Our thoughts and prayers are wit Susan.  Having any kind of replacement surgery is not fun - having it twice is even worse.

That's a rough story on Susan, I hope she does well.

Yep, fires are out for now.  Gonna be a long hot summer.

Well, it's not good news.  She had hip replacement surgery and then went back to a rehab facility.  There seemed to be a problem with one leg shorter than the other.  Finally took xrays earlier this week and the ball & joint aren't together!  The ball is kinda just floating separately!

I had been trying to reach her & LW so I called husband Jake and he gave me the bad news.  She will have the 2nd surgery this Monday, 6-21.  Please keep Susan in your prayers as she has been thru so much having to lie in bed in a rehab facility and wait more than 7 months to have surgery in the first place due to Covid and no beds.  Now she's having 2nd surgery.  She needs our prayers!

Richard posted on FB that the fire close to his home was out!  Now all that's left is smoldering embers and lots of smoke. Too close for comfort.

Hope everyone has found a cool place and staying out of this terrible heat.  Hopefully that rain forecast for us next week will happen and cool us down.

Richard - After seeing your videos on FB of the fire you can clearly see right outside your patio, I think you're going to need more than a pail of water!!  Please stay vigilant and be ready to leave if necessary.  Hopefully those helos got it out.

Richard - I shall send Jack & Jill up the hill to fetch a pail of water for you.  In return, send me a big pack of C batteries, enough to power my occilating fan for 8 hrs. Deal?

I read your comments regarding Rick(y) Mitchell (I always knew him as Ricky).  You're right about him being one of the good guys; he always has been, even in the "wilder" teen years.  Good guy and family going some some real tough stuff.

Regarding your electricity complaints....send us some water and we'll send over a few batteries.  Seems like a fair deal.  It's always somethin'.

Just think what it will be like when Amazon changes to all electric trucks and charges them over-night, plus all the other electrics. We will be singing, where has all the power gone, long time passing.

You're right Jack, they know all the problems yet fail to do anything to correct them.  Funny how the news last night kept implying it was the wind turbines fault because the wind wasn't blowing enough!  Really?!  As you said, they still haven't figured out you have to have constant wind and sun out there if they are going to generate power. Duh!

If our power goes out I may have to buy one of those small kiddie pools and put on my patio (shade) with water.

Wind's not blowing so the turbines are not producing. Solar does not work at night, so no help for the load. And more that "normal" plants off line for repair. I wonder if any new plants have been built since Comanche Peak. I somehow doubt there is any money in the new "infrastructure plan" for power plants!

Wow!  We go from 3 weeks of almost rain or drizzle everyday to sun and oppressive heat!  ERCOT keeps threatening us with possible power outages.  Really??  After mid February debacle they still can't get their act together.  Hope everyone keeps power and stay out of this extreme heat. Been 99 last few days but heat indexes well over 100+.  Dangerous!

Rick Mitchell called today.  He and Brenda are trying to come to terms with loosing their son On May 31.  It's not an easy thing to do, but he wanted everyone to know how grateful they were for the kind words and prayers from this group.

Oddly enough, somehow we got into talking about the Vietnam war and how awful it was and the friends and fellow soldiers he lost. It was an interesting stroll down some old and painful memories of the folks we've lost and miss.  Rick is definitely one of the "Good Guys".   Praying God will help heal their broken hearts.

It continues to rain off/on everyday.  It's so dark right now, another one coming!

Carol, that's so great you connected with an old friend from the SOC band.  It always makes me happy to reconnect with someone I knew from many years ago.  It's fun to remember some of the good ol' days when we were young and carefree.

Hi, everyone! What a beautiful Overland Park day!
I have a new SOC friend on Facebook - John Payne (Class of ‘67). John very recently joined Facebook and said via Messenger that he is happy to reconnect with old friends. John was a member of the Gold and White Band - and truly one of the nicest guys at SOC (high praise considering that we had “oodles and oodles” of nice guys at SOC - 😍). If you want to send a friend request, search for “John Payne - South Oak Cliff” in Facebook - or just click on John’s picture on my Facebook page.
Love to all! Keep staying healthy! ❤️
(Who will be the next SOC friend to appear on Facebook? Don? Mario? Paul? 😊)
