Richard Nance's previous post about the Fab Four strikes a chord with me this morning as I work on my tax return.

Even 40 years down the road, the prophetic words of The Beatles still hold true as demonstrated in this early performance:

Well I just talked with Rick Watts who's cooling his heels at Sunset Beach.  Unfortunately, I'm 300 miles to the north cooling my heels in my office.  This is the second time I've failed to take him to happy hour while he's in town.....maybe his 3rd trip out will do it.  Happy hour's always available to any of you that travel this way, if you're so inclined.

...another thing we know for sure....the cruise lines still have docks....Cubby and Shortcake left out of Galveston this past Sunday with a boat-load of Eastern Star-ites!  I'm really surprised that Gaido's is still up and running after all these years.

Sally - Geneva and I spent the first week of March in Galveston for a conference w/ the Texas Veterans Commission. A lot of Seawall Blvd is back up and running and a bunch of motels and businesses are just gone or torn up. We did not go to Bolivar or Crystal Beach where most of those parts were completely destroyed. There is a tremendous amount of work to be done. We stayed at the Hilton Inn and they were just closed for 2 weeks and Gaido's Rest was closed for just 4 days. The fishing pier at 61st street is gone. UTMB was a ghost town and they only had a Level 2 trauma clinic on the island at the time.

I s/w Sue Ash McDow earlier & Mike McDow's mother, Norma McDow, passed away around 6:00pm today.  Arrangements have not been confirmed yet, but she will be at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville.  She had been living at Grace Presbyterian in Oak Cliff.  Sue thinks the family visitation will be Thur nite.  You can check Jaynes website to get all details as soon as they are posted.  http://www.jaynesmemorialchapel.com/index.php

Mike & Sue don't have a home PC, so cards would be nice.  Please put Mike, Sue & their family in your prayers.  May God comfort both of you as you grieve for Mike's mom.

Hey Mitchell, speaking of the Fab Four, the History channel's doing a bit on the 60's.  If you spot it watch it.  It's kind of interesting the analysis they do on that time period with 40 years or so of hindsight.

JD, If you work for the government, the government can set your salary.  If you don't. . . . Don't you have other things to worry about?  Personally, I worry about other things right now, rather than that extra 5 million dollars I was not going to get this year anyway!  But I am that liberal you were mentioning.
So, has anyone been to Galveston since IKE?  Thank you Texans for keeping the Medical School there.  There was a rumor that Austin wanted one of their own and would get UTMB but now signs are that it is allowed to stay.  Now that is a good thing or the town would die.  Half the population is probably tied to UTMB and the other half to tourism.
So, the beach is being rebuilt and all the spring breakers were there sunning themselves -- a little too cold for a Texan but not for those from Wisconsin and other cold climates. Saddest thing is all the dead trees, especially the old live oaks along Broadway.  Most did not survive the salt water.  AND, the nature preserve  and bird sanctuary had only dead plants and no birds-- but the weather was nice and warm.  I was there too early for the bluebonnets, though.  BAck in NYC and miss Texas right now!

JD, do you listen to Rush?  He calls Barney Frank the "Banking Queen" and has a song about it to the tune of "Dancing Queen".  Really funny even though the over all subject is not!

JD, you're going to give yourself a coronary reading these right wing leaflets you & the Dudette come up with.  I don't know how you find 'em.

Well, well all Liberial and Progressive classmates, especially those in NY...please don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. I predicted some time ago that the government would eventually get around to controlling everyones pay regardless of what company they work for...here is evidence that this is the first step.

Don't you just love the fact that government can waste and throw away millions, but want to control our wages.

The Socialist President Hussein Obama and Senator Fag Barny Frank from Massachusetts are on their way to taking us to socialism and maybe even beyond Hitler!

Donna, What the heck?  You have been on my prayer list, but another prayer is added for you.  KMG, you are so right....although there are health issues among us, there are so many wonderful things to celebrate.....new babies, engagements, etc...life is a full circle, isn't it?

So many classmates in need of prayer and encouragement. Donna, you have my prayers for a total recovery as does Ada Ann and also BLB's daughter. But there is also much joy as Don L. joins the ranks along with Ada Ann and even myself as an expectant grandparent (although this won't be my first) and an engagement for RN's daughter. It's obvious that all of us keep each other in thought and prayer and that is what is so special about this class.
