Place: 66erville Comments: Happy Birthday to Carol, a real Sweetheart!!! Hope to see you soon. Drop us a line when you have the time and opportunity. Is it true that Bovie was in Alaska, trying to teach outdoor tennis to the natives??
Place: Richardson Comments: Carol, sure hope you're checking in once in a while, as none of us have heard from you in along time! Carol - Happy Birthday yesterday!!! BTW, the next mini is this Saturday, 4-16 & our 45th Reunion is 9-30 & 10-1. Hope everyone has made plans & I'll see you at 2:00 at the Double Tree in Richardson!!!
Place: LV, TX Comments: H a p p y B i r t h d a y wishes go out to Carol Carpenter for 4/10! Carol – We haven’t heard from you lately, but hope you had a great one on the 10th. Best wishes for many more & that we’ll see you for our next mini in June or the big one in Sep!
Place: windy McKinney Comments: Coasty Don L. and Ms. Shortcake, I had the series of shots twice, and a scope once. Eventually the bone on bone won out. I had total replacement in both knees in the last year. I assume I will hit the golf ball a mile now, and can "Gator" like the old days. Anyone remember rum and coke and Louanne's on Greenville? That has to bring a smile to your face.
Place: Richardson Comments: Tommy Barr had the quadruple bypass surgery 4-1 & I believe he came home 4-6. But then Fri he was having a separate problem in that he couldn't eat! I have NOT heard from his x-wife, but based on a note I read from Betty Gibbs, she sd as of Fri night he was little better. Have not put him bk in hospital yet. That's all I know.
Place: DS Comments: Shortcake, I too thought you were having a knee replacement. Heck, you didn't even give me time to get my package together I was sending. On Facebook there have been several post requesting "urgent" prayer for Tommy. SNL, know anything?
Place: Sachse Comments: Shortcake, sorry you may have to have a do-over but sometimes it takes getting in there to truly know what you are dealing with. My dad has the same condition (torn meniscus and knee arthritis) but at 93, he isn't a candidate for surgery. He tried the Synvisc too and had no relief whatsoever. We just returned from a funeral at Laurel Land. My children's dad (my former husband) passed away after a long battle with cancer. He is definitely in a far greater place now.
Place: Cypress Springs Comments: Thanks Don - he tried the injection before he went in this time and, unfortunately it did not work. I am hoping to get some relief from the surgery yesterday. Just have to wait and find out. He wants to give it a little time before we jump back in and do anything else. The MRI did not bone on bone but when he went in and got it cleaned up he could see it.
Place: LV, TX Comments: Shortcake - Glad to see you're on the g/b & out of surgery OK, for now. Prognosis doesn't seem very encouraging, so you may have to go back if no relief this time. In the meanwhile, maybe JD will take a mercy flight down & help Bobby with the housework. I had my right knee 'scoped' for torn meniscus (cartilage) in '95 before retiring from the CG - it's still doing pretty well, but not 100%. My left knee has been making a crackling noise for a while, but doesn't hurt yet, so I'll remain in denial for now. ![]() I've heard of a somewhat new injection treatment for bad knees when the usual pain relieving injections, meds & scoping no longer work, and may help avoid replacement surgery for a while, at least. If you haven't done so, might ask your doc about this & get a few other opinions: http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/treatment/a/synvisc.htm I've also heard it's pretty expensive & I'm not sure if HMOs have generally accepted this as an acceptable alternative or still consider it experimental (not covered, non-reimbursable).
Place: FW Comments: Karen, I thought you were having knee replacement this time. My mistake! Sorry you might have to go through another surgery. You sound like you're feeling pretty well in spite of the pain.
Place: Richardson Comments: Karen, I'm sorry to hear you had a long recovery from the anesthesia. Sometimes its the worst part! Sounds like you're gng to be in the same boat as Pool Guy - knee replacement!! I've often wondered if our body parts have an expiration date. You know, like some vehicles are 30K miles or 3 yrs, whichever comes first. ![]() You take care Shortcake & I hope this surgery at least helps you a little bit!
Place: Cypress Springs Comments: So - I had coffee ready this morning at 10 but you guys did not show up! Had to invite the neighbors in. I did get through the surgery ok but had to stay at the hospital until around 5 because i could not keep anything down. It is pretty sore today but the drugs help! Bobby fixed dinner last night but I could not eat much. One of the neighbors is bringing us blt's for lunch. The prognosis was not good - He fixed the meniscus and scraped out the arthiritis. But after he got all of that out said it just masked the problem and that I would probably have to have a joint replacement. We are going to let the knee heal and see what happens.
Place: Homebound Comments: You might know that I would leave my phone for just a few minutes and Bobby called saying that Karen came through the surgery just fine and as soon as she was no longer nauseated, he would be taking her home. If anyone has heard anything else, please let me know. Thanks!
Place: golf range Comments: Coach McGee, I am eagerly wait for my next lesson so you can tell me how to fix the holes in my swing. It has taken you long enough to get around to it. Then can we work on my "short" game?
Place: Richardson Comments: Yeah McMakin, Don gassed the van up last night. Plenty of room! we'll be on the road by 6 & shd be at Shortcakes doorstep by 9:00. BTW - I like French Vanilla creamer in my coffee!! |
