Place: LV, TX Comments: I’ve mentioned this to some of our folks already, but it’s probably time we alerted all our g/b viewers about e-mail attacks that are becoming more frequent.
Besides David Mitchell, Susan Sunde, Bill Byrum & Buddy Capps, plus some of my other family & friends, had their e-mail addresses “spoofed” & contacts raided recently.
I've noticed the subject lines on these bogus e-mails often contain that person's e-mail address, something out of the ordinary, like a number, or it's blank. The links within the text direct viewers to websites for online purchases of vitamins, sexual enhancement supplements, bedroom ‘toys’, etc. (Easy, Jack!)
Besides having decent anti-virus software, it might help if we all get into the habit of clipping off multiple addresses of forwarded e-mails & using the ‘Bcc’ line when we send to large groups of addressees.
This will not rid us of these attacks completely, but should help cut down on the frequency.
Place: LV, TX Comments: Always hate to hear any news of another classmate passing. I knew Raymond, but didn't run around with him. He used to stop by Dobb's (formerly Nicks) drive-in grocery store where I worked, corner of Overton Rd. & Ramona Ave., and have a coke & a smoke while we BS'd a bit. Prayers go out to him & his family. BTW - David Mitchell used to work across the street from Dobb's at V-Macs drive-in grocery. It kept us in smokes, cokes & gas at the time.
Place: Sachse Comments: I didn't know Raymond very well but it is always sad to lose one of our classmates. God bless him and his family.
Place: southlake Comments: My email contact list has been hacked. If you receive an email from me that doesn't look like something I would send delete it.
Place: Allen, TX Comments: Sorry to hear this. Raymond was a nice guy at SOC.
Place: Richardson Comments: Sorry to have to post this, but we've lost another classmate. Raymond (Skipper) Cothran Jr. passed away right after our last reunion. His widow was kind enough to return the form & let us know. He died suddenly of a heart attack on 10-9-06!
Place: Sachse Comments: Thanks SNL for the sweet comments on the grandones. Like you, I have a long wait for the youngest grandone to graduate as he is not quite 2 years old yet. Sandy Mc playing golf? Girl you need to sign up for the BMF Tournament in September. It's a great cause and we need more women to participate.
Place: current events today Comments: Sandy Mc, I hope you have a great time with the SOC boys today at TR golf course. Keep it clean and don't tell any dirty jokes to my boys virgin ears.
Place: It Can Happen To Anyone! Comments: Buddy, tell Georgene not to get too upset over it. We know she didn't do it & had no control over it. The only reason I called was to give you a heads up on what had happened. The PC repair people are getting lots of business due to all the hacking going on!! FYI - Ya'll take a look at the P&J pg as we have a new photo!! Karen, I think both Kira & Allie look a lot like you... both are very beautiful!
Place: Marsalis gang Comments: Sandy, about four years ago we shared the same email address. Her lap top is from the Irving ISD. The Irving ISD has been hacked releasing all employees info. Tonite I plan on cleaning out all my friends email addresses from her email address. She is very upset about this.
Place: Richardson Comments: Buddy, I knew immediately it wasn't Georgene sending me that msg . . . it was very poor grammar!!  Also the URL looked very suspicious!I'm pretty cautious & I never click on an attached or embedded link in an Em without studying WHO sent it & did they send an acceptable msg to me & did they SIGN it. This happened to Susan Sunde a few weeks ago & she had to end up deleted her old Em & getting new one to stop it. I only got 1 Em from Georgene. Sometimes hackers get into our computers from a virus that lays dormant for months & then activates & allows then to get access, usually to our Em. Hang in there!
Place: Marsalis Gang Comments: FYI, GEORGENE CAPPS (my wife) on her email had a bogus email sent from her email address. So sorry about that. We ran a virus scan on her lap top and found no virus. I don't really understand this, but a heads up. thanks SNL
Place: 66 Wisconsin Comments: Received my packet...am pleased I have been included. With my gift barrage last time...thought I might be over looked. But will advise...I have new gifts...and will bring them and share at the appropriate time. Hope all is well.

Place: Richardson Comments: FYI - Someone seems to have gotten into some of our em addresses. On Sat I got an odd em from David M, but it was the link address that made me pause & not open it. Haven't heard from David yet to verify if legit or not. But, I got one from Goergene Capps few minutes ago & I know it's not from her. Very poor English & another odd URL. When in doubt, don't open!!! |
