Rick, you know I'm not rushing you, just checking. I know about that taking care of Mom stuff. I took the radio guts to the guy you suggested and put a down payment. He told me his chief repairman had been out sick and was about three months behind. So I am just waiting. You ever been to his place? What an experience.
What the heck is a video wall??

Jack, I haven't had time to work on it but I promise I will soon. I am taking care of Mom and installing a video wall for a architect in downtown Dallas. How is the progress on that console radio?

You are so right John!  I was thinking of Virginia Macon's bro Larry.  He's the marathon guy.  But still very proud of you & Bob and the good work you do.  You know what they always say, "Find a job that you enjoy doing and it will seem like play!"  Too bad this job obsession doesn't provide a paycheck, or you'd be rich!

SNL, thank you for the nice comments about seeking lost rings for others. It is a kick to have a successful hunt (which only happens about 25% of the time in my case).

One small correction, I don't think Bob Forston has any records for running marathons. You may have meant "Larry Macon" of my class of '63? In 2013 he blew away his own Guiness Record by completing 255 full marathons last year! That's insane! Running 4 or 5 marathons each week.

Larry reports that the hard part is juggling the scheduling, flying from town to town or state to state, and the expense of air fare, entrance fees, hotels, car rental etc. The logistics become complicated.

He almost inspired me to buy a pair of running shoes, but I've decided to stick with my metal detecting obsession instead.

Always good to hear from Sally. Glad to know you are not frozen.
Rick, looks like Charles and Sam decided to wait until the April mini to celebrate. Hope y'all will be coming to that. Did you get around the problem with the radio?

We appreciate all you do for us, Sandy--especially those of us not in the Dallas vicinity and away from Texas.  And, especially since I don't have the energy for Facebook, this is where I look for news and information about our class and others.
I love hearing about everyone.
I hope you are all well and enjoying spring.  We have not really had more than a tease.  Saturday was warm enough for just a jacket but now we are back to cold. Yesterday started in the teens but. . Not complaining compared to Chicago!  At least the crocuses have shown their yellow heads and might even be blooming today!  We can hope, at least!!

My dad did metal detecting as a hobby for 10 years. I remember him saying how elated a lot of people were when he found their wedding bands and engagement rings. My brothers and I inherited a lot of coins he found. I have over 2,000 wheat grain pennies, but most of all a lot of fond memories of dad's stories he told me.

John & Annette, thanks for posting the link about Bob Forston!  I read about him on FB and the '63 site regarding his marathon accomplishments.  I believe he is in the Guiness Book of Records!  And now on the Houston News.   Annette, you must be so proud and heck, so am I . . .  He's a SOCITE!!

JS - I think what you, Bob and others do to help people find their lost treasures is so great.  I can't imagine how happy you have made a few total strangers.  Congrats to you, Bob and the other metal detecting nuts who have brought smiles to so many faces!!   [thumb]

Oops, I stand corrected on Bob Forston. According to the dusty archives of the Dallas Morning News one Robert S. Forston graduated from SOC on June 2, 1960. I was trying to make him a year too old.

He is well known in North Texas metal detecting circles, having found lots of cool stuff.
