Place: Next Mini scheduled Comments: You're so right Toni. In an instant things can change! Fri mrng I had gone to the grocery store and was putting away everything. I had bought 2 cans of Folgers coffee on sale and was putting the 2 new cans to the back of the shelf & bringing the older ones to the front. I was on my 2-step stepping stool reaching to the top shelf. No problem . . . then I stepped down and to the floor and it was like a lightning bolt hit my lower back!! Within moments the pain hit hard and I had to go lay down in the bed. Back went totally out! I've been laying there using heating pad and Aleve since Fri noon. Albeit slow, I'm at least walking tda. I finished negotiating a deal for us at the Hyatt for our next Mini late Thursday and had intended to post info & invite on our site. Tda is first day I've been able to get to my PC. I can't do the official invite for Events pg tda but here's the info. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, September 27th for our Mini! It will be at the Hyatt in Richardson. Same place as our last Mini. NE corner of Campbell & Hwy 75. They will give us Happy Hour rates for all our drinks & Mgr will set out some chips and dips for us. Remember, the BMF Golf Tourney will be held on Fri Sept 26th. I know some of you will be driving in and need to stay in a hotel Thurs night for Golf on Fri. Why not make a great weekend out of it and also stay over Fri for the Mini on Sat!! Anyway, if you are going to stay in a hotel please let me know & I will negotiate a good rate for the Hyatt! They're rooms are nice & it's a beautiful hotel. I think I can get a good rate for you. Please spread the word and I hope to get invite posted on our Events pg by tmo.
Place: Garland USA Comments: Reading and catching up. Glad to hear that Smokey is improving but sad to hear about your brother Karen. Also, so sorry to hear that Charles is still struggling with his health issues. Seems as we all get another day or year older, our lives can change so quickly...just when we think we are doing okay. Sending well wishes to all in need! Hello J D Garoutte....where have you been?
Place: The Woodlands Comments: Karen what a shocker to hear about your brother and the health challenges he faces. You are such a wonderful and beautiful family and I pray for a miracle of healing for your dear brother. Stay strong beautiful friend.
Place: Richardson Comments: I know how you feel JD . . . helpless. Me too. But light some candles for our good friend Charles and if he can walk, one of us will see that he gets to the party. You take care of yourself too as we would really like to see you that weekend!! I'm about to head out to an apt but when I return I'll be posting full details for the Sept 27 Mini. Later . . .
Place: Wherever u want to be... Comments: Am happy to hear Smokey is getting better...am not so secure about Charles. I have been following their recoveries and feel helpless as nothing I can say or do will make change the situation for either. There are times my faith is tested...and this is one of them. Charles has this calmness that assured you that everything would be alright. And, if I might add he has always been able to share his southing voice with a sharp streak of humor. Would someone relay my prayers when you see or talk to him...God bless you...my friend...I look to see you in September...so get your ass out of bed and walk, drive, crawl, or ask one of us to bring you to the get together.
Place: Richardson Comments: Charles was able to come home late yesterday from his long stay at the hospital. Is he well and everything good . . . No! But at least he is home. His sister & bro-in-law brought him home and got him food for his fridge. He has a god friend, Larry, that also lives in Midlothian and he has already come by this mrng to lend a hand. Charles wants everyone to know how much he appreciates all your concern and prayers and to let you know he still needs the prayers. Let's pray for him to get better!
Place: Dallas Comments: Continued prayers for Charles and Smokey! Karen, sorry to hear about Gary. Will pray that it not be stage 4. It is so hard when our loved ones have an illness, especially a diagnosis of cancer. Praying for you and your sister to be strong and help Gary through this time. Love you.
Place: DS Comments: Lila is so pretty Ronney. She's growing up fast ![]() Karen, sorry to hear about your brother. Praying he'll get better news than expecting. Prayers continue for Charles and Smokey.
Place: Richardson Comments: Ronney - Lila is growing up quick! Love that she has so much fun with her Aunt Sissy! Very cute photo.
Place: Richardson Comments: Karen, I'm so sorry to hear of this turn of events for your family and your bro Gary. Prayers have been going out for Charles and Smokey, but will add Gary in there too. Do let us know the diagnoses when it is determined. Will pray for Stage 3 or less and I know he will get lots of support and help from his sisters.
Place: Sachse Comments: Heartfelt prayers going out for our good friend Charles Moss to recover from those nasty viruses plaguing him now. And thanks be to God for Smokey's improvement. I would also ask for prayers for my brother Gary who is undergoing many tests and procedures to discover the extent and origination of a cancerous lymph node found in his neck. A needle biopsy determined the swollen lymph node was cancerous but it is not the origination of the cancer. My sister and I spent the day with him yesterday at the V.A. while he underwent a procedure to his throat to search out sources of the cancer and to collect tissue from various sites for pathology. Next Thursday we meet with the board to hear their findings and determine treatment. The findings so far would indicate that he is either in stage 3 or stage 4 (stage 4 meaning there can be no cure). We are praying for the hope of stage 3 so he at least will have a chance with treatment. We, of course, are very stunned and surprised by this. My brother is 2 years younger than me. He went to SOC but graduated his senior year at Mesquite High School after the family moved to Mesquite. He is divorced and lives in Wylie. Prayers for a hopeful outcome would be appreciated.
Place: Cool & Wet in Richardson Comments: It's 68 degrees and wet outside here in Richardson. So this is what my Dad meant when he used to say, "It'll be a cold day in July when . . . "
Place: Update on Smokey Kimbrough Comments: Larry Dunn sent an update for us regarding Smokey. Here is Larry's email I recvd this afternoon. "He is now in TIIR--the best--where Congresswoman Giffords was!! I thought he really showed improvement yesterday! We talked, but he still has lots of confusion! Keep the prayers coming!"
Place: Raining in Richardson Comments: It's cool & rainy, can't get any better than that in July!!! I forgot to mention I posted a new Grandone photo this morning. Check 'em out!
Place: Richardson Comments: OK, Wake Up and Pay Attention! What to you think of having our Fall Get-Together on Saturday Sept. 27th? Yes, the State Fair opens on Sept 26th but it runs thru Oct.19th, so plenty of time to visit it. I believe this will work well because the Fugate's BMF Golf Tournament will be Fri the 26th! We did this before and it was a good turnout for both because all those coming in from out of town to play Golf stayed over and attend the Get-Together. You can't go wrong . . . supporting the BMF project on Friday & visiting with SOC Friends on Saturday!! To get more info regarding the Golf Tourny go to the BMF website http://www.thebmfproject.org/ BTW, they have a slick new site. Take a look!
