Place: 66erville Comments: Happy belated birthday to Barbara. SNL must be really sick, she stayed home from Gordy's Memorial Day party!! Y'all that didn't come missed out on melt-in-your-mouth BBQ (you never need a knife with Gordy's BBQ) and some excellent sides and desserts. Thanks to the small turnout, we have a ton of left-overs to eat. The grocery bill will be down this week! Hope all had a safe and enjoyable holiday, but took time to remember the reason it is a holiday. And took time to teach those younger the meaning of the day.
Place: Sachse Comments: Well said Tommy. Today we honor our fallen heroes whose service we should always cherish. Sad news about Denise. It was puzzling how she seemed to disappear. I know she is in a better place now. JD, take good care of yourself. Glad you are better. Hope to see many of you at Gordy's Memorial Day Party today. Best brisket you can find anywhere.

Place: Soggy & Cloudy Richardson Comments: I'd like to wish the Best Friend anyone could have a very happy 65th B-day today!!! HAPPY B-Day To BARB FUGATE On Her 65th B-Day Today!! Since you're in Portland, I know you're having a great time. We've laughed together, cried together, laughed at each other, supported one another and had some really great times. May you have a really great B-day and may we have lots more fun times ahead. Love you!
Place: Allen, Texas Comments: This WILL be a great Memorial Day weekend. My granddaughter, Lila, will be at our house, later today. Love having her here. I will most definitely be taking pictures and might even share one.
Place: Allen, Texas Comments: Glad to hear you are feeling better, J.D.
Place: Richardson Comments: JD- You have really been thru a rough patch! We've been wondering where you were, had no idea you were so sick. Very glad to hear you are doing much better now & hopefully will continue. Hmmm, now that the maid has been on the DL list, has Kathy had to hire a real maid to help out around the house? Honestly, what men won't do to get out of cleaning!! Seriously JD, hope you are good-to-go for many many yrs! I agree with you on both points - - It was sad to learn of the passing of Denise Hurt. But back before our 40th Don L, Rick W, Jack H and I put a lot of effort and time in to looking for our lost classmates. There was one think I learned from the experience; if a sibling tells you they have no idea where their sibling is or how to reach them bec they haven't heard from them in yrs . . . then you might as well back off. That person does not want to be found & would not be happy to talk with or see us! Such was the case with Denise and several other classmates. Who knows what life-changing events people go thru that make them recoil from life. May Denise Rest in Peace with the Lord. And yes, Remember why we have Memorial Day. Be Safe . . . Fly Your Flag . . . And Remember All or Veterans, Past & Present!
Place: WI 66 Comments: Am very sad to hear about Denise. Have been trying, for 4 0r 5 yrs to find where she flew to but even her sister didn't know. Hope all that are having health problems are doing better. Had a small battle with a cloged artery to the heart. In 7 days got out for 5 and had a situation described to me as being over medicated for a overnight stay with a pluse of 31...so to say I'm a little slow may really mean something! My Dr's eliminated 4 different medications and cut others to one a day. Seems to have settled me downdown and am doing great. Happy birthday to all and hope everyone has a wonderful holiday...but please remember why we celebrate Memorial Day...to me it is trualy a day to remember all those who have given their life so we are free. The best to all!
Place: H -Town Comments: Indeed it is so sad to hear of the loss of Denise Hurt. I remember her so well as a sincere and kind hearted person. My deepest condolences go out to her family and friends. Pray for Oklahoma. My son lived in Tulsa for over 3 years, and the people are so good. When I visited Tulsa it felt like I was back in time when people were much friendlier and less rushed.
Place: Dallas Comments: I am sorry to hear about Denise. I hoped we could find her but this is not the result we wanted!!! Sandy glad you and Don made it through the bad weather. I am sorry Don and I will not be able to come to Gordy's Memorial Day. I will be in Portland with him through Wednesday. I am looking forward to have more than 2 days with him!!!! Everyone have a great Holiday.
Place: Richardson Comments: Late yesterday I s/w Gordy for a few minutes, first time I've had any voice for 5 days! He ask me to remind everyone that: You are invited to celebrate Memorial Day on Monday at Gordy's house!! He's cooking all the meat & dinner will start at 5:00pm. He'll provide meat, iced tea, plates, plastic ware & sauce! So bring a covered dish & something to drink (if you don't like ice tea) & a folding chair if you have it! It's always a good time & fun to visit with all the SOCites . . . so come on out around 4:00 or so & have a relaxing Memorial Day with Gordy & friends!
Place: Richardson Comments: My bro cld last night & all of us are so thankful we decided to go ahead & leave after dinner & not stay the night! But a miracle did happened Sunday. I told y'all abt us driving thru that wall of water, driving rain & hail as we drove south on I 35 out of Okcy. Today we finally got up the nerve to go out & look at Don's Edge to see how bad the hail damage was on it. We couldn't find a single dimple!!! Don't understand it, we can't explain it, but we are so happy. It was a miracle! Today is first day in the last 6 that I've got a little improvement. I've been laying in bed for a wk except for Sunday. Was determined today I was not going to stay in bed. Hopefully I'll get better every day & be feelilng great on memorial Day!! Y'all be careful . . . storms are rolling thru here!!
Place: FW Comments: So sorry to hear about Denise Hurt. I remember her well. Your Oklahoma trip was indeed memorable and exciting! That kind of excitement we can all do without! Glad you and Don and your family is safe.
Place: Richardson Comments: It is very sad indeed KRL. It's horrifying & heart-wrenching to watch on TV & read in the paper. It's hard to comprehend such devastation. I'm not trying to compound all this bad news with more, but I felt y'all needed to know. I recvd an em from a classmates a week ago saying he had been perusing the Internet and came across info that a Denise Jeanne Hurt had passed away last yr. I told him I wd ck it out as I don't like to post info abt a/o passing away without good confirmation. Of course I've been sick (mostly in bed) & virtually unable to talk since last Wed, so thank goodness for email or I'd be unable to communicate at all. I did receive confirmation yesterday from the family of Denise Jeanne Hurt that she passed away in Sept 2012. It was from congestive heart failure & complications due to diabetes. Thought you wd want to know as so many of us looked so hard for her the past 5-7 yrs but was never able to find her.
Place: CS Comments: Glad you got home safely Sandy...Toby was on tv news last night talking about Moore. Really sad. |
