I hope what I am about to share with all of you will not be considered inappropriate given our concern over Richard. However, I want you to know...that Kenosha, and more specifically a family, with whom we are best friends, will finally be able to bury their second oldest son who was lost in Vietnam and listed as a POW/MIA since July of 1967.

They found remains in Cambodia where he died in captivity.  The contents of the box were not reviewed until 1987. Confirmation of his identity wasn't completed until recently.

His name is Staff Sargent James (Jim) L. VanBendagom. His burial is tomorrow, Nov 11th - Veterans Day at 11:00 A.M. Thank you for letting me share. May God Bless Jim and all of our SOC friends.

Richard... I understand there is nothing Kathy and I can say that will remove your pain. We pray for you and your children to find the strength through our prayers as well as the multitude of friends who have expressed their condolences.

May God Bless you and protect you.

Richard, Please know Don & I are thinking of you and your family and praying for strength to allow you to make it thru this terrible time.  Yesterday I didn't turn my PC on and when I did today I was floored!

This may not be the time, but maybe it's the perfect time, to tell you this story.  As soon as I read the GB and found out what happened, I told Don.  Immediately we both thought of the same story!  It was back before our 40th and you & Mary Ann had flown in to attend one of our Get-Togethers.  Don & I met you & Mary Ann and Deryl & Carol on Fri evening (B4 our party on Sat) and we started with drinks at the Double Tree where y'all were staying.  Then we got in the Limo and the party really started!  Lots of laughs and fun but the funniest thing was said by Mary Ann.  The Limo had some dim lights in it but someone decided to turn them off.  Carol was telling one of her funny stories and right in the middle Mary Ann threw her hands up and yelled, " OK, no fair.  You know I can't hear in the dark!".  She had a way of making people laugh and putting them at ease and I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants!!  After dinner and a nightcap at the Stoneleigh Pea, we headed back to the hotel and our cars.  Between Mary Ann & Carol, they kept us laughing all night.

Richard - All of us are here for you and even though we are scattered all across the country, we have your back and are praying for you.  Our love to you and your family.

Richard, I know nothing that can be said will ease the pain but knowing there are so many of your friends and school mates thinking about you and your family helps to make it bearable. I can't imagine how you feel but it has to be very difficult so stay strong and know that her memory will always be with your and in your heart.

This has been such a sad time for so many people. Just learned about Peggy Hess tonight and that truly saddens me also. An excellent teacher, mentor and sympathizer to many. A heart of gold, a smile so bright and a sincere kindness to students, the likes of which I have rarely seen. She will be missed.

Richard my friend, I am dumbfounded at your terrible news. Mary Ann was one of the sweetest, kindest and most lovely persons I have met. I know you must be devastated but please know that all our hearts are with you now. I pray that you will have strength and peace to face the coming days. Please call on us if we can help in any way.
