Place: Highland Park Comments: Nice GB touch Sandy. Like the birdhouses. Prayers for Smokey.
Place: Update on Smokey! Comments: Tommy Sorrell just cld me. Not a lot has changed, but he said Smokey is slowly opening his eyes a little bit and trying to focus. Still in a heavy fog & still on ventilator. But neurosurgeon said these small improvements are great and it is the slow progression that is needed. Tommy said if there is any change he will call, but until then the situation remains critical and will be a long slow haul for Smokey. He promised to call when situation changes! Prayers are definitely needed!
Place: Richardson Comments: Yes, it's hard to beat birdhouses & flowers! No, it has been a week yesterday since I t/w Eileen before she drove down to Bryan , TX to be with Tommy. I left a VM on their home # but no response. I keep hoping they will call me, as I have no way of getting in touch with them.
Place: Oregun Comments: Looks great Sandy, hard to beat bird houses and flowers. Anything on Smokey ?
Place: Richardson Comments: Hopefully everyone can see the two images. Right? That's assuming I didn't mess up!
Place: Richardson Comments: For those who didn't make it to Gordy's yesterday . . . you missed some great food and fun! Don & I sat at a big picnic table with Jack & Glynda, Janice Scallorn, my bro, Jack, his son John, his wife Pam, & her sister. Very relaxing and weather was great! Toni - Maybe I need to take them to a park further away!? Don also had the suggestion of marking them. I told him if he'd hold them I'd mark 'em!
Place: Garland USA Comments: SNL...those full-grown critters you catch and release have a better natural GPS than you realize. Try a little spray paint on a few of them and watch for their swift return. LOL! Jack, about the neighbors, we were working diligently in the front yard yesterday and I look up and there are drink cans and water bottles between our houses again not to mention a six-pack of empty beer bottles proudly displayed in their newly designed front flower bed! For a split second I thought it was a plant then realized it wasn't. Stood there for a few seconds and then, with rake in hand, promptly marched over to the lady walking up to the house and asked if she was Isabel, the owner. She just stood there holding her baby looking at me. I asked then if she was her sister and she nodded. It was clear that she spoke no English, at least not to me, so I then pointed to the beer bottles proudly displayed in their flower bed for the entire neighborhood to see. I explained to her that empty beer bottles belonged in the trash, and that was where I was putting them!!! I left and didn't look back. She started talking in Spanish to the older child who went down the side of the house picking up other trash! How do you think we're doing, Jack? ![]()
Place: Richardson Comments: TNX JS! I've seen a lot of articles on Smokey, but not that particular one. If you type "Jay Kimbrough" into Google it will light up! Wish I had news from Bryan, but sadly I don't. I feel so helpless. Jack, see you & Glynda tmo!!
Place: The Woodlands, TX Comments: I ran across this interesting write-up on Smokey (Jay) Kimbrough. Perhaps it is all old news to you, his classmates, but I'm amazed at all the ground he's covered since leaving old SOC High. http://www.purpleheartaustin.org/kimbrough.htm
Place: Richardson Comments: As of right now, seems like everyone else has plans for Memorial Day! Looks like it will be me, Don, Jack & Glynda at Gordy's BBQ Shack. So come hungry Jack! In case you're wandering, I haven't heard a word from the Sorrell's regarding Smokey since Eileen drove to Bryan on Tues.
Place: Richardson Comments: Karen, not sure about your train of thought, but I assure you, these are not little babies I'm relocating. these are annoying greedy little rascals who won't quit until they eat all the sunflower seeds I have put out for my redbirds!! I guess all those acorns everywhere aren't good enough for them! Oh. . . if someone leaves Don on the other side of the park, trust me, he'll find his way home. I've tried it several times and he always shows up by dinner time!
Place: Sachse Comments: I was so sorry to hear about Smokey and will continue to pray for his recovery. I am also sorry to say that Mike and I can't make it to Gordy's party. We are already commited to our neighborhood Memorial Day Party which takes place at the same time on Monday as Gordy's. There are a few neighbors we haven't met yet and we are looking forward to getting to know all of them better. Sandy, I don't know how effective taking the squirrels a mile away will be. They will definitely try to return to their little families who are hungrily awaiting their parent to return. What if someone saw your hubby Don in the front yard and scooped him up and dropped him off on the other side of town? Something to think about.
Place: DS Comments: Thanks for the email Sandy. I need to start looking at the gb more often. Gordy's sounds like fun, and it's very generous of him to want to do this. My family and cousins are coming over Sunday after church, instead of Monday, so I may be able to come. Sorry about the "maybe", but my sister and I have started cleaning out my aunt's house, as of yesterday, and maybe there on Monday, if her grandchildren need us to be. We hold the key! Thank you isn't adequate enough for all that have served and given their life for our country.
Place: Cypress springs Comments: You can dispose of the animals any way you want Sam! We have a couple of people here that shoot the squirrels if the kids are not here. BUT.....I do not skin anything and that includes fish. You are welcome to come here and go fishing but plan on doing all that yucky stuff yourself. Lol I made banana pudding last weekend Toni. This weekend so far I have made flan, tomorrow is triple delight and then banana split cake.
Place: Coppell not for long Comments: Hey you squirrells, if you want me to get rid of the critters, I have a 4-10 gauge shot gun I had growing up in oak cliff. Daddy took us boys hunting down at five mile creek. Would be happy to allow Shortcake to skin, clean and BBQ for Gordy's place. |
