Place: Allen, Texas Comments: Hey, Sammy! Are you feeling comfortable? You have been on my mind ever since I saw Sarah's post. I called Mario in Mexico and informed him of your mishap. He was VERY shocked and concerned. Like the rest of us, he was quite upset. You know we love you and you are being lifted up in prayer. you are also being lifted up in prayer by my church's prayer ministry. I'm hoping the doctors bring you the margaritas you requested. LOL Hoping for a quick recovery, ol' buddy.

Place: Presbyterian Plano Hospital Comments: Thank you guys so much for your prayers. We are truly blessed to have known each other all these years . Sarah will keep all updated on my progress. I''ll be in ICU for 24 hours then a room for 3 days. I'm going to tell the anesthesiologist tomorrow morning that I won't need a morphine drip, just make it margaritas. Sam
Place: 66erville Comments: Prayers for Sammy and Sarah. I have always admired Sam. His strength and humor have always shown through. We would all be lucky to have his strength and character and are blessed to have him as a friend. I've known Sam a long time, he's soft as fur and strong as steel. Hang in there, Sam, all your friends are pulling for you. Besides, you have to make it to the reunion, you've already paid for it, and you don't waste money! Love ya, man!
Place: Richardson Comments: Sammy sent me an email early this morning from his Iphone asking me a question. I gave him info and this is the reply I got back. He always amazes me with his strength and good humor no matter what! Please keep Sammy in your prayers as he faces surgery tomorrow. Only Sammy could make it happen on the 4th of July! "Thanks Sandy. I saw the neurosurgeon this morning. Will see the Anesthesiologist sometime today. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 7:30. Three days in the hospital and neck brace for 2 weeks."
Place: Allen, Texas Comments: I am really concerned about Sammy Smith. We have been friends since the first day of the first grade at W.W. Bushman Elementary. I am a strong believer in the power of prayer. And, I invite all of our class to lift Sam up in prayer. And, while you are at it, please lift up his sweet wife, Sarah, and his children and grandchildren.

Place: Allen, TX Comments: If anyone has a question as to what happened to Sam Smith, here is what his wife, Sara, texted: "Prayers needed for Sam. He was mowing the yard yesterday tripped and fell backward on his back which caused a fracture to his neck. Problem is with his neck bent forward from Ancolosis Spondilitus getting a tube down his throat is almost impossible. Can't do the surgery without putting that tube down his throat. The fracture is such that a brace will not fix it. Only surgery. Can't do IV. Can't do epidural. Can't do Trach. And it's a holiday weekend!!"

You're probably better off sending me an email message, at least I know how to use email correctly. Based on your incident, I'm gonna say 2 years house arrest with leg monitor.
