Sarah and all the family and friends are in our prayers. We wish Gordy get well wishes, also. He is a friend to many of us. See you all at the May 21 Mini. Janice

Place: Sammy Smith Comments: It is with the saddest heart I have to let you know our good friend Sammy R. Smith has passed away. He's been sick the last few weeks and he passed around 2 to 3am this morning. Please keep Sarah, his loving wife, in your prayers. This is terrible news to all of us and I am devastated. Will let you know as arrangements are made.
Place: Richardson Comments: Most all of us know Gordy . . . the BBQ & Salsa King. He said it was alright to post an update on his condition. A little over 2 yrs ago he had his right knee replaced. He wasn't worried because same Dr had done his left knee a year before that and it went smoothly. Quick recovery & he was back on the BBQ road again. This one didn't go well from the start. Dr left a nerve in his leg touching the bone & he woke up to excruciating pain. Next day surgery to fix it. He wasn't doing that well and another surgery to fix another problem. Then he developed "drop foot". It got worse. He couldn't drive. Finally had his car retrofitted for hand controls because he's a hard man to stop. But his foot got worse and never got better. Finally, after consulting with more doctors and one was a vein specialist it was determined blood wasn't getting down to his foot and it was serious. Last week on 4-14 he had a major surgery to seal off the bad vein and reroute the blood flow to a good vein in hopes to get blood flow down to his foot. This week on 4-20 he was moved to a rehab center. He has an incision from his ankle all the way up! 122 staples! He is determined he's getting out soon and said today he will be at our Mini. I told him he has 4 weeks so quit rushing it. If anyone wants to call or send a card, I think he'd really appreciate it. He asked me today how long we've know each other and it was since I was 5 when we moved to Oak Cliff 3 doors up from him. Guess that makes it 69 years. I would think he will be there for at least a week. A few prayers would be nice. Thank you! Villages of Lake Highland, 8615 Lullwhater Dr., Dallas 75238. His cell is 469-314-0500
Place: Richardson Comments: Me too Donnie & Barb! When the pics from the 4-13-19 Mini popped up on FB it brought back some very good and some sad memories. I took a good pic of Ronney & Connie and she's no longer with us. Everyone, see your friends when you can . . . you may not get a 2nd chance. Don't forget, next Mini is May 21st.
Place: Garland Comments: looking forward to seeing everyone.
Place: Richardson Comments: Karen & Jimmie - hate to hear you can't make the Mini but certainly understand why. It's hard to believe we all have G-kids graduating H. S. and headed to college. If y'all should get a couple of hours to break away and stop by for a brief hello . . . would love to see you. Enjoy the wonderful graduation!
Place: Bosque County TX Comments: Just realized we have a conflict with the May 21st date and I'm sorry we won't make it. Our daughter has let me know that they are having a party on that date for our twins (turning 19) and graduating from High School. Needless to say, we are so sorry to miss. And just a little info on college choices - Adrien will be attending TAMU Galveston and Max is staying in Collin County to go to community college for the first year. I cannot believe my babies are old enough to go to college!! We will be in the Dallas area all that weekend as graduation is on the 23rd. Again, so sorry, if anything changes - we will let you know. |
