Place: FW Comments: Sandy, I'm in the hospital in Waco with my Dad. He's inbad condition and I don't know when I'll be back home. When I do get there, I'll see if I can give Mike a hand. If you talk to him and Sue, give them my love.
Place: Richardson Comments: Carol, she is not able to go home due to her being in bed & not moving around for 60 plus days. She needs help & rehab/PT. I'll see f I can reach Mike & find out what facility & the exact name & address. It wd be really nice if we could all send Christmas /Get Well cards to her to let her know she is being thought of and prayed for!!! Carol, you should drop by more often . . . we miss you! Merry Christmas!!
Place: KC, MO Comments: Hi, everyone. I just called Allen Presbyterian Hospital and was told that Sue had been released today. They didn't tell me if she had gone home or had been transferred elsewhere. Anyone know? Sandy, wish that I could be there for your birthday. Have a great one! (You too, Jerry!) Love you guys - Carol
Place: Richardson Comments: Yes, she can have visitors & I think that wd be so wonderful of you to go visit them Ronney!! They don't have much family and literally... not support network! Betty, Sue's sis, has only come to visit a couple of times these last 2 mo & only relieved Mike one day. Sue has no children & Mike's dtr lives several hrs away & is Home Schooling her two young children & taking care of her elderly & aging G-parents as well.Mike's cell is listed correctly in our 45th Reunion Dir & he is at the hospital or Nursing facility every day. If anyone else lives out that way a visit wd probably be very welcomed. As someone speaking from experience earlier this yr, the kindest thing you can do for someone sitting all day in a hospital watching over their loved one... is offer to stay right there with their loved one and watch over and/or talk with them while they go out for at least an hour or hour and a half and get a bite to eat!!! He needs to get out of that hospital for a least an hour or so, but he's afraid to leave her alone. He was very emotional when I assured him we wd pray for Sue & him & we loved them.
Place: Garland USA Comments: SNL, thank you so much for sharing the information about Sue.
Place: Sachse Comments: The news about Sue is just devastating. I will continue to pray for her restored health and Mike's strength and courage to continue to care for her. God bless them both.
Place: Allen, TX Comments: Sandy, is Sue allowed to have visitors? Presby Allen is just down the road from me. I will go look in on her if she is allowed visitors. If not, I will just continue to pray for her.
Place: Richardson Comments: There's no good way to say this & I've procrastinated since last night. I spoke with Mike McDow last night regarding Sue. Yesterday was 2 months since she's been home. It's kinda confusing, but I'm going to give you what Mike told me. Sue fell at home & broke hr back, but didn't know it. She hobbled around on a cane but it became increasingly worse. Dr. did MRI & discovered broken back. Went into Methodist hospital Oct 12. Had surgery. Was recovering well but, got out of bed w/o any one being there to help & fell back on bed rail & broker her back a 2nd time. Another surgery. Doing good & PT person came in rm & Mike went dwnstrs. When he came back Sue was on floor as PT person let her fall & you guessed it . . . broke her back a 3rd time!! Had surgery. Not doing as well this time as blood sugar unstable. After 4 wks they sent her to a Skilled Nursing Facility for rehab. After a wk or so she got an infection & back to hospital. Then when stable sent her back to the Nursing facility. This time they didn't monitor her blood sugar & this last Monday she was going into shock & they rushed her to Presby-Allen. She is still there now. Bec she's so weak & couldn't withstand a liver transplant at this time, she has been removed from the organ recipient list. Of course her diabetes & failing liver make recovery that much harder. Mike is with her all the time & only goes home to get a few hrs sleep & to shower. He is exhausted & scared. He said he doesn't know what else to do but stay with her bec he's afraid they won't take care of her properly. Please think of Sue & Mike as we prepare for Christmas & being with family. Mike said he wd be grateful for every prayer we can send. God Bless Sue & Mike.
Place: Garland USA Comments: SNL....thanks for the update on Sue. I was thinking that it had been far too long since I had heard from her. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her as well as Mike. SNL we really appreciate the updates.

Place: Sue Ash McDow very ill Comments: For all you prayer warriors out there, we need to pray for Sue Ash McDow. Chris Stoehr contacted Barbara F. (Chris was once married to Barb's sister, Susan & they remain friends) to let Barb know Sue has been in the hospital for about 6 wks. She is very very ill. Her blood sugar was down to 28 yesterday. Mike has been staying with her most of the time but he is exhausted! Don't know what hospital, I'll find out & let you know. In case you don't know, Sue has liver failure and has needed a liver transplant for several yrs. She finally got on the donor list late last yr, but nothing has happened so far. This is serious & I will keep you updated as soon as I get more info. |
