Back home now from my journey to Crockett for the funeral service of Eddie Z. Hunt. Of course I got to visit with Judy and Martha Bass. A very nice luncheon was served at the Methodist Church just prior to the 2:00pm service.

At the luncheon I shared a table with Lynell Garrett Smith ('63), her husband David, Jo Ann Farrell ('65) and Linda Wright McCoy ('66). Poor Linda had also attended the July 4th funeral of Kenneth Denniston ('61) in Carthage. Linda lives in the Cockrell Hill area in Big-D but is laying plans for a move.

Also, Linda shared some old memories of hanging out with nearby neighbor Sandy Lynn and SNL's wiener dog "Useless".

Bobby's new Grandone is now on Pride & Joy pg!  He's a real cutie.  KMD - Luke may have competition!!

Also, if you're looking for the photos taken on 6-13-09 at Martha Noah's home . . . they've moved!  They will be permanently displayed on our Veteran's pg.  I was also able to get 2 more photos put up to go with the original 2.  The link to the newspaper article is also there.  If you haven't gotten around to reading the article, please take a few minutes to do so.  It is very touching and will make you swell with pride!

Sarah and Sam, congrats on your anniversary.  Sarah, 40 years with the same guy is quite an accomplishment.  Bobby, another grandson...what a blessing.

Linda - Just remind your daughter of home rule #1: "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!"  Kathy used to have one of those signs hanging near the entrance to our kitchen.  We share in your concern for all our kids whenever they behave in a 'bullet-proof' manner, as their parents once did - and survived to tell about it.  We wish her a very enjoyable trip & safe return.

Sandy McM - You mentioned homemade peach ice cream & hit my sweet spot like an arrow.  My mother-in-law once served it to us over the top of homemade peach cobbler.  Now, that was a 10th degree 'OD' & I'm craving to do it all over again.

Geez Linda, you couldn't convince her to stay her in TX & try one of our fine law schools like maybe . . . SMU!  You could promise NOT to pay the elec bill for the dorm & it wd be just like Madrid!    How old is your dtr that's in route to Madrid?  I can see why you'd be worried abt those two side trips!!!  Let us know when you hear from her & when she's bk home too.

Sandra -- I want some peach ice cream.  Will you save some for me?

My youngest daughter left yesterday for Madrid, Spain to take 2 summer school law school classes with 78 other students at a university there. The program is sponsored by William and Mary. She will live in the unairconditioned dorms.  My concerns are that she will be taking 2 long weekend trips whil there with 2 other students (girl & boy); one side trip to Marakesh and the other trip to Istanbul.  Of course, when I talked to her about the danger of going to those other countries, I get the look that I'm being too cautious and shouldn't be concerned about it.  "I'll be fine, mom."

I was up at 4:00AM so I could go check to see if the "Weekend Warriors" left any big bass in the lake. They must have been pretty good, I didn't catch any thing over 5 pounds.  Yawn.... now it's nap-time. Nighty- Night

I too had a great 4th!!  We had some GREAT food at Gordy's house!!!   In fact, it's a good thing that guy spilled his tea & ice all over the floor & under the table BEFORE dinner, bec AFTER dinner Glynda & I were so full we'd never have been able to crawl under the table to clean it up!!

Don & I got home @ 9:00pm, crabbed our quilt & water & headed across the street to Breckinridge Park.  We had a great seat on top of a knoll with a light breeze & spectacular fireworks set off by the city of Richardson!!

Congratulations on the Grandone Bobby & yes I got the pics but you provided no info except his name.  Please send me the info I requested as inquiring minds want to know!

Jack, BTW . . . Ron Chapman's b-day is 1-25-36.  He was 73 this past Jan.  He's kinda like a Timex . . .  he just keeps on a tickin'!!!

Condolences to Martha Bass Hunt in the passing of her husband. It was a pleasure to meet her at our last mini and my heart go out to her at this time.

On the other hand, congratulations to Sam and Sarah as they play honeymoon all over again down by the Gulf of Mexico and also to Bobby B. over the birth of his new grandson. Life may mix sorrow with joy, but it's definitely worth the journey.

Like Jack and Glynda, Mike and I had a great time at Gordy's Fourth of July party. The food and friendship was plentiful. So plentiful in fact that no one could raise the energy to lift a loaded water cannon and thus a truce was formed that day. Hope all the rest of you had as much fun on your holiday too.

Happy Anniversary Sam & Sarah!!! Man, 40 years with Sammy, Sarah MUST be an angel.
Shovel Dog, it is nice of you to give up running with the bulls this year to comfort a classmate in her time of loss.
Great time, as always, at Gordy's. Missed those that didn't make it. We thought and talked about you. Did our best to eat your share of all the great food. Had a drink for you and talked about you. Brought out lots of stories. Hope you will all plan to make it next year.
Congrats, Bobby, on the new grandbaby!

Heading for Crockett, TX today and will meet Judy Bass for the second time in less than a month. Gathering of folks to say goodbye to Eddie Hunt who suddenly passed away last week. Some of you at the mini will remember his gregarious spouse Martha Bass ('63).
