Place: Waiting for the Super Bowl!! Comments: Well Rick, better that you just didn't want to admit it rather than you're moving so slow it took 3 days to get to the computer! Karen, I don't know Wayne Goolsby. What class is he? We've eaten, did some errands, stopped by store to buy snacks and are ready to watch SB XLIX.
Place: bigD Comments: SNL, my Bday is Jan-27. It just took me 3 days to admit it.
Place: Cypress Springs Comments: SNL...I just read on FB that Wayne Goolsby passed away. His sister posted it. Did not give details of services.
Place: Richardson Comments: I know not everyone is on FB. Wanted you to know that Lonnie Harmon's wife, Terry, passed away about an hour ago. She's been in the hospital for about a week or so suffering from a bad stroke. But she has been ill and in lots of pain for more than 20 yrs., the stroke was too much for her body. Lonnie is SOC '64 and omes to all the reunions of all the classes and most all of the SOC luncheons and parties. He's the one taking all the pictures! He is kind and good to everyone regardless of what class and gladly shares his photos. I will post the services when they are made know.
Place: Waiting on the rain in Big R Comments: Hey Rickypoo, was 1-30 your B-day? I'm late, but hope you had a very Happy B-day and my best wishes for many more!!! I know what you mean about wondering what to do on a Saturday. Once you retire you can get all those errands, washing, grocery shopping, yard work, etc done thru the week. Used to my weekends were hectic and crowded with "have to do" lists that by Sunday evening I was worn out. Now I actually have to think about what to do. It's an odd feeling and at first I felt so guilty if I wasn't juggling 3 "must do items" at one time. Now I just turn 88.5 FM on, listen to some good music and play on the computer for a while. Like I'm doing now. Life is good!!! Speaking of 88.5 FM . . . when you hear a 17-18 year old giving the news or weather and they make a mistake or stumble a bit it makes me smile. We have prime time newscasters here (I won't say the stations) that are adults and getting paid big bucks to report the news and they make many faux pas. At least I don't have to listen to a 40 something adult ranting and raving about what he perceives as a personal injustice or all the personal things he does with his young dtr every day. Now I can actually listen to music rather than chatter. Ok, I'll drop it. Just wanted you to know there is an alternative to KLUV if you want some good oldies.
Place: bigD Comments: Well it's Saturday again and I'm wondering what to do with my day. Any suggestions?
Place: bigD Comments: Well another birthday down. Another year older and still around to brag about it. Mom is 95 now and I'm still in my thirties but I did stop counting 30 plus years ago.
Place: bigD Comments: SNL, KEOM is on one of the preset buttons on my car radio. I listen to it often. I can tell they are inexperienced but I enjoy listening to them.
Place: Richardson Comments: When I find something really good - - - I like to share it with friends. Here's a tip regarding radio stations. This is a great station if you're in the DFW area. Try 88.5 FM KEOM. It plays music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. If you're tired of all the commercials, way too much talking and too little music on 98.7 KLUV, then switch. You'll be glad you did!! KEOM is owned by the Mesquite ISD and many of the people who staff it are H.S. Srs. They do the news, traffic and weather. They are studying for a career in Broadcasting. There are very few commercials and little to no talking between songs. I love it!!! Got tired of Jody Dean & other DJs doing so much talking, self promoting and talking about their personal life and opinions. If you like listening to lots of 60s, 70s and 80s music without idle chatter and commercials, try 88.5 FM. It's a strong broadcast channel.
Place: Richardson Comments: You have my empathy Shortcake. I always like the end results, but the "process" is a downer!! Yuukk!! I'm still waiting for the NFL to reveal the video they supposedly have of someone taking several footballs back into the locker room after they were brought out onto the field. Based on all the stories I've read in the Sports pages of the DMN and listened to on the TV Sports stations, this is my understanding. Ea team picks 12 footballs they want to have for use during the game. 2 hrs & 15 min B4 the game the refs ck ea ball, including inflation, and mark the balls with their initials verifying they have approved it. Then the balls are giving to a "ball person" ( ??? ) and they hang on to them for the rest of the game and hand them out to the teams as needed. Also, it has been stated several times that the person watching over the balls during the game is normally from the Home Team. Home Team being the Pats! Never knew there could be so much hullabalew over the darn balls for a football game!! But I have to say, cheating is cheating in my book. It is what it is. If the NFL can't conclusively prove that the Pats knew about it or had anything to do with it, then let it go! Maybe they did and maybe they didn't. Either way, make a case or move on and from here on out you can guarantee that the spare footballs will be as watched as the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders!!
Place: Cypress springs Comments: Got mom moved into assisted living this week -now I am back at home. They are putting in the carpet in the downstairs bedroom today. Will really be glad when "redecorating" is done for awhile! I may like the way it looks completed but I hate the construction!
Place: bigD Comments: Looks like the Lakewood theatre is out of business again. I took Dates there when I was in High School. J.D. how is the weather in Wi. I guess you're staying home a lot checking the guestbook.
Place: bigD Comments: The weather was beautiful today in Dallas. I think it was in the 80's. We went to some antique shops on Riverfront Blvd. Had a great time.
Place: bigD Comments: If you say so Jack.
Place: 66erville Comments: Each team brings 12 new balls for that team to play with plus balls for kick off and for punting. The home team provides 12 acceptable "back-up balls" in case they are needed. Who to say if the Pats had used proper balls they would have completed their passes as well as they did? That would have changed the game. Less inflated balls are easier to carry and hold on to also. That could have changed the game. Every play using an under-inflated ball could have had a different outcome if they had used proper balls. COULD have made a great difference in the final score. |
