Sandy,  take a picture of your backsplash and put it on the GB or FB.  I'd love to see it!

I noticed via Facebook that Donna Riley Pratley had a bad horse riding experience yesterday. She (Donna, not the horse) broke 4 ribs, broke her ankle in 3 places and suffered a concussion.

A rough day at the ranch.

Good mrng!  Spent all wkend plus yesterday putting up the back splash in our kitchen.  OMG, now I know why those dng tile work get paid a lot more to do the "diamond point" pattern rather than the standard square pattern!!  It was hard matching every one of those points & keeping it all level, plus we put in accent pieces.  But it looks gorgeous & we love it!!  We looked off & on for over a year for just the right tile & accent pieces & finally found what we wanted.  Hey, we must be getting mellow in our old age, as we worked side by side for 3 days straight and not one fight or argument!

Oh, I meant to put a link to Raymond Trojacek's obit & forgot.  It also brings up another obit, but scroll down to his.  It makes us realize how precious friendships are when we lose a classmate or a classmate loses a spouse!

If any of you knew Sandra like I did...please send her a note...when she lost her granddaughter a couple of years ago...I sent a note and she wrote me the most wonderful letter. I worked with her at the stables...she is a great person.

Well, I know you guys are used to the weather Kathy & I are having in AZ this week...but we're not...and are loving the sun.

Had a great time with Mary Ann (spelling- forgive me) and their Daughter & Husband last night. Dinner and drinks were great the conversation was wonderful...but...after Richard went to every table in the place and showed pictures of his grand daughter we got thrown out...they let Kathy, Mary Ann & the kids stay...but Richard & I got thrown out.

One lady behind us had a wonderful grand-one sitting with them and she was offended that he told everyone that his grandone was the greatest and their's didn't count...but the real problem is that Richard made the baby cry when he told him that his grand daughter would never date him as he was so ugly...man what an embarrassment...and then everyone in the place got mad because this kid could scream. I was so embarrassed that I wouldn't even walk out with him. When I got outside the valet guys wouldn't even talk with us.

Then we went to a local liquor store...he bought some cheap wine...Acadama Red in a screw cap gallon bottle...and I got my Grey Goose...we sat outside and started singing the SOC Fight song...even though we ad-libbed the words. With the beautiful moon shinning off of old chrome dome's head we left the front entrance and sat on the grass until we passed out.

But all in all we represented our class with dignity...neither of us relieved ourselves on the lawn next to the entrance of the Fauxkneetion Resort where we were having dinner...we went over to a Mercedes in the marking lot and did it on the guys tires!!!

Great time had by all and would do it again in a heart beat. Love the traditions of all SOC graduates.

We all remember Sandra Gorman Trojacek.  The Gorman's owned the Singing Hills Riding Stables.  I read in the Dls Mrng News obit tda that Sandra's husband, Raymond, passed away.  My prayers to Sandra & her family.

We've talked about it before, but we all have such great memories of the Saturdays we spent riding our favorite horse at the stables.  To the best of my knowledge, Sandra's info is correct in our directory.

John - The Burgins moved before we did.  Margaret went our soph & maybe some of our jr yr before they moved.  Bec of the move she did not go to SOC her sr yr and none of them graduated from SOC.   I believe she had to go to DeSota her sr yr.

Rick located her for our 40th & we sent invite but she didn't attend.

SNL, did any of the Burgins graduate from SOC?

Ada, I too, went to Amazon and ordered the book. $17 or so (including shipping). A big discount from the book store price. All the reviewers on Amazon had nothing but high praise for the book. Looking forward to reading it.

Thanks for the tip abt Mr. Burgin's book John!  The dtrs in order are Margaret Ann, Vickie Lynn, Terrie Lee & Vanessa ? Burgin.  Every since Rick told us about the WW II series being aired on HBO & Mr. Burgin's character being one of the sub-plots, we keep finding out more & more about him.  I too will ck out the book as it'll make a great gift.  I wish we could have watched the series, but we don't get HBO.

I just ordered my copy of Mr. Burgin's book from Amazon.com.  I am getting it for my husband, Joe.  His uncle was killed on Okinawa....only 19 years old....buried in the Punch Bowl in Hawaii.  Joe was named after him.

Yesterday I was in here asking about Mr. R. V. Burgin. He also has a daughter named Terrie Lee Burgin who lives right here in The Woodlands.

To my surprise Mr. Burgin made an appearance in The Woodlands last Friday to do a book signing at the local Borders Book Store. Had I known in advance, I would have made it a point to go meet him. He also visited the Texas Marine Medal of Honor Monument here.

Burgin's visit made the front page of our local newspaper. Here is a link to part of that article:

His book has already sold 40,000 copies (not counting the one I will be purchasing).

Isn't it ironic that Franklin Gramham has been un-invited to the National Day of Prayer at the Pentagon?  Any thoughts?
We all need to pray for Franklin.  What's wrong with speaking the truth?  We'll probably all be under attach before we are called home.
Have a wonderful day!
