Jack - I understand that those "kids" will be cared for by all who support the immigration policies of the current administration.  Children will be assigned to families on a "first come, first served" basis.  No doubt the stampede of those rushing to take the children into their own homes and to care for them with their own funds will be deafening - but don't hold your breath. - Carol

Seriously now -
(info about the county in which I live - taken from Wikipedia)
Johnson County is largely suburban, being part of the
Kansas Citymetropolitan area, and containing many of its affluent southwestern suburbs. The county has the highest median household income and highest per-capita income in Kansas and is among the most affluent in the United States, with the 19th highest median household income in 2000 and the 46th highest per-capita income in 2005. In 2010, Money magazine, in its list of the 100 Best Cities in the United States in which to live, ranked Overland Park 7th (ranked 6th in 2006 and 9th in 2008) and Shawnee 17th (ranked 39th in 2008).[3] In 2008 the same magazine also ranked Olathe 11th.[4]

Summer 2014 - Free Breakfast and Lunch for All Students

(the point)
When the economy of the United States is so bad that there is a need to provide free meals to the young citizens of one of the most affluent counties in the country,  what must life be like for the young citizens who live in far less affluent areas of the country?  My concern is that my tax dollars go to help those children - whether native born or naturalized - and not to help people who disrespect our country by coming here and/or remaining here ILLEGALLY (key word!).  If private citizens/organizations wish to use private dollars to help people come here LEGALLY (key word!) - great!  Let's just be sure that those whom we welcome into our country can support themselves and their families.  Accepting a helping hand should be a temporary measure - not a lifestyle.

Thousands of "kids" pouring are over our borders and the Pres sends $250 Million to central America to stem the tide. Now the libs want to hire lawyers to represent them and we pay the bill. Meanwhile drug captures are down 62% because border patrol is busy dealing with these "kids" We are flying them all over the country, opening closed bases to house, feed and treat them. Spending millions we don't have to deal with the kids who got here "all by themselves". I truly believe that the empty suit in charge has told his underlings not to deliver any bad news to him, just handle it. That is why he doesn't know anything about anything until he reads about it or hears about it on TV.

Can't believe we are getting rain yesterday, today & looks like for a few more days!!  It is desperately needed since Richardson & all the cities under the rule of the North TX Municipal Water District have been restricted to watering only twice a month since back last Nov!!  With all the cloudiness & rain this month our grass looks great!!  Hope it can survive July & Aug.

BTW - More new Grandones!  Ck out Pride & Joy and see some cuties plus all those in the photo album too.

Subject:Re: Smokey

He's doing well. Will move to the facility across the way until he can make it to TIRRS. Not sure on timeline. Want to make sure he's healthy enough for TIRRs to make his time worth while.
He's got a new trache in that let's him talk but he has his moments I think where he's a bit confused - while others he's very lucid.   But all in all- progress!!

Much love, Melissa

If you missed the update on Smokey, scroll down to my post on 6-16.  Every little improvement is a victory!  As we all probably know by now, it will be a long hard road to recovery.  But Smokey is a fighter and strong-willed and that is good because he will need lots of it on his road to recovery.

Larry Dunn & his wife went to visit Smokey today and he was kind enough to send us this update.

"Linda and I had a great visit with Smokey and his daughter Melissa.  Smokey looked good, but his attempt at verbal communication was difficult.

Next step is a rehab hospital--hopefully TIRR in Houston--world renown!

A long road ahead, but we were impressed with his progress!"

Thanks for the update on Smokey. I'm sure it's going to be a long road to recovery for him, but at least he is improving.

Yes, Dale, your error did not escape my notice. You might try some ginkgo biloba to help with that memory recall problem that you still have in regards to the actual winner of that long ago Spelling Bee.

Recvd an em from Larry Dunn with update on Smokey.  Below is the em in its entirety. Prayers still needed for our friend!

Talked to Smokey's daughter Melissa again today.  Smokey is doing better.  No ventilator now, has broken arm, broken clavicle, broken ribs, and of course the severe head trauma.  He is sometimes aware but can't talk, as he has a trach and a feeding tube.  The family wants to move him to Memorial Herman Houston, not sure when.  In the meantime, he may be moved across the street to a different unit.

He can receive get well cards from the St. Joseph Bryan website.  Linda and I plan to visit him on Monday.  Keep the prayers going.  Should know more after our visit.
