Place: LV, TX Comments: Shortcake - The week may be nearly over, but you remain in our prayers to continue recovering from knee surgery & getting clean lab reports. Brother Doug was at VA San Antonio today - 1 yr since stem cell therapy for cancer. He had follow-up lab work & scans, as well as childhood shots & vaccinations again. Intensive chemo during therapy wiped out his immune system.
Place: LV, TX Comments: No further info on the mother & 2 young daughters yet. But, we've been told they lived in the small town of Smithville, Monroe Cty, MS. The tornado was believed to be an F-4 with winds of 190mph. http://www.examiner.com/weather-in-jackson/major-tornado-damage-town-of-smithville-ms-picture http://www.myfoxmemphis.com/dpp/news/mississippi/ms-town-flattened-by-tornado,-13-confirmed-dead-mfo-20110428
Place: DeSoto Comments: Well Shorty, I am certainly glad you are OK and will add you to my list. No wonder I had been thinking of you! So sorry for your loss. My niece Jana, has her second round of chemo tomorrow, my sisters only child. This has actually been a crummy month, but I guess we have to have these in order to recognize the good. We are all so incredibly blessed but just don't know it.
Place: Cypress Springs Comments: Ok so this week is over and is has been horrible so I will tell you now - went to my oncologist a few weeks ago and one of my tests did not come out the waywe expected so I had to go back yesterday and have another test run. Fortunately she did not find anything so did not do any biopsies but I am back on my every six month check up now. She is thinking maybe the steriods I got for my knees triggered a adverse reaction on my tests. Soooo if that was not nerve racking enough my cousin passed away on Monday...her funeral was held today...she was a very special person....last few years she was confined to a bed....before that put herself through college, part-time she was a EMT ..anyway I will miss her. So I am really going to miss her....REALLY glad this week is over.
Place: DeSoto Comments: Prayers go out to everyone that has been effected by this horrific weather. Certainly puts life in perspective, or should, for all of us. John, I never realized how much you favored Tom.
Place: LV, TX Comments: We rcvd some sad news this evening regarding our extended family on Kathy's side. Her niece & family lived nearby us til a coupla months ago. Then, they moved to Columbus, MS, where her husband had found a better job, plus, they have other family members in the area. One of the niece's female cousins & 2 young daughters were evidently caught in the path of a tornado last night and were missing this morning. This evening, we rcvd a text stating all 3 were discovered along a railroad track, miles away - mother dead, both daughters in critical condition - 1 with a broken neck & the other impaled by a piece of lumber. I hardly knew these people - met them briefly while attending a family funeral in LA 2 yrs ago. But, I'm heart-sick at these losses, as I have been for most of the day, watching news footage of other victims & neighborhoods in AL. Please say a few special prayers for all these folks - they sure need us - thanks.
