I was surprised and pleased to see a feature on the Channel 8 news last night and this morning about our SOC teachers.  Thought you might enjoy taking a look at the clip as well:  http://www.wfaa.com/news/education/Retiring-Dallas-teachers-share--122846509.html

I can only speak for myself but I rather enjoy Dale's quick wit.  I can say that as I don't have to worry about the fall-out from my ring-side seat..LOL!

Dale, I think you are putting too much in Don's comment. Please don't stop (even if you could). All funnies need to keep being cycled and personalized. A laugh is a laugh and remembering "old" jokes often bring back other memories. So keep it up. Don't worry about Sandy not understanding you. She never has understood guys and guy stuff. But it is OK, she's happy just as she is.

Dale - I never understood you in HS, much less now!   But ... if you watch your step, Yuvonne may let you live to see another day

Happy Memorial Day to all our vets.  Rudy & I went to the memorial service in Duncanville this morning; was a moving ceremony.  We drove out to the National Cemetery but could see that it was going to be a MAJOR event, so we turned around and went home.  If anyone hasn't seen the campus of Dallas Baptist U. lately; go look, it's beautiful and the new chapel is awesome to see.

I didn't work in the yard today, but did clean out gutters in the back.  YUCK!  I need gutter helmet.  Never thought I'd live in the same house so long that the trees and shrubs are so tall that they shed into the gutters.

Congrats to Sandy McGee on the birth of a granddaughter.  How exciting for your family.

Today, we welcome aboard our 1st and only SOC '66 female vet, Fay Pool, SFC, U. S. Army (Ret).  Fay, many thanks for contacting Sandy (SNL) and submitting your vet info - it’s a pleasure to add you to our roster.

As a reminder, if anyone knows of other vet classmates who may not be included, please contact me.

BTW – Click on USvetTV at noon today (now!) to watch streaming telecast of Special Memorial Day Observance at The Wall in Washington DC.

OK, Don.  You are right. occasionally I take an old story and make it applicable to current events in an effort to make it more interesting. Sorry if that offends you. It won't happen again.

Dale - That was a good one back when you e-mailed it to some of us w/o your names, and it's still a good one now.  Next time, just try cold long necks & make sure she has some, too - but not with a wine chaser, or you'll never get around to saying - or doing - anything!

Speaking of yesterday, Yuvonne and I were sitting on the front porch at sunset sharing a romantic evening and a bottle of reserved 2004 Folie 'A Deux, a very dry little Cabernet Sauvignon and just as the sun dropped below the horizon I said "I love you."
Yuvonne turned and looked at me and said "Is that the wine talking?"
I said " Nope, that was me talking TO the wine."

Rest of the evening weren't so dad gummed romantic.

SNL,
I am confused. Yesterday you said that tomorrow is another day and I only read that today so is today another day or will we have to wait another day for it to be another day tomorrow?

KMD - 13 trees with #14 on the way!!!  He's making a forest!  Don laid all the stone around the beds, he too has to have every one precisely level & in line. I plant all the flowers.  I'm the one with the flower addiction.  But sometimes I buy more than I can plant, or have space to plant!    I bet your backyard is look great!   He's quiet the landscaper!!

Congrats Pool Guy on finally getting that soon-to-be-spoiled G-dtr!!  Do send pics when you get a chance.

Now I'm headed to the shower & then to fix supper.  Don is almost thru laying that last pallet of grass.  He's whopped!  Tomorrow is another day . . .

KMD - I'm now beginning to understand why Mike 'picked up a year' when considering your anniversary - was it 2, 3, or more?  He apparently added an extra for the one spent out in the yard.

Some of us just want to be creative & helpful when turning a house into a home - big difference.

Pool Grandpa - Major congrats on the arrival of another young'n to your family!   KMD said it best - she'll become a high maintenance babe starting now.  You might as well forget about planning to retire anytime soon - so, keep diggin.

I don't blame you for warning all those outlaws in advance.  Just to show how much I care, I'll ask some roudy Coasty buds to stand watch on your porch & outside her bedroom.  They're especially ready for any kind of action after 30 days or so out at sea - trust me.

Happy birthday to Ann DH and a major congrats to Sandy McGee on the birth of his (destined to be utterly spoiled) granddaughter, Madeleine Kate.  Send pics to Pride and Joy asap.

SNL, I feel your pain (or at least Mike does). We have added 13 trees in the back yard alone in the last year or so and a 14th tree is being delivered and planted next week. Mike is methodically building large stone circles around each of them. Luckily, Mike's extreme obsessive compulsive behavior prevents him from allowing me to help with this task as every stone must be precise and level (I think he configures everything including the earth's axis to determine this). You can imagine my disappointment at not being able to assist. (wink, wink). I do, however, spend a great deal of time watering all the pots and hanging plants that Mike continues to bring home every time he goes to the store. I may have to have an intervention for him and his plant addiction.

I have 34 returned invites so far.  But thanks to our adopted son, John Southworth, and his wonderful help, he & I have found more than half of them & I've mailed a new invite.  JS is a great detective!

Don & I are doing a major renovation to our front yard.  Landscape rock, new flowerbeds, floweres for the new beds, laying several palets of St Augistine grass etc.  Geez this is hard work!!  Will be out in yard rest of weekend, so, to all the past and current Military Veterans -  Thank You for your service!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY ON MONDAY!!!  FLY THE FLAG!
