Place: DS Comments: Prayers continue for Charles. He has a lot of healing to do. My youngest is having surgery at Baylor tomorrow. Please keep Courtney in you prayers.
Place: Richardson Comments: Charles cld a little bit ago & he sounded just a tad bit better. He said the doctors were working on adjusting his meds to find the right combination. His heart has slowed down a bit & he was able to talk easier. Hopefully the docs are on the right track. That's why they want him to be there in the hospital so they can monitor him 24/7. Charles wants everyone to know he appreciates the prayers & concern from his SOC friends & asked that you keep praying because he feels it is helping.
Place: The Woodlands, TX Comments: Getting back to those lists of Christmas carols, not a one of 'em had my two favorites listed: -- "Carol of the Bells" and -- "Do You Smell What I Smell?" Wishing good health (or at least improving health) to all of you!
Place: Major Update on Charles Moss Comments: Just got a call & it was Charles himself. Bad news, he has suffered a major set-back today!! The main drug he is on has caused his heart to start racing. Dr is t/w Pharmaceutical Co trying to see why the drug is causing the problem & what alternative drug they can use. I wish I could be more specific, but I could barely understand him & it hurt him to talk, plus he is heavily medicated. My request to each person reading this GB . . . Please pray for Charles recovery, & for all the Doctors & Nurses taking care of him, that he will get thru this. His mom & sister are there with him.
Place: Richardson Comments: You hit the nail on the head Doc. Since we still had no TV, Internet or pho Monday evening, we went to a Bar & Grill down the street to watch the Cowboys. By half time we were so disgusted, came home. But the good news is we had dial tone & the TV was working!! Watched the last pitiful Q here & went to bed. At least we were warm & cozy.
Place: 66erville Comments: Sorry JD, I thought you bought the rights to the weather a few years ago!! The songs list was a random listing. Mother's power went out last Thursday and I brought her to stay with us. Took her back home yesterday. That was correct, Toni! Very good!! Anybody have an idea who showed up wearing the Cowboys uniforms and "played" the Bears??
Place: Southlake Comments: Sandy then after all your bad days with no power, the Cowboys get beat.
Place: Richardson Comments: What I'm about to tell you is true & I'll suggest that all of you remove two phrases from your vocabulary . . . we sure have!! 1) "It can't get any worse!" And, "What could possibly happen next?" On Thurs evening we turned off our PCs ate supper & nestled in to watch TV. We knew the ice & cold were coming so we had planned to do all the washing, clean house & get everything in order since I had been unable to do any of those things for 3 weeks. We woke at 3:00am Fri with no electricity! But we were confident by mrng it would return. We sat all day Fri huddled by the gas burning fireplace in the Den with blankets. I cld Oncor 3-4 times but only got recordings. We were still sure by night we'd have power. Wrong! It was a long COLD night Fri. Got up Sat & no landline! Don's cell had very little charge and mine was half gone. By Noon we were so cold we bundled up & went to a cafeƩ we eat breakfast at on weekends. They were nice & let us charge our cells while we ate and lingered. then went down the street to Collin Creek Mall and stayed until it closed at 5:00pm. Then we stopped at a restaurant on the way home & slowly ate dinner. Drug it out as long as possible! Drove by our house and no lights yet. We drove to Lowe's & spent another hour or so. Got home at 7:30 & when we opened the door . . . all the fire alarms were going off!! Poor kitty . . . the nose was deafening!! I held the flashlight while Don got the 6 ft ladder out of the garage & we made our way up the stairs where most of the alarms were screaming. You actually have to unplug them from the ceiling, take them down & then remove the battery to kill them. All made more difficult when you are cold & have no light except a flashlight! Finally silence. We have no idea what set them all off. It was another long COLD night. Got up Sunday & by 10:30am we were out of the house & at the cafeƩ, then over to Collin Creek Mall again. Stayed there until 6:00 & then dinner & home. It was now 8:15pm Sun night & we were so depressed bec no status of when power wd return, no TV, no Internet, no landline, no light. There is nothing you can do but sit & talk next to the fire. At 8:30pm the power came on!!!! Oh Happy Day!! Lights flashing & blinking on all the electronics & clocks. The lowest it got in our house was 48 degrees early Sun mrng. You never realize how much you rely on Electricity until you have none!!! We thought the worst was over. We'd already had a memorable Thanksgiving, me still with swollen face & purple/black bruising and Don with the Hives all over him. But Monday mrng (yesterday) with light and no longer feeling frozen, the right side of my face was really itching. It had been itching for abt 2 wks but I thought it was due to my sinuses healing. Of course 3 days of COLD & with no light caused me to not feel it as much & I certainly wasn't able to see in the dark. But yesterday when I got up I was itching so bad & could see there were bumps and some swelling on my face. For goodness sake, I was breaking out in Hives!! By late yesterday I was able to get a Prednisolone dose pack & we still had Benadryl left from Don' bout with Hives. Apparently I'm allergic to a new med I started taking back in Sept and until 2 wks ago had no problem with it. When the power came on late Sunday we realized we had No TV or Internet which is provided by AT&T U-verse. I spent hours on my cell Monday calling abt the Cable, Internet & Landline all being out. On Monday, sometime after 7:00pm we finally got TV, Internet & pho service restored. It was soooo good this mrng to read the GB & see what's been going on. From the looks of things, thankfully, most all of you kept your power. So please remember . . . if things start going wrong, don't say "It can't get any worse!" Oh yes it can!!!
Place: Richardson Comments: I haven't had access to Internet since about 5:30pm last Thursday evening until late last night!! I'll explain later & I can see I'll need to get caught up on GB. But some very good news regarding Charles. His mom called me this morning and they were able to take him off the ventilator. Dr. said the heart surgery went very well Monday & getting him off the ventilator was a huge step. She said he is in a lot of pain & can't really talk yet due to the tubes being removed, but they are all pleased. Thanks be to God for bringing him thru this. Prayers for continued improvement & recovery.

Place: THE FROZEN TUNDRA Comments: Jack and anyone else who might be looking for a change in the weather. - I can't control what I don't own. - This winter is going to be worse than any of the last ten...which were fairly mild. - Get your cross country skies and come and visit...you'd love the snow, snow, and more snow. - Am sorry your weather is so bad...ice we see very little of unless the melting snow freezes Anyone talking to Charles, please share that I have been lighting candles at church and asking God for his assistance. Hope all have a great Christmas Holiday...and as we used to say....Merry Christmas to all. And please never take Christ out of this special Day. And finally I never speak the politically correct crap some people as a "FEEL GOOD" greeting. This time of year is CHRISTMAS...so I repeat: "MERRY CHRISTMAS" to all of my SOC friends and their families...especially the great class of 1966.
