Place: Jay (Smokey) Kimbrough Comments: Tommy Sorrell cld. Smokey is in very critical condition. On a ventilator and his brain is swelling. Smokey's son thought it best for Tommy to wait 24 hrs before driving to Bryan to see how things progressed. But Tommy said things aren't good & he's headed to Bryan in the mrng regardless bec Smokey is like a brother to him and he needs to be there. He promised to call me if there are any changes in Smokey's condition. Smokey needs our prayers!
Place: Richardson Comments: TNX Dale! Prayers for our classmate Smokey's recovery & for his family and friends. I can tell you a bit of good news for our family. Last evening Don & I were over at my brother's house in Lake Highlands for dinner & a party! Our family was celebrating a great week for John, our nephew. Monday, in Austin, he paid his dues and was officially sworn in to the Texas State Bar!! Yesterday was his 29th B-day! He took the bar exam in Feb and they have to wait for nearly 3 months to find out if they pass/fail.. He found out 2 weeks ago. John is following in his Dad's footsteps as an atty. Several of John's long-time friends stopped by to wish him well and we all had a great time! Toni - you would appreciate how proud Jack is!! Beaming like a beacon!!
Place: Lazy S Ranch Comments: Hope Smokey is recovering. This article shows he's been busy: http://www.kbtx.com/home/headlines/Sources-DPS-Administrator-Friend-of-Governor-Critically-Hurt-in-Motorcycle-Crash-259627831.html
Place: Richardson Comments: I was notified by Linda Rich tis morning that she picked up on a post from a different forum made by Eileen Sorrel, Tommy's wife. Eileen and Smokey Kimbrough have been friends all their life and Tommy & Smokey served together in the military. Tommy & Smokey still ride their motorcycles together all the time. It appears from Eileen's post that Smokey was involved in a terrible motorcycle accident last night. Below is the info exactly as it was posted. I know nothing else. Will let you know if I get any more info. Prayers for Smokey and his two best friends Tommy & Eileen Sorrel as they go to be with him. "Urgent prayers needed for Tommy & my best friend (since 3rd grade), His name is Smokey Kimbrough, he was in a terrible motorcycle accident in Bryan-College Station, he was wearing a helmet, but has internal injuries, Dr. says it doesn't look good. Waiting to hear back from his son, who was called in by the Drs. in the E.R., just a while ago. We will be driving down there, don't know when yet. Please keep his family & Tommy in your prayers. Thank You, will update when we hear more."
Place: Temporarily in Coppell Comments: It's official. House is on the market. Sarah and I are meeting with a realtor at Lake Tawakoni next Monday. We will only be an additional 10 minutes from the kids and grandkids.
Place: Gordy's BBQ Shack Comments: Gordy called & going to do something different this yr. On Memorial Day, 5-26, he's going to have a party for his SOC Friends! He's got a new BBQ shack, much bigger than the old one, and really nice. He's going to cook Brisket & Ribs for everyone and he also will provide ice, cups, tea, water, soft drinks, forks & napkins for us to use. We show up with a dish and voila . . .Party! It's BYOB, so feel free to bring your favorite alcoholic beverage! There are big trees around the shack that provide lots of shade & he has several picnic tables with chairs. Gordy's new Shack has lots of amenities. He has a refrigerator, ice machine, freezer & a warmer that keeps food at 165 degrees. He has tons of outlets, so feel free to bring a crockpot of food to plug in, a pan you want to put in the warmer, or dish in the frig. Since he needs to have an idea of how many briskets and ribs to cook, please let me know by next Friday if you plan to join the party. Just a shout out on the GB will do. I know many of you have been to his shack to eat BBQ, so you know it's easy to find. Here's the info: Monday, May 26th - Memorial Day 4211 Charles St. in Carrollton, TX (It's not far from his home) Located @ the Corner of Charles St. & Hebron 2:00pm - until ??? If you have questions about what to bring or how to get there, call me. Hope to see lots of our 66ers at the Shack on Memorial Day afternoon!!! It will be relaxing and fun!
Place: Calif....smokey Comments: Yeah Smiley, that weight can really snack up on ya'.
Place: Sachse Comments: Congratulations to JD on the fantastic weight loss. Hopefully your achievement will inspire me to shed some pounds as well. So gratefull that our classmates, Mike, Richard and Toni's family in CA, have been spared thus far from the terrible catastrophe going on there. We are thinking of you and others and praying for you and your loved ones safety. Heading to Waco tomorrow for granddaughter Kira's graduation. Couldn't be more proud of her.
Place: Richardson Comments: Toni I've been watching the news reports about the wildfires near San Diego and it is very scary. I'm glad your cousin's home was sparred and they were allowed back home, but feel so bad for those left with nothing! Mike Dunn - Glad to hear from you & you're OK but it has to be very scary living in CA and not knowing when or where the next big wildfire will erupt. Prayers for you, Richard Nance and all our other friends and families living out there. The many yrs of being in a horrible drought has caused so many problems for CA, TX, and other states. We need rain so bad!!
Place: Garland USA Comments: My cousins were allowed back into their neighborhood. The wildfires burned right up to the back of their house, burned many homes in their immediate neighborhood to the ground - two doors down and two homes across the street from them. They were extremely lucky but surely will have smoke damage. SNL, my cousins on my mother's side of the family live in the San Diego area. They moved there from Oak Cliff in the early 50s. My cousin's husband was in the Navy. We do our best to stay in close contact with them and visit as often as possible.
Place: Southern california Comments: Hope everyone is well. Well it happened, Southern California is burning up, I knew it would happen but only after an earthquake took it out into the ocean. I just returned from San Diego airport and the wind shifted and all the smoke is blowing inland and the freeway was almost impassable. It is really a mess, but luckily it stayed some 20 miles south of me!
Place: Richardson Comments: Dale- I never take anything you say very seriously. Y taught me that many yrs ago. I's just like to agitate U's!! "anorexia-dyslexia" You must lay awake at night thinking of new things to try out on us. But you got a point . . . After an 18 day cruise, the last thing I'd want to see is a scale. Maybe JD had that disease until Kathy made him get new glasses?Toni - I didn't know you had family out there in Calif. Who is there and did they all make it out OK with their lives and their pets?? I'm so sorry to hear this, please let us know more.
Place: Garland USA Comments: Thinking of and praying for my family in Carlsbad, California today. It is so hard to believe that such beautiful homes can be reduced to mere ashes in just minutes. They were not allowed to go back to their home to attempt to save anything. Just cannot imagine their loss.
Place: Tubbyville Comments: We just got back from an 18 day cruise and you ask me if I've gained a little weight? I think I have shared this before but my doctor says I have anorexia-dyslexia. That's where you THINK you are REAL thin .... but you have it backwards. Lets just say I no longer think I can bench press my weight. :-)
Place: Grosvenor Comments: I know, Sandy, I's just funning! DWS |
