family name ... Smiley ... Smiles).

In the event of a future sale of the property, such a name would be far more marketable than, say, Rattlesnake Ranch.

I'll bet you're looking for an elderly couple to serve as Ranch Forepersons during the months you aren't present at the ranch? Dru and I might be interested in the job, depending on the RPA Ratio (rattlesnakes/per acre).

Have your people call my people.
