Comments: Hey, Sunsan Sunde: I just found out that Wayne Carlisle is your cousin. We worked together at Ericsson. He was a nice guy. He just sent me an e-mail saying he was looking at your Facebook page and noticed my name as one of your friends. What a SMALL world. Ronney
Comments: I just talked with Judy Bass. Her sister, Martha Bass Hunt, SOC 63, who many know or met at our mini, husband Eddie, unexpectedly passed away last night from a heart attack. Lynell has posted info on the 63 site. Prayers for the family and our friends.
Comments: Buddy, I bet Butterfingers is at Neverland, paying his respects to the King of Pop.
Comments: I was wondering what has happened to the Butterfingers. No posting in a while. Maybe his Mex workers kidnapped him and turned him in to the Mex mafia for ransom. Now no one will step up and pay to have him released. What a releif !
Comments: Dale - Great old pic!! TNX to JS for posting it. Sally - I had no idea it could rain that much in NYC!! Wow, ya'll must be waterlogged. I'll take the Arizona like heat any day to cloudy and no sun! I love the sunshine & need it to keep me going. Here's wishing you & Ada Ann a sunny weekend & may all the GB Gang have a great 3-day holiday. Stay safe & have fun!!
Comments: Ada, Someone coined a new phrase-rain rage. I believe it rained all but two days in June and it rained today-yesterday, just thunder I think. The NY Times article below was from 6/20 and nothing has changed http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/20/nyregion/20rain.html It is a little warmer here, Ada, and actually the sun is out right now. Last week I was in Galveston and the 100+ weather with SUN was healing! So, I am back and I can take it for a while longer. Someone said that with global warming the NE is supposed to be wetter- but like England? I don't know!!
Comments: I really enjoyed getting to see Kenny Nelson at the golf outing. Here is a picture of him giving me a lesson on how to grip a football in 1955. Some of you really old geezers will recognize the "white" football they used to use for night games. Thanks Kenny. http://people.consolidated.net/swsw/kenny_and_dale.jpg
Comments: In all fairness, we should cut Neil Young some slack since after all he hails from Canada and is due the same admiration and courtesy we heap on the likes of Pamela Anderson AND his near-twin, K. D. Lang.
Comments: Yes, I agree with Mr. Smiley. As in Southern Man: Lily Belle, Neil and Lynard were both a bit racist. Could you send just a little of your heat my way. We are 60 degrees now and too much rain
Comments: Neil Young's song "Southern Man" was a stinging condemnation of the treatment of blacks in the deep South. In retaliation, the song "Sweet Home Alabama" took a backhanded swipe at Neil and indicated that a "Southern Man don't need him (him, being Neil) around anyhow". The tune was originally titled "Southworth Man" but later tweaked just a bit. Here are the final lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/neilyoung/southernman.html
Comments: Jack, Reference has something to do with "Neil" Young making unkind references to the South in some of his songs. Seems like Lynyrd Skynyrd took offense also.
Comments: OK, Doc or Ada Ann or whoever; I just hear the song "Sweet Home Alabama". One line is "we heard ole Neil put her down". Who is her? I used to know, but can't recall now. Yes, Dale, I still owe you.
Comments: Ronney, We referred to that school as " Hardened Sinners University" Seemed like lots of ACU guys dated HSU girls but not so many HSU guys dated ACU girls. I guess some of our guys did "go with girls that do"
Comments: Hey, Mr. Smiley: That Abilene chant only works for one part of Abilene. Hardin-Simmons University may be a Baptist university, but that chant definitely does not work there.
Comments: Good catch, guys. I thought she was looking for the Men's award and typoed mensa instead. |
