It's been just a little over 3 weeks since our dear friend Ada Ann passed away. Then 2 weeks later Buddy Capps son died in a car wreck. I won't lie, it's hard losing good friends. But somehow, we put on a good face and do our best to get thru those days when our hearts hurt and you just want to pull the covers over your head and cry.

Let's be happy for today and the great weather and sunshine coming here in the DFW area from Wed thru Sat. Yesterday & Sun were very warm, upper 70s & low 80s, but today some drizzle. Let's try to think Spring, flowers and sunshine and maybe it will lighten our load.

Ada Wingate Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peabody Funeral Home - Londonderry on Jan. 13, 2025.

Ada Ann Wingate, 76, a resident of Londonderry for 50 years, passed away unexpectedly on January 12th, 2025. Born in Dallas, Texas, on October 27, 1948, to Dan William Henrie and Billie Loretta Berkley, Ada was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
On December 19, 1970, Ada married the love of her life, Joseph Leon Wingate in Dallas, Texas. Together for 54 years they built a beautiful life and raised two sons, Joseph Leon Wingate, Jr. and Jonathan Robert Wingate.
Ada graduated from Cedar Crest Baptist College in 1970 and went on to teach in the Dallas, Texas school system as well as served as a substitute teacher in the Londonderry school district.
Ada's greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, always offering a warm smile, a kind word, and a listening ear. Her legacy of love and kindness continues through her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan Henrie and Billie Henrie, and her brother, Bill Henrie.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Leon Wingate, DDS; her sons, Joseph Wingate, Jr. and his wife Judea Franck of Fort Collins, CO, and Jonathan Wingate and his wife Beth Bisbing of Litchfield, NH; and her cherished grandchildren Sophia Wingate, Caleb Wingate, Blake Wingate, and Brooke Wingate. Extended members of her family include Charles E. Wingate, Jr., MD and his late wife, Vera; Robert M. Wingate and wife, Patricia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ada will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her deep love for her family, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever held in our hearts.
Following cremation, memorial calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Family and Friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to be made to an organization which supports cancer research and treatment such as the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.

Comments:
I've been asked several times about services/memorial for Ada Ann. Since Ada Ann & Joe made the decision some time ago to be cremated, I don't believe there will be any type of services or memorial here in Dallas. They have lived in NH, except for the first year or so, all their married life.  There would be no reason to fly back here as al their friends are in NH.

If that changes, I will definitely let you know.

It's with tears & heartbreak i must let you know our good friend Ada Ann passed away. She had the heart valve replacement on 10-31-24 and then spent 9 weeks at a rehab center. She came home Friday, 1-10-24 & had a heart attack Sunday 1-12-25 and passed away. Joe tried to save her with CPR but neither he nor the paramedics could save her. She will be cremated & Joe will let me know when a service will be held.

It's 10 am and the sun is shinning brightly here!  Unfortunately all that fluffy snow (about 4 inches) turned to solid ice overnight due to the low temps.  But with highs in the upper 40s and sun today it should melt quickly. Tomorrow and the rest of next week look great!

Ww got a little sleet early & then started snowing about 8:25am today.  We've had some really big & beautiful flakes falling.  Still snowing at 9:30am but temp is 37 here.  Supposed to get lots more snow late today & tonight. But, it's N. TX, will be in low 40s and all gone by Saturday!![smile]

I wish it were only snow! As of last night they're saying sleet and some ice starting early in the morning before sun rise and into mid-day.  Then, snow to follow. I've spent several hours getting all my stuff ready to cover my shrubs (the ones planted in March of 24) this afternoon before dark. Also 3 big pots outside.  Don't know if it will all work, but gave it my best shot. Snow Ok .  . Ice . . .NO!

Hope everyone will stay in and be safe for the next 2 days!

Right about now a fire in the fireplace tonight and a hot cup of coffee is sounding pretty good!  We're going to have  bout 5 days of really cold weather. Temps dropping as we go thru the day but the wind is gusting very strong. Bring your fur babies in and don't forget about your pipes.  Stay safe and stay warm!

With only a few days left in 2024 and we approach the new year, it brings back good memories of days gone by.  Hope everyone had a safe and good Christmas.

My wish for the new year is for no more crazy people shooting up our schools and killing kids and teachers. Also, for our politicians to start working together to take care of our nation and bring us peace and better conditions here in the USA.

Happy 37th anniversary of our 40th birthday to my twin SNL.  As you may remeber I quit having birthdays after my 40th.   Seriously, Happy Birthday to my twin.  I do not post very often =, but I do check the Guest Book regularly to keep up with what is going on.  Thanks again for all you do to keep us all in touch with each other.

Hold on there, Sandy. I have had it marked on my calendar the 22nd for years. NOW you tell me that is wrong? Oh well, one day one way or the other.  Like the man said, "it was a lot more fun being 20 in the 70's than it is being 70 in the 20's.

OK, hold on.  Let's not rush making me and Jerry a year older any sooner than absolutely necessary! It's tomorrow, the 23rd.  Can't believe I'm going to now be declared to be in my "late 70's"  [eek]  Say what???  Seems only a few years ago I wasn't even 50!

Thank you Jack for being a good friend and you've always been there when needed and I'm honored to still call both you & Jerry my ol' Lisbon Friends!  Happy B-day tomorrow, 23rd, to Jerry.  Hope it twill be a great one for you and you celebrate with your great family. We Lisbon people just keep getting better with age! [wink]

December 22. A very special day. It is the birthday of two very good people. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Sandra Norman Lynn, AKA SNL and my brother by a different Mother, Jerry Tillery. I have know these two (and a few others) since starting at Lisbon Elementary. Life has taken us many different places and different experiences through the years, but somehow not separated us. Something about our common childhood and upbringing has bound us and keeps us in touch. I have relied on Jerry throughout the years and he has always been there for me. I hope I have done the same for him. Sandy and I lost touch for a while but she has helped me since regaining our friendship. I value and treasure, not only these but many other, friendships. Today is SNL's and Jerry's day. Again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, may we celebrate many more together.
