Annette, I would like to hang around here in Sunny S. California to see you but
I have to leave tomorrow.  I am in Sunset Beach now, went to a convention in Huntington Beach. The ocean is great, I love it.
Richard, sorry we couldn't connect again. Maybe in July when I'll be here again. I have to go look for some Antique stores now.

Richard, your Beatles guess was well thought out, but NO CIGAR!

On another topic, at our advanced age, Dru and I are expecting a grandbaby around July 1st. I am hoping he will be as precocious as this lad:

YIPPEEE! Headed off to Sunny S. California! Gonna spend the next 2 weeks lounging on beaches between Malibu and Lagooooooona. and knocking down drinks with dear old friends and relatives.
Just love the sounds of the ocean, and hobnobbing with my lovely liberal friends. I do love them, and we actually have fun conversations. I AM actually very liberal on some issues-----I draw the line though on Government Control of most things! That's where ARE NOT being liberal. Deep at heart I'm not very conservative---just really a Libertarian---like a lot of Texans.
I love the freedoms we have, and believe me, in Texas we have a lot more than some other places.
God bless you all dear friends, after all these years, we're more fun and more interesting that ever. My prayers are with all of us that are suffering....God speed to all of you.

Jack, You can  go to the USGS website and look at before and after pics of Ike at Crystal Beach. Unbelievable amount of destruction. Look at how the vegetation all died immediately from the salt water.

Well, Toni, your grandones taking after their granny can't be all bad! My brother and I took after our mother in not being afraid of snakes. My dad's side of the family.....WELL, if any of them saw the smallest olf little green grass snakes (VERY safe snakes), they had to go scoop out their britches real fast......after we revived them. I can still remember going out on the patio only to find my dad hacking a little green grass snake into one million pieces with a hoe. YET, my dad allowed my little green lizard to roam around free in the house. About the only difference in them was that one had legs and the other didn't. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!

Glad to hear the kids finally got the candy cobras. Did they ever taste them?

Jack - The Galvez was open as well as the Hilton, San Luis, and most of the bigger hotels/motels. The one/two story types looked to be still cleaning up and doing repairs. The Balanese (sp) Room, Monarch's Souvenirs and Hooter's were over the water and they are completely gone. Flagship is really damaged and they say homeless people are staying there now. Hard to believe they had as much water as they did.
