Place: Garland USA Comments: Sandy, I saw your post on Facebook about Sandra's niece. Sandra, I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your niece. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
Place: Richardson Comments: Based on a FB post, Janice McMakin's dtr, Jana, has passed away. Janice (SOC '65) is the sister of our Sandra McMakin. Jana is Sandra's niece. Tanya Leverett posted the obit. Sandra, if you're checking in, please know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your whole family for this terrible loss. I'm so sorry.
Place: Arid Oregun Comments: That would be quite a sight Sandy. If anyone made the 100th it would be news worthy. Hope all are well after the storms. We had a small tornado a week or so ago, didn't do much damage but those are something we almost never see.
Place: Richardson Comments: Interesting thought Rod . . . but I'm still hoping to see Rick ring those bells, of course no one will be able to hear them because we'll all be deaf! I still find it hard to believe I'm going to be planning a 50th reunion for us. I can remember not being able to even comprehend BEING 50, much less having a 50th H.S. reunion!!
Place: Oregun Comments: By the time the 100th rolls around there should be 'hoover chairs'.
Place: Richardson Comments: If you're going to ring those bells then you better attach them to your walker!
Place: bigD Comments: I'll be at the 100th with bells on.
Place: Richardson Comments: Toni - if you ask your neighbors nicely they might get a blanket for you & Bruce to hang out on your fence! I think if we have a 75th, it should be titled "Live and Walking" as I doubt many of us will be kicking. If we have a 100th, let's invite Guinness Book of Records bec those attending would be about 118!
Place: Garland USA Comments: Just checking in and catching up! Sandy looks like you've got some great help for the 75th and 100th reunion. I would like to suggest the theme for either OR both - "Alive and Kicking or at Least Breathing After All These Years".....lol. We've had so much rain lately but, after the dry spell, I'll never complain except for the unusual sproutings coming up as a result of the rain in MY neighborhood. Who knew that a fence could sprout a religious blanket that has now hung on my wonderful neighbors' wooden fence for over a week! And it was a mere cutting from the original religious blanket covering the windshield of one of their many vehicles parked in front of their home. I should watch my comments as they DO take care of our yard. No telling what my sprout up in my yard!! Speaking of cuttings and sprouts....Sammy Smith has some really beautiful roses in his new yard!!
Place: Sunny in Richardson Comments: Boy, last night was a frog strangler! It rained really hard, had a little hail and some wind when the front came thru. Luckily we didn't have any of those 70 - 80 MPH winds, just some 40ish mph. Our rain gage had 2 1/4 inches in it this mrng. Although, I don't think all the rain got into the little gage bec a lot of it was going sideways!! Hope everyone is Ok and has electricity this mrng. Looks as though Ft. Worth & west got the brunt of it. So happy to see the sun!!!
Place: Sinking in Richardson Comments: Don't remember the last spring that we've had so much rain. It's been dry & hot for going on 5 yrs so it's a blessing to get all this rain. Do hope the hail & very high winds out west and moving east don't cross thru the Big R. Yikes, it's hailing. gotta go
Place: bigD Comments: See Sandy, you have a lot of offers for future reunions. Aren't we a lot of help? I did see the baseball exhibit, George has a lot of signed baseballs. It is definitely worth the price. You can also visit his replica oval office. As you exit you can visit the gift shop. It must be operated by Neman Markus because the prices are really marked up.
Place: 66erville Comments: The 90 day forecast is for wetter and lower temperatures than "normal" SNL, I know you are interested in the SOC 65 50th reunion. Classmates has it listed as September 15, 2015 from 7:00 pm till 11:30 pm @ the Courtyard by Marriott in Allen. As of today, they show 16 yes, 1 no, 5 maybes and 266 no response. Contact is Phyllis Kelly. Let me know if you need her email or phone number. They are both listed on the Classmates announcement. So glad to see Rick and Sam FINALLY jumping on the bandwagon for reunions. Please publish the themes for the 75th and 100th reunions in the next few months so the class can vote on them.
Place: Arid Oregon Comments: It looks like I will have plenty of chance to get to a reunion if I don't make the 50th. Now I might have time to plan it. It's funny how you are talking about your rain and lake levels, ours won't be full again this summer and our snow pack is next to nothing. Most of the ski resorts were only open a few days this last season. Our rivers are already low and there is no way they will fill this season. That won't be good for the fish and the fire season will be one of our worst, but that's the way it goes. We will get our camping in and some fishing, although I may just use a net and scoop them up. Since the 50, 75 and 100 year reunions are spoken for I'll volunteer to take care of the 105th.
Place: Richardson Comments: You guys are the BEST! So, I've got the 50th next year, Sammy has the 75th and Rick the 100th. Looks like we're good for at least another 51 years worth of reunions! I just checked the lake levels chart and Lavon & Texoma, where we get our water, are both just a tad over 1 ft low. Best we've seen in almost 5 yrs. Can't believe we can water twice a week beginning 5-1. Yippee!!! It showed Tawakoni as 5.68 ft low and all these levels are as of 4pm today. With water still flowing down we might be at full level in Lavon by in the morning. |
