Place: 66erville Comments: SNL, that is one (of the many) things I don't understand about pro sports. You'd think that after all the years these "kids" have been playing, they would not have to "think and play". How many practices did even I go through where the coach set the play like, "one out, runner on first" and hit the ball to a player so he would know where to throw the ball in the game? Every player should know what to do if the ball is hit to him BEFORE the ball is pitched. Players at that level who make mental mistakes should be ridding the bench!
Place: Richardson Comments: Good for you Rick! Any of us that get out and play (whatever the activity) are better off!! I bet you & the team will get better as you go forward. If it were easy we wouldn't play those darn MLB players so much money!! Hang in there, you'll get better.
Place: bigD Comments: I was catcher the first game and first base the next. We lost them both. When at bat I was put out at first twice and made one run. We'll see how it goes tonight.
Place: Richardson Comments: Jack, as for Rick . . . I thought he meant he was the pitcher & was 0-2. In any case 0-2 isn't good regardless of the team or position. Jack, maybe you could stop the grounder by throwing your glove down on it! Then, bend over to pick it up. I love what Wash said when asked about the poor judgment plays by several of the new guys. He said, "I've got to teach them how to play and think at the same time!"
Place: 66erville Comments: Happy Birthday, Dale!! With wishes for many more and we will all party with you. NOW, go read your e-mails. Your box is full and my stuff is getting kicked back. No matter what Southworth says, don't go stand by the snail mail box. I didn't send a card. Happy Birthday to Don too and the same wish for him. Thanks for the update, Toni. You're right about the good and the bad of staying and moving. It was good to talk to Bruce. Too bad he is not off a day THIS week. SNL, I think Ricky is playing 2nd base so low and outside is not good for him! Are you getting any hits, Rick?? I could PROBABLY bend over and stop a grounder OR make the throw, but not both!!
Place: Garland USA Comments: Happy birthday Professor Smiley! Very sorry to hear about Kathy Buster Bunyard. Thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
Place: Richardson Comments: Rick - you're going to have to do better than that are you'll be outta there! I hope you went more than 4 innings! Oh, that's Nick Tepesh I'm thinking about . . . never mind! Hang in there Rick, keep 'em low and on the outside corner & you'll do fine. Let me know how things go as you get further into the games. And a Big Happy B-day to Mr. Smiley!!!! Tda, 6-30, was my hubby's B-day too! Hope it was a really good day for you Dale. How are you & Yuvonne enjoying your Ranch! Come see us sometime.
Place: The (hot) Woodlands, TX Comments: Birthday Greetings to the ever-youthful Dale Smiley! I dropped your card in the mail yesterday but had already sealed the envelope when I remembered that I was going to include a LARGE check. Well, it isn't really a big amount ... just LARGE ... maybe two feet by three feet. I'm not sure the Coleman banks will even honor it. Go wait by the mailbox ... it'll be along directly. Maybe.
Place: big d Comments: Joined a softball team at church, we play on Monday nights. I found out I lost my throwing arm, oh that's right, I never had one. SNL, Oand2 , is that good?
Place: Rockdale, Texas Comments: Many a good time with Gary Dagley. His memory is not only vivid, but actually factual. At least that's what he told me.
Place: Cypress springs Comments: No Toni has not moved yet Jack.... She realized she was moving further away from me and old not stand the thought so they are still in Garland for the time being! We had a really great time at BJ's the other night. Tuesdays are always great there...those little corn muffins were really good! Sure wish it was closer to me! Gosh Karen keep it up and Fugate will hire you as his assistant on videos!
Place: 66erville Comments: Maybe we should have a July mini and give Linda a forum to tell her stories. I bet that would draw a crowd. Especially if you didn't know if you are in any of them!! I love hearing SOC stories. Guess that is why I like being around Dagley so much. Wish I had paid more attention of what was going on and where it happened. I remember people but not so good with events.
Place: Wills Point, Tx Comments: Thanks Sandy, I will ck out the obits Sunday! I have so many memories of Kathy when we were young! She was my friend plus my sister in law! Sharon Erwin, Kathy, Carloyn Willis and I were running buddies! I could tell yall some interesting stories! Gonna miss her!
Place: Richardson Comments: I s/w Sheryl Bunyard and yes, her sister-n-law, Kathy Buster Bunyard, passed away very unexpectedly on Tues. Kathy was Sheryl's brother's wife. He was a 1960 graduate & I believe Kathy was 1965. It will be in Sunday's DMN paper. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers for the Bunyard family as they are trying to make it through this terrible week.
Place: Richardson Comments: Have not heard anything yet, but will call my contact & let you know soon. TNX for the FYI Linda. |
