Place: 66erville Comments: Thanks, Richard! I just knew you would help out and with something productive too.
Place: Calif. Comments: My lemonade stand. Keeps me going.
Place: 66erville Comments: Prayer for the Pulis family. With our 50th reunion coming up, I got to wondering what everyone has been doing since 1966. How about a post here or sending me an email, telling me the job you enjoyed most since leaving SOC. I mean a paying job. I know being a parent or grandparent is the best job ever, I am interested in what paid the bills. And PLEASE put it terms we can all understand. If an engineer, what kind and what did it entail. If you were/are a nephrologist or a boot shew or something along those types, please explain what you did/do. Come on, join in it will be fun! Gives us something to do till we See you in September!
Place: Hot & Sunny Comments: Wow, Shortcake, that's a lot of damage. In our neighborhood, Sachse, Murphy & Wylie, every home has roof damage and some even broken windows. The bang, bang, bang of the nail gun has been a constant since early May with no let up in sight. I too hope we've had the last big hail storm around here for many years to come. We had two in 11 days! On a sad note - James & Janis Pulis lost their dtr-n-law (Laura Pulis) to cancer on June 11. She was only 41. She had been battling the disease for about 3 years. It was posted on FB earlier today. Prayers for our classmate and his family's great loss.
Place: cypress springs Comments: Well hopefully all of the estimates have come back in and we can start getting everything fixed. The car is $11,000. If they had not already started on the repairs they would have gone ahead and totaled it. The RV is up to $14,000. That is the roof and an air conditioner. The casita had cosmetic damage and we did not get up to the deductible. I sure hope there are no more hail storms. It is bad enough getting things done here but running back and forth is a real pain.
Place: Soggy Richardson Comments: What an uplifting surprise to read Karen's post yesterday! So happy to see she is well on her way to a good recovery. And yes . . . we'll "See You In September!"
Place: Home Sweet Home in Sachse Comments: To all my dear, sweet SOC family, I wanted to take some time to let you know how much I appreciate each and eveyone of you, now that I am finally back home and getting stronger by the day. You will never know how much Mike and I appreciated your thoughts and prayers that were a key factor in my recovery. No one was more surprised than me to find that a serious problem existed but I am so grateful to God that he heard your prayers and gave me another chance. I will never forget your kindness and love through this ordeal and can't wait to give you a big hug (once my sternum is healed!) when I see you again. Sandy, Mike finally remembered to tell me that you and Don were there during my surgery. Thanks so much for that. I will be posting something similar on FB so I don't miss anyone. See you in September.
Place: Lake Tawakoni Comments: Peacefulness and serenity. Reminds me of our Smith/ Henager family reunions at Mother Neff Park. Had relatives from Waco, Belton, Moody, Crawford and McGregor there. After our family picnic, we went to the Indian cave dwellings and looked for arrowheads. We ended the reunions star gazing. Incredible, peaceful times.
Place: Richardson Comments: Wow, the KKK! We were out of town all day and until about 8 last night. Went to Don's uncle's funeral in Groesbeck, TX. Would be interesting to hear what that was all about in Quinlan. It was peaceful and serene in Groesbeck. the cemetery was so far out in the country I didn't think we'd ever get there. He was born and raised in Groesbeck so the whole town turned out.
Place: Lake Tawakoni Comments: On our way to Rockwall yesterday, we saw the Rebel Order of the KKK holding some kind of rally in Quinlan . Don't know what was going on. Do any of you know if they were on the local news? They did not wear sheets, but did the Hitler salute while waving the KKK and Rebel flags.
Place: 66erville Comments: Police report trouble at Custer & Biglow. Somebody go back to the old neighborhood?
Place: Richardson Comments: Lots more people signing up. Getting 4-5 a day as the Reunion inches closer. Come join the fun, let's make this a night(s) to remember. Can't wait to "See You In September!"
Place: Richardson Comments: Received quite a few registrations today! Got them all posted to the "Who's Attending" list. If your name isn't on the list . . . what are you waiting on??
Place: Richardson Comments: It was so good to read Mike Davis' FB post yesterday saying Karen was being moved to Healthsouth Rehab Center in Richardson. Will probably be there about a week. Great news our friend is much better and on the road to recovery. We'll see her in September! God is good!
Place: Richardson Comments: Haven't talked with Mike Davis in 2 days. Hope that means he is really busy getting Karen checked-out and either to Rehab/PT or home. I know both Mike & Karen have a daughter and family who live very close to them. That's good because they have been a good support network for mike, helping with the doggies and such. Tomorrow is our annual Gauer Reunion, my mom's family. It's in Mosheim, TX., and other than Sammy or James & Kay Kidd, most people have never heard of it. It's a spot in the road with a small community center that we rent for the day. Well, its back to the kitchen, today I cook and get evrything ready as we have to leave at 7:30am to get there in time. Most all the other relatives live in and around Crawford and Waco. One last note about the Reunion - - Your registration form & check must be postmarked by 6-11 to get the Best Deal price! And, on July 9th, we will draw from all registrations received for a Free Room for Fri & Sat nights! The "Who's Attending" list is growing, but the rest of you need to get your forms in as soon as possible. Also, there are about 12 rooms left at the $85 rate. So go to our 50th Reunion pg and follow the directions or link to get your room. Remember, "I'll See You In September!" |
