Place: bigD Comments: Sorry Sandy, the 23rd is the day we have our family Christmas. I can't be at your party but Happy Birthday. Just know that I want to be there.
Place: Richardson Comments: Jack-I forgot to mention I do have a substantial number of liquor bottles that will be set out. And I do have one that I belive has your name on it . . . I'm sure you & GJ will get along just fine. I do have Rum as well as many others.
Place: Out West Comments: Jack, Originally we all lived in the metroplex. Bob met Wendy at ACU and she was from Baytown. Bob is a comedian and can live anywhere so long as he's close to an airport. They moved close to her home town and had 3 boys. Von won't let me call them "BRATS" as I'm wont to do so in honor of Wendys home town the collective noun for the Smiley boys became "BAY-RATS" They are living up to the name.
Place: 66erville Comments: I'm probably going to regret asking, but...Dale how do you come to call your grandkids bay-rats?? SNL if you have some rum and butter we can turn that apple cider into hot, buttered rum drinks!!!
Place: B-day Party in Richardson Comments: I'm sorry you can't make it, but Thanks for letting me know Dale, & you too Susan. Mama always said it was a bad time for a party! I've heard from some of you saying you'd be here & I appreciate the heads-up. But since some of our gang only cks the GB once a week or so, I'm going ot repeat the invite. For those who haven't seen it, here's the invite to my B-day Party on the 23rd! Let me know if you think you'll be here. I want to make sure I have plenty of food & drink!! ![]() Holy Moly, Sakes Alive . . . . Look Who’s Turning Sixty-Five! Yep, it's ME!! On the 23rd of this month I will be 65!! And, I've never had a birthday party . . . always told too close to Christmas . . . no one would come! Well guess what? I'm throwing myself a 65th B-day Party and you're all invited!! It's going to be an "Open House - Come & Go" Party. You have 17 days left to reserve a spot on your calendar. Date: Dec. 23, 21012 Time: 3:00 to 6:00pm Place: Sandy & Don's Home ► There will be beer, wine, coffee, tea & hot apple cider to drink along with hot hors d'oeuvres, chips & dip and lots of homemade desserts! Feel free to come at 3:00 and stay all evening! Or, at least stop by & have some food & drink and wish me Happy Birthday. Hope to see all my GB & SOC Friends!!!!! And yes, bring your spouse, it wouldn't be a party without all the spouses!
Place: Grosvenor, Texas Comments: Sandy, Yuvonne and I won't be able to attend your party either due to our son and the BAY-RATS having informed us that they are coming out here to see if there are any animals left that they did not shoot during Thanksgiving. I do think it's a great idea to throw yourself a party and if it was any other time we would be there. Happy Birthday. Of course this reminds me of a story: In our home in Conroe we had seperate "facilities" in our bathroom each located off the dressing area inside a small alclove with a door you could close for privacy. One day I was passing Vons' door and heard her sniffling inside. Being a caring husband I asked "Are you alright?" She responded "It's my potty and I'll cry if I want to." I bet there will be no tears at your whingding party. Y'all have fun!
Place: FW Comments: Sandy, I'd love to go to your party, but afraid I won't be able to make it. Very sorry. Wish yourself a happy birthday for me that night. Love ya.
Place: Calif. Comments: It would be ironic for Smiley not to have the last word. Speaking of which, my mother never saw the irony in calling me an SOB. Go figure.
Place: Richardson Comments: OK, surely y'all aren't going to let Smiley have the last word??!! I'd have thought Nance, Jack, or Sammy would have had a good comeback.
Place: Echo, Texas Comments: OK, I gave you a day. No one is going to tell the one about the lens grinder that fell into his machine and made a spectacle of himself ?
Place: Lazy S Ranch Comments: Shorcake, Let us know how your neice is progressing. I hope she is healing and won't need plastic surgery but they can do remarkable things in that area these days. We all have seen the young model that walked into the airplane prop. Her spirit and her looks are doing exceptional considering all she went through. Then there was the young lady that backed into the airplane prop: Disaster ! Sorta reminds me of the butcher that backed into the meat grinder- He got a little behind in his work. OK I quit. Thanks again, JWT.
Place: Richardson Comments: Jerry, I kinda figured you wouldn't be able to come up for a joint party, but rest assured . . . Jack & I will do a toast to YOU on your (our) b-day!!!
Place: Richmond Comments: I have not posted in a while, but I do check the GB every day or two to try top keep up with all the goings on. Belated birthday and anniversary wishes to those that I may have missed. Just had to comment on a couple of things. First, unfortunately I will have to miss my twin's birthday due to a gathering that my clan is having for me down here, but I will be there in spirit and will probably have a spirit to celebrate the occasion(pun intended). Secondly, if I had known at the time that I was going to get credit all these years later for helping Smiley and Hawkins get through math I would have extracted a price from each of them( maybe some help in the social areas was I was lacking).
Place: 66erville Comments: Got up this morning, trimmed and mowed the yard. Spent the afternoon putting up the Christmas Tree and decorations. Cooked dinner outside on the grill. Christmas Time in Texas!! Merry Christmas, Y'all!!!
Place: Richardson Comments: Went to the Annual '63 Christmas Lunch at Peaches house today. Always so much fun to see all my '63, '64, & '65 SOC Friends. Judy Bass & I are the only '66ers there, but that's OK, it makes us the youngest in the grp! Of course Judy's sister is Martha Bass from '63. Good food, good company . . . enjoyed it a lot!
