I've seen Dale's Apple II in action. It has that neat boxy external 5.25 floppy external drive and the coolest dotmatrix printer with the paper that you have to tear off and pull off the perforated sides. It has a 64k memory chip, too.

Karen, you can probably find a similar model cheap at the Goodwill outlet next to the Pong machines and lava lamps.

Karen,
I really like my Apple II E. It has brick-out and lemon aide stand and solitaire and I can write stuff on a page and print it out. You can't beat the price either. Hope this helps. DWS

Happy Birthday to Betty, Charlotte and Charles. May it be your best birthday ever.

Okay, I need everyone's help. We are thinking of buying a new computer and Mike's daughter suggested we go with Apple this time. I just don't know if that's the best choice or not. Anyone who has opinions about Apple vs. PC, please let me know. This would be used as a home computer and not for business. Post your ideas here or email me if you prefer. Thanks!

Don, please tell Doug that he is in our thoughts and prayers.  I know you feel helpless but you have done a wonderful thing - asking for us to remember him in prayer.  What a great bro you are!

Rick, thank the Lord for small favors that your family was spared.  Bruce witnessed the aftermath of that horrible wreck up near Gainesville this week.  He said that it appeared from the wreckages and the skid-marks that a car cut in front of the 18-wheeler just before the traffic came to a complete stand-still, thus causing the horrible chain reaction.

Betty McKee, good to hear from you.  You are in good company on your birthday, along with Charlotte Hilburn Walker and Charles Hilburn.  Hope all of you enjoy your special day!

I heard through the grapevine (Bovie told me) that for some strange reason (could it be the video of the Silverton OR. mayor?) Pool Guy, Butterfingers McGee is considering running for mayor of McKinney. After he lets his hair grow out and IF he can find the "right" outfit and matching shoes, he will make the final decision. Can you picture a campaign run by Bovie and Buddy Capps?? Could be VERY interesting!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Betty!!!! I'm sure Don and Toni will add you to the "list". Y'all are getting an early start at school. My local district is scheduled to begin August 24th. One of Jerry Tillery's daughters is a teacher in Houston and he told me she is in the process of setting up her classroom now. I think it was better the way we had it. School starts after Labor day and lets out before Memorial Day. No spring breaks and no teacher in service days. I'm never sure when the school zones are in effect whit all the days off.
Anybody going to any townhall meetings?? Are there any STILL scheduled??

Many thanks for all your thoughtful notes & prayers for Doug - it's powerful medicine & certainly appreciated.

My prayers continue for Ada to continue Kick'n'A** & that Dane remain cancer-free - great news.

Rick we're all very thankful your family was  spared the unthinkable & wish them a full recovery.

Haven't been on here for a time, man the things you miss.
It is wonderful to have those guardian angels from the Lord to watch over us and protect us as happened with some of our SOC familly recently in a car wreck. (from what I could piece together reading the back posts.)
The ones I read about who are fighting cancer or some disease, you will be in my prayers.  Our God can handle it all.

As for me yesterday was my first day back for a new school year.  It seems that here in Topeka, KS school starts earlier and earlier each year.  Until last year I was never in school on my birthday, and this year we started on Aug. 5th, two days before my birthday.  These are the start dates for teachers to be back on duty.  Our students will start on Aug. 12th which is still way to early.
The weather was really nice here for the past few weeks and we have had the rain that you need down in Texas.  However this week we are heading back up into the 90's with lots of humidity.  I am still thankful that it is not in the 100's like all of you in Texas have been experiencing.  I hope it cools off for you soon and some rain would be nice.
