I asked Mary Ann if she thought I was the ideal man.  She said, 'The ideal man doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, doesn't do drugs, doesn't swear, doesn't get angry, doesn't exist".

The fight is on.

Just catching up on all the troubling news. My heart goes out to Don Lincoln and family in the loss of his precious brother Doug. Praying for God's healing comfort to embrace you all at this time. What a special person he was and the obituary was so touching.

Prayers for healing and recovery for our dear classmates, Mike Dunn and Charles Moss. I have known these guys since grade school and think the world of both of them. Get well quick guys.

SNL, thanks for the update on Charles.  He continues to be in our thoughts and prayers.

Sammy I was presented with a written hand-out at my doctor's office today.  She has her practice down to a "very" fine science of minutes and dollars as well as her newly designed "dos and don'ts"!!   Our health care coverage is less and less impressive each day...especially if we get sick!!

Jack, I'm excited that you have such confidence in me for being able to get in & out of jail.  I haven't actually had the experience myself, but saw on the Evening News where two prisoners with life sentences in Federal Prison used fake paperwork & walked right out!!  They did it 10 days apart & no one even questioned the early releases!  That's why I said it's easier to get out of jail than a hospital!!!

Charles called this mrng & it was 7:00pm when he finally got released!  Then had to stop to get prescriptions, so it was a long tiring day for him.  Many of you may know Charles has an aneurysm in one of his arteries & the test yesterday showed it is now 9 centimeters long!  He had just made the decision to have the heart surgery & had left his surgeon's ofc when he had the mild stroke.  But doctors now tell him it is a "priority" to have the surgery.  Yes, the surgery is risky because of his underlying problems with C. F, but the doctors say it is just as risky to not have the surgery.  Of course it's easy for a doctor to say . . .
it's not their life on the line.  He hopes to get in to see his doctors and schedule the heart surgery.   He will let me know as soon as a date is set.

Adding my 2 cents worth, my family physician of 28 years sold his practice to Texas Health Physicians Group. Now he is among the 6 doctors that have a daily quota to see patients. After 30 minutes in the waiting room and 25 minutes in a 4' by 8' room,he cannot find the time to chit chat about my overall health. It's "you're here for a specific reason and this is what you need, I have 13 more patients to see before I leave at 3:00." RIDICULOUS !!
Then the check out procedure is even more ridiculous.

I have out processed from VietNam, the Army and a couple of hospitals and I know all of them are a series of wait, wait and more waiting. Never had to process out of jail (yet) but it sounds like SNL knows, so I'll take her word for it!
Glad to hear that Charles and Mike are doing better and both making plans to go home. Hope they will remember to take things slow and not engage in a game of football to soon. Maybe not even tiddle-winks for a while.
Praying that Don's pain will lighten soon too.

Em frm Mike Dunn & he's dng a little better.  If no more "leaks" appear, he hopes to go home by end of wk.  He appreciates the Emails from some of you as they brighten his day.

Haven't heard frm Charles yet, but I know getting out of a hospital is harder & can take longer than processing out of a jail!!  I hope that test went well tda.

Prayers and well wishes for Mike & Charles.  Deepest sympathy to Don Lincoln on the loss of his brother.  In our later yrs is when we need each other the most!

So glad that Charles is doing better.  Don just had lunch with him several weeks ago and was talking about how good he looked.  Prayers that he continues to get better.  Sandy, is right we never know when something is going to happen to a loved one or our friends.   Life is so precious and we need to appreciate everyday that we have.  Looking forward to November 9th.  Sandy, thank you for getting this together.

Here's the Good News Toni was looking for. . .  I s/w Charles little bit ago & he is doing much better.  The Great News is that he actually called me & we talked!!  He said it only took minutes for ambulance to arrive & very close to Methodist there in Oak Cliff.  They met him at he door & he got immediate treatment.  His face is getting better & no other paralysis!!  Quick action can make the diff btwn a good outcome & a bad one.  He had a TIA.  I'm sure most of you are familiar with that term.

Thank goodness Charles is dng better.  They will run one more test tmo & he hopes he may be able to go home late tmo.  We hope so too Charles.  Love you!

OK  Toni, this is what I've got for everyone . . .   Last night I attended '63's 50th Reunion.  Had a great time & saw some dear friends & got to visit with some teachers.  It made me realize just how precious each day is & how quickly we can have someone taken away from us!  There were 4 major players from '63 missing from last nights celebration, 3 of them were friends of mine.

The Good News for us '66ers is that we have the opportunity to get together & see one another on Nov 9th.  If you are physically able to make it - -  do it!!  Please don't send me a note saying you're too busy & you'll catch us "next time"!  There may not be a "next time" for you or, someone you really would like to have seen.  Make the effort, you'll be glad you did!!   Enough said.

Don, Sarah and I express our sincere sympathy to you and your family on the lost of your brother. Thank you for sharing Doug's obituary.
Our prayers are with Charles and Mike as well.
As getting older would have it, illness strikes our SOC family often now, which is another reason we all should attend the mini reunions. We don't know what is in store between now and our 50th.
