Place: Grosvenor, Texas Comments: We hear so many stories about bad people doing bad things with guns these days. I read a story this week that was refreshing because a gun was used in a happy ending. The article was entitled "Lady stops charging Grizzly bear with .22 pistol" It seems a young couple were on a trek in Alaska and unknowingly walked between a 850 lb grizzly mother bear and her cubs. They heard the menicing growl and turned to see the mother bear on her hind legs stretched to her full 8 foot six inch heighth. The bear took off after the couple with a look of pure hatred. As the couple turned to run they both knew you cannot outrun a provoked bear. It was at this point that the young lady remembered she had a small .22 Derringer in her purse. Grabbing it she turned and took careful aim and shot her boyfriend twice in the knee. Afterwhich she was able to walk carefully down the trail to their parked truck and drove safely away. I love a happy ending. Having to give up your guns because bad people use them in bad ways is like having yourself castrated because your neighbors have too many kids. It just doesn't work that way

I recvd an Em with a link to Bob Smiley's You Tube antics. I clicked it this mrng & haven't stopped laughing!! Bob is definitely Dale's son! It's clips from many of his performances. If you want to brighten up this dreary day, click on the link and enjoy the laughs. There is more than one clip and I clicked on them all. ![]() http://www.youtube.com/user/bobsmiley12
Place: Coppell Comments: Did I miss the mini?
Place: Allen, Texas Comments: Sammy, my birthday was special. We went to Abilene to be with our son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. She has really grown and is talking. Well, I use the term "talking" liberally. Jabbering mostly. But, she has a few words she uses a LOT....like "MINE." LOL Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday. Unfortunately, we won't be able to stay for dinner. We have another commitment in Lucas, TX at 6 p.m.
Place: Richardson Comments: Cathy-So glad to hear you & Fred will be at the Mini & TNX for the RSVP for dinner! As of now, I have 27 who have RSVP'd for dinner. Will be a good crowd! Jack-NO. We didn't eat any meals at the Wolf. I packed Ham, mayo, lettuce & bread for ham sandwiches & a jar of PB! Also a big bag of the multi-variety of chips, the cupcakes & some sodas, OJ & milk. Don went to Whataburger both mrngs & brought bk brkfst. It was just abt 2 mi dwn the rd. Then at lunch we came upstrs & had sandwichwes, drinks, chips & cupcakes. Ea Rm has a Frige & MW. On Fri nite we ate before we arrived & we went to the Applebe's just dwn the rd for Sat dinner. They only have 2 restaurants in hotel. One is Bar & Grill and only open lunch & dinner & other is a big buffet restaurant. The nite time price was $20 per adult & $14 per kid. It was only slightly less expensive for brkfst buffet. They did hve places in Water Pk to get sandwiches/drinks & price not too bad, but with 3 kids we decided to save the big food expense & opted for in-our-room brkfst & lunch & Applebe's for dinner. The kids loved eating brkfst & lunch in the room bec they didn't have to get dressed & walk all the way out to the car. Plus it was much faster than going out. With the money we saved I was able to buy that darn magical brown stick! Plus ea got a souveneir frm Gift shop!! Seriously, with a little preplanning & bringing some basic food & snacks & drinks you can save a lot & have some quality time talking & having fun with the kiddos. Have to warn you - - inside the Water Pk & around the main Hall dwnstrs . . . it is so noisy you can hardly hear!! but once you go up the elevators & start dwn the hall to the room it is much better.
Place: Paradise Comments: Sandy, Just wanted to let you know Fred & I will be at the mini and will be staying for dinner. Looking forward to it.
Place: Soggy Sachse Comments: SNL, did you eat at the lodge? How was the food and prices?
Place: Richardson Comments: Couldn't resist, I posted 2 new photos of the triplets. Ck out the P&J pg to see how big they've gotten!!
Place: Richardson Comments: Ok, now for more of the story. Had to eat & rest up B4 I could continue! ![]() One of the activities they had a Great Wolf was the Magi Quest! We saw kids running around pointing Magic Wands of various colors & designs at items on the walls, treasure chest & crystals encased in glass. On Sat afternoon I slipped out of the water park & ckd it out. Those Magic Wands ranged from $14.99 to more than $35! Then I found out you have to pay $12.99 to "activate" them. Once they're activated the kids shake them twice & point to an item. It then talks, lights up or both. They give you a booklet that helps the kids find the treasures & each item gives you clues to the next one. You have to do them in order. I bought one cheap brown stick . . . uh, I mean Magic Wand for $14.99 plus activation fee. They can share! The triplets had so much fun Sat night using that Magic Wand to complete 3 Quests, after we ckd out Sun we let them go on another Quest. They couldn't stop talking about all the magic stuff they saw & how they came to life when touched by the Magic Wand. How does it go? "Hotel room $299 a night plus fees & taxes, Magi Quest Wand & activation fee $31.98 . . . amount of fun the 5 of us had at the Water Park & the kids had on the Magi Quest Adventures . . . Priceless!!!!
Place: Richardson Comments: Happy B-day yesterday to Ronney! Hope it was a good one!! Well, what a wkend we had w/the Triplets. Don arrived about 5:00pm w/them & we loaded up the car & headed out to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, TX. It's a big hotel w/huge indoor water park!! Oh my!! There's a Wave Pool, numerous slides, river, pool, kiddie pool, etc, etc. Several of the many slides were 4 stories high & you come dwn in a 4-5 person raft!! I didn't go on those, as way too fast & high for me. It was wild!! Spent more than 6 hrs in the Water Pk on Sat with short break for lunch. Also about an hour or so Sun mrng B4 ckng out. Don & I realized Sat that we may have been the oldest people in swim suits & actually in the water. Others our age were fully clothed & sitting in chairs. It was fun being a kid for the wkend but exhausting!! The whole hotel is geared toward the kids. There are games, magic quests, animated shows, laser tag, and more. I kid you not, there was never a dull moment. We were all exhausted by Sun after ckng out & stopping to eat B4 taking them back home. What a great experience for all of us. Don & I are so tired today, we haven't done anything but drink coffee & read the 3 days worth of newspapers we missed. Seriously . . . we're t-i-r-e-d.
Place: Cypress springs Comments: Spent most of today running around Canton....had a great time....lots of really great Christmas decorations out there this month. After I left there I stopped over on hwy 19 at Bob Clifton's place. He makes really great ice cream. Although he has the place up for sale right now. He said to tell everyone hello. Today was the last day for the season for ice cream. He will open back up in May
Place: Coppell Comments: Happy birthday to my rock throwing buddy Ronney McKee . Hope your day was special.
Place: Forest Manor Comments: " Acorn", said the old oak tree, It's time for you to go. You must say goodby to me, And fall to the ground below. There you will lie, burried deep Under the Autumn leaves to sleep. While all about the North winds blow, And fields are covered white with snow. Mother earth will keep you warm Guard you safely from all harm. Then when you waken by and by, A budding twig so tender, small. See above you near the sky Forest trees so strong and tall. Hear them whisper low and clear, "Welcome, tiny oak tree dear." ( yes, the decorations motivated me)
Place: Richardson Comments: Here are the Monkey Cupcakes I made the Triplets for their 9th BD. Don should be pulling in any min with them. Can't wait!!!
