Place: Allen, Texas Comments: Good news from Sarah regarding Sammy Smith!! PTL, it's over and he did great! Going to ICU for 24 hours to be on the safe side. Possibly go home Monday or Tuesday! Thank you all for your prayers, concerns and love!
Place: Oregon Comments: Any time a police officer or fire fighter is killed we all loose a little bit, they are all heroes and put their lives on the line to protect us. Mu son-in-law is an officer and every time our phone rings my first thought is about him. We have enemies that are trying to kill us and take our country away from us and yet there are those of us who still go after American citizens. We need to stop this and stop with the race card and take care of ourselves, Americans who will defend this country and that starts with the fire fighters and the police. It shouldn't matter what color the skin is, what matters is that as Americans we should be one, not fighting with each other. If we keep this up ISIS and others won't need to shoot at us, our doors will be wide open for them. It disturbs me deeply every time our one or more of our protectors are killed, it is senseless and a huge waste of lives. I could go on but you know how I feel and will always feel.
Place: Richardson Comments: I'm so nervous waiting to hear from Sarah about Sammy. Praying 3rd time is it and this surgery has ( is ) happening. Sammy has been thru so much, pray his neck will be repaired today and then healing can begin. Carol - I'm very sad and distraught over the violence in our country. What happened last night is horrific!!
Place: KC, MO Comments: Thinking of you, Sammy. You are a dear. Also thinking of the people of Dallas and hoping that no SOCite was directly affected by last night's horrific events. I am truly fearful for our country. Love to all - Carol
Place: Richardson Comments: Ronney - thank you for posting the text & updates you get from Sarah Smith regarding Sammy. We are all concerned and praying for him. Please God . . . guide these Dr.s to find a way to intubate him and get this surgery done. Then time for healing. Prayers up '66 prayer warriors!!
Place: Allen, Texas Comments: Another update on Sam: Well, here we are at UTSouthwestern. Neck surgery is scheduled for 1:00 tomorrow (Friday). But of course before the surgery, the doctors need to Intubate. As you know, can't do the neck surgery until intubation is done. That has taken on a life of it's own. I will keep you posted as updates happen. Thank you so much for your prayers.
Place: Oregun Comments: Dang it Sammy, you just can't seem to get a break. I do hope this all works out for you and Sarah, you've had more than your share of problems. There is at least former classmate here in Oregon pulling for you both. Be strong and leave any worries to your fellow SOCites, that's something we are very good at. I would have loved to see you at the reunion but that is not going to work out but I will be there in spirit.
Place: Allen, Texas Comments: Today's update on Sam from Sarah: Update on Sam: No surgery today. Could not do intubation or trach. he will be transported to UT Southwestern today. This was hard news to take today. We need some time to process. Please pray.
Place: Richardson Comments: Sammy, it's so nice to see your posts. Thinking of you tonight and tomorrow all day. Will be in my prayers too. You and Sarah are the best and we care deeply for both of you.

Place: Allen, Texas Comments: Sarah's Tuesday night update on Sammy Smith: Update on Sam: Dr. Chad McDuffie from ENT Associates of Frisco Will be the anesthesiologist Along with Dr. Kirk LaBlanc from Mondays surgery. Surgery will be Thursday at 7:00 am. They will try the Fiberoptic intubation atomic nebulizer one more time before doing a trach. Then Dr Loyala will repair the neck with screws in C5, C6, and T1. He will attach a brace from the C5-T1 to stabilize the fracture of C6. C7 is not strong enough to hold a screw. Please share again please. Thank you!
Place: Allen, TX Comments: Here is the latest from Sarah Smith concerning Sam. Update on Sam: this is Tuesday. Saw Dr. Loyala early this morning. He is working diligently to find the right ENT to do the trach. Pain level right now is a 6 on a 1-10 scale. Blood pressure is unstable. he has high blood pressure and he is on a saline drip.....hello people....internist said they will take him off the saline today. She said she kept him on it because she thought he would be having surgery today. (Well that's not happening today). Here is today's prayer request: we need an ENT that knows a LOT about Ankylosing Spondylitis. ALOT!!! And that he has experience needed to do the trach so the surgery can be schedule AND COMPLETED. And wisdom for Dr. Loyala.
