Place: Waxahachie Comments: Hey, guys, an old man here jumping over on your site to tell you about an experience I had yesterday that involved your class. I am having all my VHS tapes converted to DVD at a shop here in town and spotted a SOC 66 football DVD on the counter. My buddy who runs the shop said it was being copied for a customer named Hudspeth who I am sure is a distinguished member of your fine class. Just in passing. And oh Sandy, leaving in fifteen days for spring training. Hope to see you there. Take care and thanks for letting me drop in. Steve

Place: Richardson Comments: Got bk frm hospital little bit ago. After 5 traumatic days all the machines are now running on a smooth & steady rhythm with no alarms gng off. We pray this is the beginning of some type of recovery. Thank you for your prayers, as doctor says next 7 days are critical as to whether she makes it or not. Sammy - Got your contribution ck in the mail tda. Thank You! ![]()
Place: Sachse Comments: Sandy, you know you have my prayers too for Diane, Stephanie and all the family. Sad news about Bob Burns as well. But I know he is in a place of love and comfort now.
Place: Richardson Comments: Thank you Karen & Susan. We know she's gtng good care, but she is so critical & things are not gng well. After her massive heart attack in the early hrs of Sat mrng, her heart has stopped every day since! 4 days in a row! With each day new problems. Thank you for your concern & prayers, Stephanie & especially her mom need all they can get. We're headed bk up there shortly to see that Bill & Stephanie get lunch.
Place: Bosque County, TX Comments: Sandy please know your family will be in our prayers. That is a great hospital she is in and I know they will take good care of her. We stopped by Monday to see Mike Murray and he is making such good progress. My neices' father-in-law was also in the Heart Hospital over the Christmas holidays and he is doing wonderfully!!
Place: FW Comments: Sandy, I will keep Diane and Stephanie and the entire family on my prayer list. Don, I'll also keep Doug and your family on it, too.
Place: Richardson Comments: Just realized, today is Valentine's Day. Hope you all enjoy time with your sweeties. Today is 27 yrs for Don & I. Where has the time gone! Happy Valentime's Day ! ! !
Place: Richardson Comments: Haven't bn on site since Fri. It's bn a sad wkend & continues now. Early Fri our dtr, Stephanie, cld from her home in Austin & her mom was in Baylor Heart Hospital. She was having chest pains early Thurs & when arrived at hospital they put in 3 stints. 1 artery totally blocked & 2 more partially blocked. She was dng good Thurs evening & walking. Fri Stephanie got her MIL to come stay with kids while she drove up here. Things were good Fri & mom was gng to go home Sat. But abt 4:30am Sat her heart stopped! Several min B4 got it started. Stephanie called crying & beside herself so we threw our clothes on & went to the hospital. She & her step-dad were by themselves & in shock! Spent day & part of night at hospital & came back agn Sun. Things are bad. Her mom is very very critical & her heart is severely damaged! Her heart stopped agn on Sun so they put an external pacemaker on her. Agn Mon her heart stopped & late Mon they did another surgery & ran a line to put a pump in her heart. Stephanie hasn't left the hospital & her step-dad Bill only goes home to feed the dogs. I was out several hrs yesterday buying Stephanie some clothes clothes as she only brought one change thinking she'd be her a day & a half. In case you are wondering . . . Yes, Stephanie is my step-dtr & it's her real mom & Don's x who is so ill. But when you have children there is always a tie & you do what is best for your child. Bill, the step-dad, is a great guy & right now our hearts are breaking for Stephanie & Bill as they are still trying to process all this. They've bn told to take it one-day-at -a-time & she will have to have some type of heart "assist" because her's is too damaged. Was told this mrng she may be in hospital another 4 to 8 wks, then moved to a critical care facility for several months & when able to a rehab center for several months. It's gng to be a long hard road if she can make it thru the rest of this wk. I may not b eon GB much as we plan to go every day to make sure Bill & Stephanie eat & then trying to help out with the kids. This is a sobering event, Diane is 2 yrs younger than me . . . !! Sorry for such bad news, but that's why I'm absent & may not be here much. Please pray for Diane Sutton, Stephanie's mom, as she is very critical. Thank you prayer bears!
Place: Allen, TX Comments: Another great SOCite has passed away. Bob Burns (SOC'65) passed away approximately 1:50 p.m. today. You may remember that Bob gave his wonderful singing voice to so many of our choir concerts and musicals. He had undergone heart surgery recently and then came down with pneumonia. His condition kept deteriorating. He was a really good, likable man, and will be missed.
Place: Cypress Springs Comments: Don - I have put Doug on our prayer list at church.
Place: Sachse Comments: Don, my prayers for Doug are going up now. The sentiments of SNL and Toni are also mine. Let Doug know that many are thinking of him and in prayer for him.
Place: Garland USA Comments: Don, so sorry to hear about the turn of events for Doug. We will most definitely keep Doug, his family and you in our thoughts and prayers as we keep the positive "chain" going for all of those who are near and dear to us who are suffering.
Place: Richardson Comments: Don, I am so sorry to hear that Doug has had the cancer reappear. I know this must be so difficult for him & his family as well as you. Definite prayers for some improvement & positive news next Thursday. Think & pray POSITIVE, Positive, positive positive . . .
Place: LV, TX Comments: Hello folks - I've been somewhat out of touch & must apologize for that. However, recent events urge that I call on the 'prayer bears' once again for my brother, Doug (SOC '68). He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in ’07, and in ‘08, also Mantle Cell Lymphoma in his intestines. He received numerous treatments, including stem cell replacement therapy, and was given the ‘all clear’ in late ’10. He returned to work only last Jan., coincidently at the V. A. IT Center in Austin where I work. During his 3rd semi-annual check-up just before the holidays, Mantle Cell was discovered in his intestines again. So, he resumed weekly chemo treatments at the VA Medical Center in Temple during Dec. & Jan. He was given 1 of the original drugs used, plus 2 newer ones not previously available at the time of his stem cell treatment. After a brief resting period, he returned to the VA hospital only yesterday for lab work & scans to determine signs of progress. He’ll return to his oncologist on Feb. 16th to learn the results. If the news is positive, he'll continue to receive these treatments until 'all clear' again, so he can return to work & other normal activities. If not, his chances for improvement may be very limited, if at all. So, in order to not dwell on the negative outcome, we’re obviously praying very hard for positive results. Please add Doug to your prayer lists, along with Ada, Sam, Dane, Karen “Shortcake”, and any others I didn't mention or may not be aware of.
I don’t recall that we’ve lost anyone to the ‘Big C’ & can’t help but believe the power of our bears deserves a lot of credit for that - thank you! |
