Place: H-Town Comments: Dear Karen and Jana, God bless your sweet Mother in heaven, and my heart goes out to you both in your loss.
Place: Packer Land USA Comments: JADA I don't wish this storm on anyone...really bad...I have a 14-18 foot drift on my deck that has blocked 4 windows upstairs...it is the worst I have seen since we moved back in '71. Hope it is out of steam when it gets to you.
Place: NH Comments: Mr. Pecker.....SORRY......I meant Packer.....we get it after you. I don't want anymore snow. So, just use it up or put it in your big lake. Do you get my drift?
Place: Packer Land USA Comments: Shortcake...I'll trade your weather (except the ice) any day. Got up at 4 this morning to clean the entrance to the driveway. The plows went by at 3 and placed a swath of snow 8 ft wide and at least 6 feet tall. Took me 2 1/2 hours to clear it...and that's with a 28 inch wide Airen's BIG BOY snow blower...had to drive Kathy to work as the roads had not been completely cleaned. She couldn't get to work yesterday and drove me nuts...I haven't been to work since Tuesday because the Interstate was shut down. We only got 26.8 inches but the wind was blowing 30-40 MPH with gusts at 55 - 60. So, I am having a SB Party on Sunday...everyone is invited...those that come receive a free meal, a chance at $500.00 cash, free drinks...(money in penny's)...and the warm friendship of myself with a brand new snow shovel to boot. More snow to start tomorrow.
Place: Garland Comments: Karen and Jana - so sorry to hear about your Mom...will keep you guys in our prayers. Toni - have you been drinking and forgot your last name? I hate this weather - just in case you were wondering - don't mind the snow but hate the ice. Ready for it to clear off. JD - you can have this stuff back!!!!! I will even promise not to use your credit card.....welllll maybe not as much!!! ![]()
Place: Garland Comments: Our 15 minute rolling power outage only lasted 35 minutes so I cannot complain. I'm beginning to get cabin fever. Talked to my son this evening and learned that he had to make a trip to the grocery store today and, when he stepped out of his SUV, he slipped, fell and hurt his neck. I have an idea he's headed to see his doctor tomorrow. Karen and Jana,so sorry to hear about your mother's passing. I have such fond memories of her from Trinity Presbyterian. You all will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Place: Texas Comments: Karen, Jana, & Family -- So sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. Happy belated birthday to Rick Watts -- hope that you had a wonderful and WARM day. Happy anniversary to Jerry & Joyce, and many more.
Place: Garland Comments: Our 15 minute blackout lasted 2 hours . The good thing about the RV is that we have a backup generator and got it going immediately so we were not cold and I had coffee!!!! Course my Dr.'s office called and said that it probably would not do any good for me to come in because they could not use any of their machines. These teams are used to this cold weather - they could have left it at home. Don't mind snow but hate the ice! ![]()
Place: Buuuurrrr in the Cold R Comments: This is awful. Apparently TX can't handle the add'l power needed for people to keerp warm & ALL of TX is experiencing rolling blackouts!! Our first was at 6:50am & it was off 15 min. Then at 8:20am it was offf abt 8 min. Oncor says it's happening thru out the entire state at the request of ERCOT! Geeez!
Place: Denton section of frozen tundra Comments: Karen, so sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers will be with you and your family. Hello to all fellow snow/ice bunnies or hibernating "bears". This is JUST NOT RIGHT!! Anyone want to head way south? All take care and watch your steps!
Place: Packer Laand USA Comments: Snow, snow, snow and more snow...this is not good for us but your temp at 10 pm was 15...we were 20...WT(...)...well U know.
Place: Cold & Icy Comments: I just finished all my Month-End rpts & taking a breather. JD, you hit the nail on the head! That's exactly what 2 Packer fans said as they were being interviewed at lunch tda!! Also some Steeler fans sd it feels like Spring to them!!! I think the 2 teams brought this mess with them just to get even with the 'Boys! Yes the Pack are going to practice at Highland Park H.S. indoor facility after they get thru w/Media Day at Cowboys Stadium tda. We have 18 wheelers jack-knifed all over the Frwys & big over passes!! But we also have lots of sand trucks running around everywhere! Hopefully tmo will be a little better & it will be off the major roads by Thur. At least Sat & Sun are forecasted to have some sun & low 40 & 50 temps. Too bad the SB wasn't last wkend... we had nothing but sun & temps reaching upper 70s!!!
Place: PACKER LAND Comments: SNL...thanks for the weather...believe me when I say...they probably think it is mid-summer. Now that the weather is so bad for that part of the country my beloved Packers have to practice at the indoor facility at Highland Park H.S. SMU doesn't have an indoor facility and that was to be their practice field. Now, please understand the following joke is one reason there is no love lost between Packer and Bear fans... JOKE: Two boys are playing hockey on a pond in a Chicago park when one of the boys is suddenly attacked by a crazed Rottweiler. Thinking quickly, the other boy takes his hockey stick, shoves it under the dog's collar, twists it and breaks the dog's neck, saving his friend.
A reporter is standing by, sees the incident, and rushes
"But I'm not a Cub Fan", the little boy replies.
But I'm not a Sox Fan either," the little boy replies.
"I'm not a Bears Fan either," says the boy. "Oh... I assumed everyone in Chicago was . . . What team do you root for?" the reporter asked. "I'm a Packers fan," the boy replies.
The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes... "Little Bastard from Wisconsin Kills Beloved Family Pet"
Place: Packer Land Comments: Karen & Jana, am so sorry to hear about your Mom...life is never easy, but losing a parent is one of the toughest things we have do endure...May God Bless her.
