Shortcake - I have a practically new walker - used for about an hour to help me get home from the hospital after back surgery & it's been in a closet ever since.

All the times I've watched & helped family & other seniors who had to use a walker - here I was doing the same.  It almost felt like I was being prep'd for a nursing home.  You or anyone else is welcome to have it.

Maybe some of you with good business sense (JD, Sam, Ladies?) would consider opening an online business to sell all sorts of medical & theraputic devices to our 'boomer' crowd.  Based on the many comments we exchange about injuries, surgeries, aches & other pains, seems like it would be a helluva market.  You could be our sole source for these products, in exchange for a special SOC discount, of course.

Karen, I was cleaning out one of my closets today and found two fairly new crutches and a cane.  Thinking of you and your up coming surgery, I was going to post that you are welcome to them, then the more I thought about....well, they are adult crutches. One size doesn't always fix all   I'm keeping the cane....you could hurt Cubby pretty bad with it.

Linda, late fall, Sept & Oct are the best for seeing the leaves turning. Our firs and pines stay green but the vine maple growing in the clear cuts start turning after the first freeze. Some of the areas look like they are on fire when the leaves turn red so it can be a very dramatic sight with the cuts being between the green forests. The best viewing area is along the Willamette Valley, Eugene is on the lower end and it extends north to the Salem area, I-5 runs n/s along the valley. With mountains on both sides of the valley is can be quite a sight.

It was so great watching the "old guys" (Mavs) turn off the "Heat" last night. I hope Lebron and company (and most of the game announcers) are enjoying eating their words today.  It was sweeeeet!!!

SNL, enjoy your grandones this week. Take extra vitamins and maybe some "vitametavegemin" to get you through.

Sorry...it is spelled Lebron...why didn't your mother name you Tom or Jack or anything that resembles a real name?

Congrats to all Dallas Maverick fans...this was sweet beating the team that Mr. LaBron James claimed would win 8 NBA Championships...well I say you have to win the 1st one before the other seven. Good night Mr. James.

JS - I wish they made a June Carter-Cash vitamin also - never saw her get that cranked-up.  This reminded me of my old accordion up in the attic.  Some of you from Oliver may remember me hauling that thing to school for the talent show.

Watching that clip also reminded me of sitting on the floor around the adults on Sat. evenings at Grandma Lincoln's in Old Oak Cliff.  While they watched those old programs, she'd put her beer on the floor under her chair, so Doug & I could take sips.

On some occasions, she'd take us to Ed McLemore's Sportatorium for the 'wraslin' matches or the Big D Jamboree.  She left us with many great memories.

For no particular reason I got to thinkin' about June Carter Cash today and what a pretty gal she was back in the day. I found the following old video of her and was surprised to see she was such a comedienne. Her square dance just cracks me up ...

Happy belated birthday to Jim Young.  Stay cool!  And happy anniversary to Larry Simons and Ramona.  41 is a magic number.

Rod - The pictures on utube are beautiful.  Oregon is a place I haven't visited, but want to.  What time in the fall is the best to see the leaves turn? And what area of the state to see them?
