I just spoke with Charles. He is excited about going home tomorrow after being there for 6 weeks.
I will be having surgery Wednesday, February 5th at 12:00 at the Zale Lipshy University Hospital. Will spend the night there and hopefully go home on the 6th.
Say you sports fans, isn't it neat the location of the winter Olympic Games are named after our alma Mater? Would be nice to be able to go to SOCHI.

To our beautiful classmate, Sally. I am so glad that you recently were able to be with your dad. I know your visit meant as much to you as it did to him. Just wish your mom could have been there. She was such a lovely, sweet woman, whose memory I will always cherish. The kindness she displayed to me our sophomore year has really left a hand print on my heart for all of these years! Always good to hear from you, my Marsalis/Zumwalt/SOC friend!

Sally - Glad you didn't have to endure the frigid cold in NYC & spent your B-day with your family!  However, Galveston wasn't too kind to you either!  Don's Mom & his relatives live in Southern Houston & they had some of their coldest temps ever.  Last Monday was 27 & Tue was 21, I know down the road in G town wasn't good either.

Dallas weather is freaky.  Bitter cold & rainy for a few days and then next few days are sunny & warm.  As they say, if you don't like Dallas weather, stick around a few hours and it'll change!!

Hello Everyone!
Thank you for all of the birthday wishes.  I was NOT in NYC for the bitter cold.  We did not get to come down to Galveston ,where my father and sister live, for Christmas so we came down for our birthdays (you may or may not remember that my daughter Eleni has the same birthday, along with Elvis).  BUT it was so windy and cold in G town !!  I did not bring a warm coat and we all were freezing.  We spent the birthday afternoon with my sister Mimi and her daughter Natalie.  And then we had dinner with my Dad, Mimi and Natalie and a couple of the people that take care of my Dad.  Have you ever eaten at Original in Galveston? The best chicken enchiladas verdes--and gluten free for Eleni!  And what a price, especially compared to good Mexican food in NYC.  And Galveston is such an interesting place with the beach houses, the grand victorian houses and the Strand.  I am never tired of driving around there.  My sister Nancy and her son Chris came earlier in the week but had to return to their homes.  We had a great time together.   As I grow older I miss Texas more and more. My husband says I will move back but actually I want to live BOTH places. Now how can that happen?
Anyway, we are back and now checking the GB.
My best wishes to Charles and Sam and all of the others who are recuperating. Stay warm and enjoy the winter weather.  Somehow it is invigorating as long as the cold air does not sting! Today it is in the 50's.  Love to you ALL

The Urethroplasty will take a minimum of 3 hours and as long as 5 hours. It is a very delicate surgery and I am pleased that Dr. Morey is an internationally renown urological surgeon at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Thanks all for your prayers. I will keep you posted regarding the date and time. Looks like it will be the first week in February.

Catching up on the GB and want to wish Mike and Sally happy belated birthdays. Looked at the grandones photos and they are precious of course. Sam and SNL, thanks for sharing.

Sam, hope everything goes smoothly with your procedure and hope that Charles gets to come home as soon as he expects. James, don't let superficial things prevent you from coming to see old friends and classmates. Most of us can't see that well anyway, so come on down anytime.

Sammy, I looked at the photos and have to side with SNL on this one, doesn't look like minor anything to me. It's too bad you have to go through this, hope they don't slip with the scalpel and cut something off. I never knew anything about this, you will be in my thoughts.

Sammy, I know this surgery does not fall into the "minor" surgery category.  I'm just sorry you have to go thru all this.  will pray it is as successful as they say and that your healing time is minimal.

Happy birthday Sally and Mike. OK McKee. The truth is We got into so much trouble I was asked to leave the school. Thanks for nuttin' pal.
Charles called me this morning. Said he was checking on me after I had my Suprapubic Catheter in yesterday afternoon. Talk about a guy with a great attitude. With everything he has gone through, he calls me to ask how I was doing. Charles is hoping to go home this weekend. He is getting stronger and his Dr said he will evaluate him later this week.
I called my Urologist surgeon to make my appointment for my Urethroplasty. Google it, but ladies don't look at the pictures. Will be glad when all this is over.

Happy Birthday to Sally and Mike!!!!!

James Burge, you and I have known one another since 1st grade...SOOOO, I know how old you are! Don't worry about the facelift. Most of us are sagging a little there. And, the weight loss.....well, don't worry about that. Come on and visit and we can all bump our stomachs and hips trying to socialize!  LOL

Seriously, would love to see you again. We were such close friends and classmates the entire time we were at Bushman Elementary. I remember Mrs. Bush's 1st grade class. You sat in the front desk. I sat behind you. And, Sammy Smith sat behind me (although he was a traitor and transferred to Lisbon during the Christmas break). I have many fond memories of you, Don Millican, and me being partners in crime at Bushman. You were a very good friend, and I always remember that when remembering our school days. So, please come to one of our get-togethers or the next big reunion.
