Don, so sorry to hear about the turn of events for Doug.  We will most definitely keep Doug, his family and you in our thoughts and prayers as we keep the positive "chain" going for all of those who are near and dear to us who are suffering.

Don, I am so sorry to hear that Doug has had the cancer reappear.  I know this must be so difficult for him & his family as well as you.  Definite prayers for some improvement & positive news next Thursday.  Think & pray POSITIVE, Positive, positive positive . . .

Hello folks - I've been somewhat out of touch & must apologize for that.  However, recent events urge that I call on the 'prayer bears' once again for my brother, Doug (SOC '68).

He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in ’07, and in ‘08, also Mantle Cell Lymphoma in his intestines.  He received numerous treatments, including stem cell replacement therapy, and was given the ‘all clear’ in  late ’10.

He returned to work only last Jan., coincidently at the V. A. IT Center in Austin where I work.  During his 3rd semi-annual check-up just before the holidays, Mantle Cell was discovered in his intestines again.  So, he resumed weekly chemo treatments at the VA Medical Center in Temple during Dec. & Jan.

He was given 1 of the original drugs used, plus 2 newer ones not previously available at the time of his stem cell treatment.  After a brief resting period, he returned to the VA hospital only yesterday for lab work & scans to determine signs of progress.

He’ll return to his oncologist on Feb. 16th to learn the results.  If the news is positive, he'll continue to receive these treatments until 'all clear' again, so he can return to work & other normal activities.  If not, his chances for improvement may be very limited, if at all.

So, in order to not dwell on the negative outcome, we’re obviously praying very hard for positive results.  Please add Doug to your prayer lists, along with Ada, Sam, Dane, Karen “Shortcake”, and any others I didn't mention or may not be aware of.

I don’t recall that we’ve lost anyone to the ‘Big C’ & can’t help but believe the power of our bears deserves a lot of credit for that - thank you!

Sammy - What a good report you got!!!    Thanks for the good news!!

Ada Ann & others are still in my prayers.  Ada Ann, you're a tough, outspoken & onery girl (hence the Crazy Lady name) and I know you are going to win this battle.  Big C picked the wrong girl to mess with!   Hopefully the CO trip will be resceduled soon . . .  Grandones are great medicine!

I am really behind on the GB. Was so sad to hear of Mike Lloyd's passing. I remember him as a really nice guy and never knew he played the drums. Thanks Richard for sharing that info about him. I guess I didn't realize he had been married to Brenda Rhodes, who was my neighbor on Utah for many years.

Ada, we will keep you in prayer and hope that you get to make your trip to see the grandones real soon. Love and blessings to you.

JD, the photos of your grandones are really special. Thank you for sharing them.

Don and Barb, please save 2 tickets to the BMF dinner at Primo's for Mike and I. Mmmmm...fajitas!

Ron it was an unusual game the last 3 min or so!  But it all came down to "time management".  Both coaches are great strategist & they tried to out wit the other.  NY didn't want Pats to get ball back with more time than absolutely necessary bec Brady wd march them down the field & get a touchdown.  He's done it too many times!  N was trying to eat up the clock by not getting the touchdown too quickly & eating up more time.  The Pats decided to "give it to them" so they cd then get the ball bk sooner.

It was a great game & it came down to the last play & a Hail Mary, but his time it didn't work for Brady.  But both coaches were very good . . . I wonder if one of them wd consider coming to Dallas!!??

Saw a story where the NFL is considering doing away with the "Pro Bowl" since it has become such a farce. I, for one, won't miss it. I tried to watch the last one, but got disgusted at the lack of effort. I know nobody wants to get hurt and they are just having fun, but why even play it if everybody just half plays? Between the stupid rules and lack of player interest in winning it is just boring.

Ada, sorry for your set-back. You are in our thoughts and prayers. I'm sure you'll be up kicking and flying soon!

I was a decent Super Bowl.  However, there was the most pathetic touchdown I've ever seen.  The line opens up, the running back takes the ball, races (unopposed) to the goal line, stops, then...falls over the line. ????  No, I really didn't mean to do that.
