Place: Coppell Comments: It's nice to remember our firsts growing up in Oak Cliff. My first date was with Charlotte Hillburn Walker. We went to the Lisbon Elementary School 6th grade banquet. Trying to be the perfect date, I took Ms. Boswell's class on proper etiquette when dating. Dad and I picked up Charlotte at her house. On the way to the Banquet, I tried to remember to compliment my date. I told her she had nice shoes and mine were newer. Evidently I forgot which eating utensils to use as I used my only fork on the salad and had to use a knife and spoon to cut my chicken. Remember the song "slip sliding away" ? Never could figure out why I never dated much after that. Thanks for the memory Charlotte.
Place: Grosvenor Comments: Our good friend, Tim Hawkins, is doing a show today in Ft.Worth at The Met Church at 11301 Old Denton Road. The show starts at 7:00 pm. He is a great performer and will keep you laughing with his wit and musical talent.
Place: 66erville Comments: Ronney, please note that I did not submit any pictures of Emerson lately. I wanted Lila to have a full run of her days in the spotlight.
Place: 66erville Comments: That's right, Dale. What Rick said is right. Look at poor Louis, he lost the girl and the ring!! Unless you want your foot to swell up and loose feeling in it, don't use Shortcake's surgeon.
Place: bigD Comments: Dale it seems to me you came out on the best side of the deal if you still have the ring but not the girl. Lets not discuss where the ring is.
Place: Richardson Comments: Toni - Hard to believe Hudson has gotten so big. Seems as though all our G-kids are getting big quicker than we wd like!! We returned the 2 boys to their mom on Thur. We met her in Temple & we all had lunch and we came home alone. Geez, it sure seems quiet around here. But it was a hard 9 days on us. We climbed many a stair, spent more than 7hrs at Summer Adventure, played miniature golf in the hot sun, went to two different playgrounds, Nickle Rama, a movie and swimming at least 4 times! It will take us 2-3 days to bounce back! ![]() But I wouldn't trade it for the world!!! Now the youngest, Brooklyn age 3 and a half, is asking when she can come to Dallas & stay with us like her triplet siblings are doing.
Place: Richardson Comments: Aaaahhh . . . young love! Louis Langford and I were an item back at Lisbon. I really liked Mr. Langford (Louis's dad), he was a very nice man. He took Louis and I to the movie's and to the Singing Hills Riding Stables nearly every Saturday. My mom wd usually pick us up. Louis gave me a sterling silver ring at Christmas one year and I wore it around my neck for several yrs at Lisbon. In fact, I still have that ring in my jewelry box today!!! Then we left the small Lisbon & graduated over to the new Zumwalt. So many people and lots of new boys!! We were still friends but each of us went in different directions. Louis was and still is a very nice gentleman. If I can ever get he & Linda to a Mini or a reunion, I'd love to show him the ring and see if he remembers giving it to me!!
Place: FW Comments: Sorry, Dale. Her name doesn't ring (get it?) a bell. Good luck with the surgery!
Place: Lazy S Ranch Comments: Do any of you O. W. Holmes folk remember a young lady named Dannie Sue Thompson. In the eighth grade Ms. Thompson and I were "going steady". At that time that meant two things. First she would wear my ring around her neck, Thanky vurrry much. ( y'all remember the 20 kt. gold rings with the little gold initial letter on a black field of onyx with a tiny little chipped diamond in the corner) and secondly, it meant we would meet every Friday night at the Crest and "sit together" ( we all knew what that meant) One Friday she did not show up at the movies and before I could talk to her on the phone I was greeted by a fellow Zumwalt classmate at school on Monday. My classmate had two things: first was my ring and next was directions of where Ms Thompson suggested I should place the ring. If any of you know her where-abouts I would like to contact her and seek permission to have the ring moved, possibly surgically, to a more comfortable and befitting position. That girl scared me.
Place: Raining in Richardson Comments: Can't believe it came a sudden rain a little while ago. It was pouring! How wonderful in late July to be getting so much rain!!! ![]() Glad to see that Jack & Dale are such music lovers and quiet clever to boot!! Hey, put up another Grandone photo few minutes ago. Y'all should ck it out and also look at the 2013 album, you may have missed a few!!
Place: Echo, Texas Comments: Jack, That there be clever. How you do dat?
Place: 66erville Comments: Dale, shouldn't that be Echo, Echo, Echo, Echo, Echo, Echo, Texas? Can you have one echo?
Place: South of Burkett Comments: Perfect Pitch : When a ukulele hits an acordian as you toss it into a dumpster.
Place: Echo, Texas Comments: John, You know the difference between a ukulele and a trampoline? You take your shoes off before you jump on a trampoline.
Place: 66erville Comments: Sam, so glad your house in Oak Cliff was not damaged. Don't you think it is about time you sold that place?? Or are you planning to move back there?? |
