Place: 66erville Comments: The 90 day forecast is for wetter and lower temperatures than "normal" SNL, I know you are interested in the SOC 65 50th reunion. Classmates has it listed as September 15, 2015 from 7:00 pm till 11:30 pm @ the Courtyard by Marriott in Allen. As of today, they show 16 yes, 1 no, 5 maybes and 266 no response. Contact is Phyllis Kelly. Let me know if you need her email or phone number. They are both listed on the Classmates announcement. So glad to see Rick and Sam FINALLY jumping on the bandwagon for reunions. Please publish the themes for the 75th and 100th reunions in the next few months so the class can vote on them.
Place: Arid Oregon Comments: It looks like I will have plenty of chance to get to a reunion if I don't make the 50th. Now I might have time to plan it. It's funny how you are talking about your rain and lake levels, ours won't be full again this summer and our snow pack is next to nothing. Most of the ski resorts were only open a few days this last season. Our rivers are already low and there is no way they will fill this season. That won't be good for the fish and the fire season will be one of our worst, but that's the way it goes. We will get our camping in and some fishing, although I may just use a net and scoop them up. Since the 50, 75 and 100 year reunions are spoken for I'll volunteer to take care of the 105th.
Place: Richardson Comments: You guys are the BEST! So, I've got the 50th next year, Sammy has the 75th and Rick the 100th. Looks like we're good for at least another 51 years worth of reunions! I just checked the lake levels chart and Lavon & Texoma, where we get our water, are both just a tad over 1 ft low. Best we've seen in almost 5 yrs. Can't believe we can water twice a week beginning 5-1. Yippee!!! It showed Tawakoni as 5.68 ft low and all these levels are as of 4pm today. With water still flowing down we might be at full level in Lavon by in the morning.
Place: And a river runs through it Lake Tawakoni Comments: Your right Sandy. Lake Tawakoni is up 74" since January. At this rate, we'll gain back the 12 feet in another 6 weeks. Just looking at the weather forecast. Sunny tomorrow and most of Sunday, then hunker down for another round of storms and rain for Monday and Tuesday. Count me in for the reunions. I'll take the 75th.

I still lhaven't gotten to GW's Library but we definitely want to go within next 2-3 months bec they have an excellent Baseball Exhibit. It has everything as it relates to baseball and our presidents. Rick- did y'all take time to see it? Did you like it?
Place: bigD Comments: Sandy, If you are tired of planning the reunions, I will offer to do all the planning for the 100th reunion. My cousin was visiting from Carlsbad Cal. last week, I took her to see The world aquarium in Dallas , Old City park, The arboretum and George Bush Library. I think that was enough for two days.
Place: Richardson Comments: Rod, I'm glad the seen is planted because this is our 50th reunion!! I can usually sign the hotel contract about 11 to 12 months out thus committing us & them to a date and a price. Once the date is secured I'll post here on our GB and the Events pg. Then everyone can start making travel plans. Whether by car, plane or train . . . you can look for the best fares and lock it in. I honestly can't say we will have a 55th or 60th reunion. Will have to see what response we get from the 50th. After the 50th it may be that we just have twice a year get-togethers and not go to the expense of a reunion. But, let's not blow off coming to the 50th saying you'll make it next time. At this point in life, there may not be a next time. So come this Sept & Oct things will begin to appear on our Events pg and here on the GB, so be ready to see what will be happening for the reunion.
Place: Oregun Comments: Jack, I am working on that but doubt that it will work out. It would be great seeing everyone so the idea is there.
Place: 66erville Comments: Happy Birthday, Don!! (Sorry I'm late, but this allows you to celebrate longer) With wishes for many more that we will ALL celebrate together. Rod, I hope you are making plans to come visit for our 50th reunion next year.
Place: Wild West Comments: Well I do like communicating with you all, and as much as I would like to come back for a visit moving there isn't in the cards. It is nice reading the comments on FB and the GB and that keeps me informed somewhat. I'm from here and this is home, too many memories here and far too many family here I take care of at the family plot. I would love to see you all but for now reading will have to do.

Place: Richardson Comments: Don & I also had a great time at the BMF Kick-Off Fund Raiser! But I have to disagree with Jack about when the lights went out. I thought the darkened room lit by candle light was much better . . . that way no one could see how much food I was piling on my plate! The food was very good and we enjoyed the evening, along with helping out a great cause! BTW - Today is Donnie Fugate's birthday!! Happy B-day old friend! Enjoy this beautiful day and hopefully Barb isn't having you work too hard on your b-day. Best Wishes for today and many more!!
Place: Oregun Comments: I like FB but it can be too public compared to the GB. The GB just seems closer to home but I understand the allure of FB. Glad some still use the GB.
Place: Sachse Comments: Had a great time at the BMF kickoff party Saturday night. The Fugates have come up with a unique way of letting you know it's time to leave, they "lose power" and blackout the house. They blamed it on the storm, said the same thing happened earlier in the week. Good thing I hit the snack tables early. You can get some weird combos when you can't see what you're dipping into. Great time and a good cause!
Place: Richardson Comments: Me too Rod! Seems everyone wants instant gratification these days . . . make a post and get likes instantly. All the SOC GBs seem to be quieter and less posts with FB taking over. Glad you enjoyed the photos! |
